Found my forever mechanic! I cannot recommend this Pep Boys enough! I truly believe the Most High led me here. Tyrone "The Machine" is absolutely exceptional. He didn't just tell me what was wrong; he brought me in and showed me exactly what was going on with my vehicle. With 30 years of experience, his knowledge is unmatched, and he explained everything so clearly that I felt completely confident in his work. He fixed my oil leak, installed all new tires, and performed an alignment--all in a surprisingly short amount of time. He even caught that I needed rear brakes and rotors, which we already have on order for next week. A huge thank you to Mr. Ray as well! He was so sweet during check-in and was incredibly knowledgeable in helping me pick the right tires for my truck. He even applied discounts to make sure the service didn't hit my pockets too hard. My boyfriend got towed there this morning and was gonna get new tires and rims for his car. He ended up also getting his brakes done which was already a lil over $800. I'm not sure who but a manager who was working on his car went up to him and told him something about his waterline to which my boyfriend asked what that would put him at total wise and it was over $1000 so my boyfriend proceeded to say no thanks just the tires rims and brakes. The mechanic proceeded to replace the water line which was fine might I add and was gonna be don't at a later date, anyway he proceeded to replace it without consent pushing the total a lil over $1050. Pep boys sugar land will charge you for replacing thing that you verbally turned down. My boyfriend has never been through this before so he left fuming bc it took all his paycheck which we needed bc we have bills like everybody else. read more

CUSTOMERS BEWARE: MECHANICS LIE TO LAND SALES. 2 WEEKS IN A ROW Last week: I got my cabin air filter replacement here which was fine. They told me my battery was bad however I got my car oil changed, serviced, inspected, and repaired at toyota dealership, walmart auto center and a local body shop from a friend all within a week timeframe. None of the three parties told me anything about my battery. I have no warning lights, or trouble starting the car as well. I took this statement with suspicion. This week: I went for a alignment repair. I have the pepboys lifetime alignment warranty on my camry. They fixed the alignment however this time they lie again and tell me my engine air filter, cabin filter, shocks and drums need replacing. I got my cabin filter replaced at this exact same location just the week prior. Read above. They tell me I need to replace it again. I got my engine air filter replaced at walmart auto center in front of my eyes. They tell me I need to replace it again. They have crooked mechanics in the back trying to land sales by saying random things need repair and fixes. 2 weeks in a row I was lied to. They need to fire these mechanics because they just lost a long time customer. Luckily, houston is filled with auto/body shops on almost every street. Hardworking and honest mechanics are everywhere. Dropped my car off to have some repairs done to it. When i went back to pick it up the person working there explained everything they done . Got the keys and receipt for what was paid for and i left. The next day I looked in my console someone that works there stole all my change and left only the pennies. Well Hell pennies spend to. Do not take your car here, they have technicians that would rather mess up your car rather than tell you they don't know how to change the battery on your car. Came in with my BMW and watched the technician spend 2+ hours to change the battery. It was obvious he didn't know what he was doing as he went back and forth between the car and a computer screen, looking more frustrated as time went on. By the time I got my car back, the center console control wasn't working, and the only thing the salesman could do is give me the store manager's name. The store manager basically told me to go to BMW to get it fixed and he would pay for it. After BMW told me it was going to cost $1K, the store a manager took his word back. I tried to go through their claims dept, but they are also a waste of time, as they will take the store's word without doing any real investigation. I should check the reviews before going to this store, worst customer service ever! The employee who named Justin who told me he was the manager /supervisor in the house, which turned out he lied me. He threw the tire on me from over 2 meter height and the tire hit my left leg. I felt immediately sharp pain from my left leg and it caused bruise and redness of my left leg. I would give this store 0 stars if I could. I scheduled AN APPOINTMENT for an alignment. When I got to the store, no one was in front to receive me and confirm. Once someone came, they told me it was going to be a 3 HOUR WAIT! I could not believe this. The Service Manager Carroll Williams had the gall to compare themselves to doctors, stating, "When you make a doctor's appt., you have to wait." I had no issue waiting, even an hour, but 3 hours is unacceptable by any standard. Mr. Williams had an attitude and did not apologize once for the inconvenience. There was an employee Rashad that was friendly, but still no movement. I will contact national support and their district manager. When you buy a premium service from someone, you don't expect to have such disrespect. I would prefer a refund for my purchase to never deal with this company again. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! read more

