Absolutely horrible place with unbelievably rude employees. Arrived for my scheduled appointment early on Saturday morning. I was told that they were not honoring any appointments until at least Thursday. I showed him all the "Appointment reminder" texts that Pep Boys has been sending me all week, he just shrugged and told me to drive to the other side of the city to a different location to get the repair done. Do not take your car to this establishment. I recently had an oil change done and the tech failed to tighten the coolant reserve tank after topping off. This resulted in my car overheating and most likely doing permanent damage. The guy working the front counter...I assume the manager...was completely condescending twice in our short interaction. I went to the store to get a brake job done, oil change and after market headlight bulbs put in. I don't mind paying a premium to get service done, Replacing the headlight bulbs i was quoted $98+tax no problem, but once I pull out the cash to pay they added a $35 shop fee. I've worked as a service advisor so I know the business... the manager should have discussed that with me prior to doing the job. Once I paid looked at the receipt and saw that charge I called the store, talked with the manager and he played the role of having a willing Ignorance of having no idea that was going to be charged, and never told me about it.... Danger - Do NOT Trust Purchased set of tires. 2 days later one of the wheels fell OFF!!!! Lugs were never torqued. Incompetent technicians and management. I had the vehicle towed back to the shop. The replaced the studs and lugs were replaced. Immediately took the vehicle to mechanic for inspection. Lugs were over tightened this time, to the point of stretching the studs threads and deforming the lug washer. Wheel locks were also to be replaced. Three weeks later no wheel locks. Asked about claim for expenses including towing charges. Answer - "Aaa, I submitted the claim." What is the claim number? "Aaa, I will have to find out and let you know" STAY AWAY!!!!! Absolutely horrible experience at the store on 71st and Memorial in Tulsa. Bought new tires in September. By December one of them was almost completely bald. Took the vehicle back in, waited for over three hours without my car even being pulled in to the bay. No explanation or ETA given. When they finally looked at my tire, we were told it needed suspension work totaling over $2k and that they wouldn't even touch the tire unless we agreed to the suspension work. They then blamed us for not maintaining our vehicle. We regularly service and maintain All of our vehicles, so this was complete nonsense. Our tires were barely three months old. They refused to make good on it. We went to another tire shop and within 30 minutes had a new tire back on our vehicle. -5 stars, do not recommend!! read more

My husband went to work here months ago when they had nobody to work there. He said he was gonna make it a good shop again. He worked for them along time ago. Shop was a mess, corporate would not train managers or fix the shop. So they quit. Just to bring in a new manager that no nothing about cars or customer service. He is rude and condescending. My husband tried and tried to make it work, but new manager i will call idiot was not trying himself. He expected him to check out cars all day and fix all same day. He was only A level mechanic, doing all by himself. The manager would like to threaten him with when he had worked all day 100 degrees and say if you don't like it here pack and leave. So he did, he did not quit. HE WAS TOLD TO LEAVE. So district manager you lost a good honest man, just because you are afraid to do right thing. Car had a flat tire was towed to one location that didn't even keep tires in stock there! I was not happy a about this and the best they could do is order a tire for me. I was then towed to another location after getting into an argument. I then placed an order at this new location for a tire.. it was Wednesday buy next Tuesday i still had not tire and no shipping in sight! This was unbelievable as it as it should not have taken this at all!!!!!! Every time i went in there they were watching TV or smoking! ????? BE LEARY. No oil in vehicle nor were the tires rotated with a scheduled oil change and rotation. This location has negligent service and the customer service is lacking also. Made on online appt for a 10:30 am oil change and tire rotation. Service wasn't complete until 2 pm. Within a mile of of the location, oil light came on. Pulled over and there's no oil in the vehicle. Drove back to the location and showed them how the oil didn't even register on the dip stick. The manage said they rectify the situation immediately and would do the service over again. The oil change took an hour and half. I checked the oil level before leaving. No show of concern or concerted effort to see what they could do to make me a returning customer. After the 2nd service, the tire pressure warning light was on. The car was supposed to have 35 psi in the tires. Not one tire was over 30 psi. I did contact pepsocial@pepboys and all they did was redirect me back to the manager on location at that time of the service. He did offer my next oil change for free. But why would I want a free service on negligent work? I'm just hoping upper management is handling internally so other customers are getting great service for what they paid. read more

I had scheduled an appointment to replace a headlight bulb. The person at the desk looked at my Jeep and told me i could only have a HID bulb installed, and it would take upwards of $500 to get done (factoring in the bulb and labor). I felt they were trying to take advantage of the fact I am a young female and don't know much better. I ended up buying the bulb at O'reilly's for $140 with tax and having a mechanic at Walmart install it for $7.50. I don't recommend going to this store because they can and will attempt to take advantage of any naïveté. read more