Went in for an oil change, manager was at front desk, but apparently didn't want to speak to me. So he pulled a guy from the shop to get my info. Oil change went smoothly, the mechanic even talked to me about my vehicle for a few min as he dropped off my keys. Checking out manager still didn't acknowledged me or another customer that walked in. Honestly he seem lost,he couldn't figure out which vehicle belong to me even though I told him. Went in for oil change and was greeted by a nice man and then directed to a not-so-nice man who played solitaire while he asked my info. It took him 5 minutes to ask for my name and address when it should've taken him 1. I wouldn't care to mention it but the fact that he tried to up-sell me knowing that I'm a young female who probably doesn't know much about cars just really pisses me off. He acted all nice after he finished his solitaire game talking about "oh you need a coolant flush. And your brake fluid and power steering fluid is really bad." I will admit, I know nothing about cars. But I had a feeling that he might've been exaggerating my "issues." Luckily, I didn't buy into everything he was selling (although I did by the coolant flush..) because I went home later that night and realized I had taken care of all the issues he mentioned a year ago! The other employees didn't really provide a good service either. They kind of all just sit around on their phones. A customer called in to try and refund something over the phone but it seemed like the woman in charge was too lazy to deal with the problem and told her subordinate to turn the customer away. I was here for 3 hours as there was only one mechanic. I'm usually a patient person and I didn't give them any trouble. But I guess they took that as an opportunity to walk all over me and run me for my money. I wasn't planning on writing a review but I realized that the guy really was trying to scam me big time seeing that I was ignorant to cars and their maintenance. Really? I am so disgusted at how greedy this man was and how lazy his employees were to not correct him. And around Christmas time? And I'm already a broke college student! I got the part that I wanted (brake caliper) very quickly. The only problem I had here is that the cashier was very impatient and extremely unprofessional. He was not rude, but just seemed to servery lack professionalism. I asked him if there was any brake/caliper grease available and he just pointed me to a little rack by the register and just told me that any of those greases would work. Also, when I asked if there was any warranty, he legitimately said "I don't know," and shrugged his shoulders. Anyways, I returned my old part two days later and got my core back. The lady who processed my core refund was very nice and professional. Management, please inform your younger employees to act like professionals and treat customers with respect. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD AT A SHOP!! I took my 2500 truck into this pep boys for an alignment they confirmed what kind of truck I had and told me they could complete the alignment in about 2 hours. I left and was called about an hour and a half in and was told they cannot complete the alignment because of they don't have the scanner they need to reset my cameras. I was confused because I didnt think resetting the backup camera and completing an alignment were linked. I called the dealership and asked if they knew anything about that and they said no. Those two things have nothing to do with each other and that the place probably didn't have the correct lift/alignment machine for a bigger truck (2500). I thought wow so instead of taking the blame and saying you didn't have the proper set up to service my vehicle you lie to me and says it's something about my vehicle? I went in there and told them exactly that. They insisted still that that was not the case. I got my keys and drove off with my truck. Upon getting close to it I noticed the wheels looked like they were slightly turned inwards it just didn't look right. I got in drove it and immediately realized my wheel was turned all the way to the left and definitely not aligned AT ALL. The truck could barely drive straight. I took it back immediately and they said that's not possible because they never serviced the truck. They claimed they put it on the lift but never touched it. Obviously another lie. Asked to speak with the main manager and was told he's not here. Waited almost an hour for the manager to come back.( I couldn't drive off because I didn't feel safe in my vehicle.)They continued to lie to me and tell me they didn't service the alignment at all. The only thing I was trying to do was get an alignment done after completing a tire rotation. It was recommended to me by my tire guy. My wheels were never off alignment and the truck always drove straight. Now it's all out of whack and doesn't even look right. How could you lie to a customer PEP BOYS? If a technician doesn't know how to do a service or you don't have the proper machine you don't lie you tell the customer the honest truth. Once the manager showed up and I told him the story he was very aggressive towards me and raised his voice throughout the conversation, telling me his tech said he didn't service the vehicle and if I would like to watch the video recording? Upon going into the store and in the back where customers don't go to watch the recording with him there was a strong odor of marijuana. I mentioned it to him and he just shrugged it off. I continued to watch the recording and after a few minutes asked him what exactly we were looking for to prove the tech did not touch my vehicle for an alignment. He mentioned we were looking for a tool in his hand. I watched the tech put my truck on the lift, put on the sensors or whatever is needed to be put on the wheels, he had something in his hand and went underneath my vehicle for an extended amount of time. They insisted he was just "assessing" and all he had was a flash light. They insisted on making me feel dumb so that I would back down and be intimated. That's just not how I work. Plus my truck NEVER drove like it did until they serviced it. In the end I was consistently lied to by the manager Gregory Thurman and his employees. I spent several hours at that store speaking with the manager, reviewing the tape and having to go NEXT DOOR to Brake check to get the service done RIGHT. I would NEVER recommend pep boys to any friend, family member or stranger on the street. Bottom line BE HONEST WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS AND YOU WONT HAVE TO CREATE LIE AFTER LIE TO COVER UP YOUR MISTAKE. read more