The person who works the front desk will not be trying to help you. Not really. Go for one of the guys in the back who actually CARES about getting you a good price. My experience: I try to avoid all Pep Boys at all costs. Unfortunately for me, my car broke down close to Saturday evening and nothing was close by. It took them 2 hours to diagnose the problem, and when they did, they said they'd have to fix it tomorrow because they were closed. This would've been fine except for the fact that I don't live in Tulsa. I was obviously upset but couldn't do anything. The next day, their warehouse LOST my part and the front desk guy tried to scramble around to get a new one. I was SUPER angry because we only had an hour before they closed. Yes, it took them ALL day to wait for a replacement. Their ONLY redeeming factor was when one of the kindest mechanics came out to us and told us to buy the part ourselves. He told us who to call and what to get. We got it and he fixed it within the hour. But wouldn't you know, now my horn doesn't work! I appreciate him otherwise this would be a ZERO star review. Truly. Honestly, I would avoid this place like the plague but it's getting more stars just because of the ONE mechanic who actually tried to help us. If you can swag it, go somewhere else. My boyfriend needed a new carburetor for his car and he went to Pep Boys to have them install it. They made him buy the part at O'Reilly's and when they installed it, they installed it wrong. He had to exchange the part himself at O'Reilly's without a vehicle 3 times and they NEVER fixed it properly. To make things worse, BEFORE they even started working on his car, they had it in their lot for a whole day and someone broke into it, busted his window, and ripped out his deck. And guess what? Pep Boys wasn't responsible, even though it was on their lot and they had his keys. They claimed that their "we're not reliable" statement was on his receipt. But he didn't get his receipt until they were done working on his car. How was he to know? And when they were finally done, his car was broken into, AND ran worse that in did when he gave it to them. I never go to auto stores since I know very little about cars at all. But I needed an oil change and thought I'd give Pep boys a shot. I arrived early to my appointment (I scheduled online) only to be told it would be awhile since there were a few other cars being worked on. Why did I even bother making and appointment hours earlier? Ok that's fine. I was then informed my oil change would take about an hour. Let me be honest, an hour is way to long for an oil change on a 91 Toyota pick up. It's a super simple process. But again, what ever, I'll be patient. An hour comes and goes and my oil is still not changed. Finally nearly two hours after I first arrived, the job is complete. The employees were pleasant enough but come on, the time it took for my oil change was enough for me to never return. Wal-Mart is probably a way better bet than Pep boys. read more

I bought a tire from amazon and the schedule service was at this pep boys for them to install on my car. I ordered my tire beginning of April and it was delivered to the Pep Boys April 16 according to the tracker confirming it had arrived and also the email confirmation amazon gave me thru email. I setup my appointment thru amazon for April 23rd. Pep Boys sent me an email to setup my appoint for a later date which is fine. So I moved the date to May 2nd. They confirmed May 2nd worked between 8am-11am. So I arrived to Pep Boys at 8:17am on May 2nd and said hi, "I have an appointment thru amazon today between 8am-11am." The guy said your tire isn't here. He replied let me go check. He literally opened the shop door and turned back around and said yeah it's not here. Then I pull out my amazon tracking order and say it says it was delivered here on April 16th and a guy by the name of Dunn signed for it! He replied I'm Dunn and he said amazon must have made a mistake. U have to take it up with them. At this point I'm in disbelief. He says and I quote. "What do you want me to do make it appear out my mouth, it's not here!" At this point I felt it was best I just leave the situation and just request a refund from Amazon. When I know Pep Boys probably used my tire on another car. I will NEVER go back. It was the worst tire experience in my life. I hope cooperate reads this and fires DUNN! This is for the service dept. I bought a used car. It had custom mags on it. I lived in an apt. complex, so I went in and bought some wheel locks. I tried to take off one wheel lug nut off and it would not come off. It was on a Sunday Afternoon. So I went to the service Dept. There was about 4 or 5 employees working in there. I told them That I had purched some wheel locks and needed them to install them on my car. The guy told they could, but it would be about 5hr wait. For 4 lugs to be replaced????? Absolutely the worst service department I've ever been to. They lied about what service was being done to my vehicle and refused to address it when I questioned them. Was told I would need to talk to Wayne, the Service Manager, but he won't pick up the line when I call. I purchased a brand new Palisade that has a water leak via the antenna. I was told the antenna needed to be replaced. I waited a week for the part to come in. No one ever called me to let me know it had arrived, I had to call up there to check it the status of the part, only to be told it has been lying around the shop since earlier in the week. During the week long wait, it rained every single day of the week, causing water to accumulate in the rear light fixture and on the seats. I told the service department I was very concerned about the headliner since it had been soaking wet for a week straight and wanted it replaced. Wayne said they'd "take a look at it." When I picked up my vehicle, I noticed a horrendous odor. I asked about it and was told they sprayed disinfectant all over the liner. I did NOT approve this chemical to be used in my vehicle. They sprayed so much of it that I had drip marks down the sides of the doors/walls from it running down (I took pictures for proof). Additionally, had I known they were spraying chemicals, I would have removed my daughters car seat, which was also ruined by the chemical. To top it all off, I read the labor report and it said they tightened the bolt to the antenna instead of replacing it. If all they needed to do was tighten the bolt, why didn't they do it the first time I took my vehicle in for the leak? read more

Unhelpful and rude. I purchased my car at Hertz who partners with Pep Boys. Right after purchasing my car I had a problem with the muffler so they sent me to Pep Boys to get it fixed. I made an appointment online with notes about what I needed fixed. I even checked a box to have them call me. No one called but I figured they didn't need any more information so I showed up at my appointment time. The man inside asked me what I was needing done and looked at me like I was stupid when I said I needed my muffler looked at. He rudely and shortly said "we don't do muffler work here." I explained my situation with Hertz and he gave me the exact same response. He didn't offer any other help and ignored me after that. I got my car fixed in one hour that same day at Midas and dealt with very friendly people. Will not come back to Pep Boys to have any other work done. read more

I purchased 4 new tires in November 2019, for approx. $750.00 including free installation. Within a week or so, I thought I might be losing some air in left rear tire. Before having tires changed, none of the tires had any leaking issues, and I have owned car since new in 2002. Every 3-4 weeks or so, the tire seemed to need airing up. Finally, in April 2020, I took car back to see why this was happening. After waiting about 45 minutes, they took car in. Tech proceeded to check for air leaks and found the valve stem to be leaking. Instead of trying to just replace the valve stem core, they broke down the tire, put a new valve stem in, and charged me over $22.00 to repair a faulty part they had installed. Service manager said the charge is valid because I did not purchase the Road Hazard warranty. Too me, this job should have been done gratis. In addition, the work order was written up as tire repair and balancing. I observed the entire procedure, and tire was not rebalanced. I have been a long time PEP Boys customer, but no longer. In addition, their lot outside the garage bay doors are littered with nasty cigarette butts, and they sit and smoke right in the first bay, they need to provide for a smoking area away from the work routine areas and keep their property picked up. No promised call back was ever received from PEP boys related to an online complaint I filed about this. I wish I could have rated this a big fat ZERO. read more

The only reason I still go to the store for service is for the past year or so there is a guy that works there named Larry, whom I have found to be one of the best people they have working in the store as far as in the service department. He is always a big help but as of lately I have noticed he is not happy working there, and the last time I spoke with him which was just a couple days ago, he stated that he may be looking for a new job. To whomever it may concern, you need to do something to keep this guy, even if it means offering him more money, because if he leaves I will take my business wherever he goes and I am sure others will do the same, because you just can't find a nicer, helpful, and friendlier person to take care of you. Potential customers of Pep Boys need to be aware that, should you have an issue with their services, The corporate headquarters will do nothing to resolve any problems. I have waited two months for a call from a "district manager" or a "regional manager" over an issue. I have called the "customer service" line four times and been promised that I would be called back by one of these "managers" and never heard anything from any one. Each time I called I was told I would be called back within "24 to 48 hours". It never happened. I am now planning to retain an attorney. read more

Another great job at the Tulsa Pep Boys. Today I had by daughters car brought in, I thought it was expensive suspension stuff, they told me nope and I got out with just a $160 set of tires. Every time I come in (I have been coming here for 15 years) they are honest, only fix what needs to be fixed and do a great job. Yes, like other reviewers said they are not fast. But they make up for it in fair deals and quality work in my experience, and for a non-mechanic like me, that honesty is so nice to have. read more

First time to use a Pep Boys and this place was a complete & total disappointment. I scheduled a 10:00 appointment for an oil change & tire alignment. After my car sitting untouched for 90 minutes I asked the counter rep how long he thought it would be before they got started on mine. He stated they must have done the walk in appointments before my scheduled appointment but it would take another hour & a half and I would be done. An hour later only the oil change was done, but I had to leave to make another appointment. I spoke briefly with the manager, Charles, to explain the issues with time management I had experienced. I received a voicemail from Charles a few days later asking that I come back and let them make it right. I gave them the benefit of doubt and scheduled another 10:00 appointment this morning with Charles for the alignment. Charles quoted me an estimated 45 minute work time. It took an hour and 45 minutes for the alignment during which time I was lectured by the counter rep for getting him in trouble with his regional manager the last time I was there. Very professional, right? Stopped to let Charles know as I was leaving that I was confused as to why he wanted me to come back or how he thought anything was made right...there was yet another unreasonable expectation of time set, no discount, and I had to listen to a lecture from an employee. The best part is that the alignment is still completely off and the tire tread depth numbers are completely different than they were exactly a week ago. Can you tell me how a back tire goes from a 6 to an 8 in a week, while the front tires go from a 5 to a 1? Would not ever go back. Would not ever recommend. read more