Took my car to get ac fixed 2014 Ford Explorer they told me everything was working and that it was blowing at 32 degrees so it's cold in my mind that what I would think but not 5 minutes later I get in my car and ac does not even blow cold where on earth did this 32 degrees come from cause it was not my car at this point they did nothing to my car and they said send me a text while I'm on the phone with them telling me my car was ready once I call them to check on it they are no help when it came to my car did not fix ac and did not even take the time to solve the problem don't go here spend your money somewhere you can trust this place should be shut down read more

Went in because I hit my garage and shattered my side view mirror. Unfortunately they didn't have any for me in stock but Angel at the desk was extremely helpful! He helped me find somewhere I could find the piece and the cost of it. Knowing that I broke the mirror really made me anxious so it's nice knowing you can come here and someone will care about your vehicle just as much as you do. Rashad was absolutely amazing!!! I was next door at brake check getting a routine oil change and as I was leaving my car wouldn't start. The guys there was able to give me a jump and I came straight here since it was right next door. I typically go to Toyota for things like this but I didn't want to chance it so said let's give this place a try. I am soooo glad I did. Rashad greeted me as soon as I walked in and was able to assist me and had my car up and running in no time. He recommended a great product and made sure it was still very reasonable in price. Brought container with 12 qts oil to recycle. I'm the past, they have always been courteous and too the container, emptied it and returned it. This time the guy tells me (59 urs old w/bad back) to lift the 40-50 lbs container up 5 feet and hold it while it emptied myself. So pissed, I go inside to complain to the manager and they tell that that guy is the managed. Will never go to this place again. read more

I was passing through this area for work and didn't realize how bad my brakes were until I heard them grinding. I also needed an oil change so I located the closest Pep Boys very frantically called and spoke with the Service Manager Greg and he told me to come on in and I would be able to get seen immediately. That's exactly what happened once I got there. I was greeted with great customer service by Greg and Basil. They took excellent care of me with making jokes to calm me down, they not only told me the issues with my car but also took the time to show me exactly what they were speaking of. It was a very personable experience not rushed as I'm used to at mechanic shops. In addition Greg turned me on to a new car fragrance Bahama Breeze. He said I would love it and it's only been 1 day and he was right I absolutely love it more than my usual fragrance Morning Fresh lol! So now not only does my car ride way smoother with the repairs, but now it also smells amazing. I would totally go back to this location just to encounter Greg & Basil again. I have been to this store about 5 times now and I have learned who I can go to for help finding stuff and who I can't. I will never ask the old red head there Patti for any help since she is really no help at all. She just writes down a part number and says it is in aisle what ever. I have left the store and gone to a competitors that had better customer service. Now if you catch Taydera or Joe working you are in luck. These two will bend over backwards to help you find the correct stuff and even walk you to it. Due to Patti's customer service skills I spent $1000.00 at a competitor. You should cut your loss with that one. I will only come in in the evenings now and if she is there I usually just leave. read more

Lucy in service was great and she helped me out even though the store had never worked on a Smart Car before. Update: Since the previous review, I made a complaint on Pep Boy's website and have been contacted and apologized by the store manager. He assured me that they do not condone making pushy sales until they have completely figured out the real problem. These guys (including Patti) are great. I have an F150 with an A/C that wasn't cooling. I took it to one of those franchise auto repair & lube places when I was out of town, they told me that my compressor and dryer needed to be replaced for $850. I took it to Pep Boys fully expecting that repair would require compressor replacement, but they diagnosed problem and told me I had leak in system. Came in for an oil change and brake job. The price quoted seemed reasonable and the manager was polite, but he didn't mention that a10% shop fee would be added to my bill. I feel like I got scammed.
