First time to use a Pep Boys and this place was a complete & total disappointment. I scheduled a 10:00 appointment for an oil change & tire alignment. After my car sitting untouched for 90 minutes I asked the counter rep how long he thought it would be before they got started on mine. He stated they must have done the walk in appointments before my scheduled appointment but it would take another hour & a half and I would be done. An hour later only the oil change was done, but I had to leave to make another appointment. I spoke briefly with the manager, Charles, to explain the issues with time management I had experienced. I received a voicemail from Charles a few days later asking that I come back and let them make it right. I gave them the benefit of doubt and scheduled another 10:00 appointment this morning with Charles for the alignment. Charles quoted me an estimated 45 minute work time. It took an hour and 45 minutes for the alignment during which time I was lectured by the counter rep for getting him in trouble with his regional manager the last time I was there. Very professional, right? Stopped to let Charles know as I was leaving that I was confused as to why he wanted me to come back or how he thought anything was made right...there was yet another unreasonable expectation of time set, no discount, and I had to listen to a lecture from an employee. The best part is that the alignment is still completely off and the tire tread depth numbers are completely different than they were exactly a week ago. Can you tell me how a back tire goes from a 6 to an 8 in a week, while the front tires go from a 5 to a 1? Would not ever go back. Would not ever recommend. read more

I was referred here for a part since another area store didn't carry what I was needing. From the moment I walked in the employees weren't excited, or enthusiastic in the least. The store is big, and they have a huge selection of items, but only 3 people on the floor. I went looking for an associate at the back counter, had them look up my part and they weren't able to find it. I don't blame them for not carrying it/having it in stock. But the attitude of the person helping was horrible. He seemed annoyed, bored, and careless. maybe he had a bad day. He made mine a little worse with his demeanor and tone. I don't plan to return for any parts or accessories. read more

We were in Tulsa for a Saturday noon family wedding. After the wedding my husband's car wouldn't start. Relatives jumped it off and he went to Pep Boys across from Woodland Hills Mall. The tech told him they would not be able to get to him that day since it was already 4 PM and to return on Monday. He explained that he was from out of town and needed to travel to Baton Rouge, LA on Sunday to return to work on Monday. The tech checked with the manager and they worked him in late in the day and worked after hours to finish the job. The starter needed to be replaced and the price quoted was based on a standard 2 hours of labor. The Hyundai starter is not easily accessible so the job took 4 hrs., not 2. He was charged for two hours labor just as they quoted and the starter was replaced. We appreciated the human kindness to work him in late in the day, the kindness to someone from out of state in a jam, and Pep Boys standing behind their word on the quote. I recommend this business! What more can I say than ''very satisfied". I have been bringing my little truck there for years and have never had a bad experience. The service manager Mike is always friendly and helpful. He has always taken time to explain any necessary repairs to me in a way I can understand and makes sense. Living in an urban environment that never promises the same customer service face twice, Mike is a breath of fresh air and always has a friendly smile and helpful manner. Went in to get new tires installed. They lost one lug nut and stripped another one, now I can't get this wheel off. Customer service was also horrible and I never seen anyone smile one time the entire experience. Cashier had an attitude like he wanted to kill himself. All around 2/10 experience. This review is on the service side, not the retail side of this store. Every time I visit this location for convenience (it's nearby and they are open much later than most service stations) they alway seem to have issues with organization. My most recent visit last week lee to a delay in getting my brakes repaired because even after I had dropped my car off and was told it would take about and hour and a half, they failed to mention the part required would not be in until the next day. It took over seven minutes waiting on hold for them to tell me this. I choose this place as a last resort when I need a repair or oil change at the last minute (I will admit I'm a terrible procrastinator when it comes to auto maintenance). And although the manager took $30 off the price as a way to keep my business, they added an additional "shop fee" of $14. Anyone I've spoken to has had similar experiences with this place. So be forewarned if you come here and be sure to call for updates because they are too disorganized to call you back. Also, their estimates are far less than the actual time it will take to service your vehicle. read more

Buyer Beware! This shop takes advantage of elderly customers. My 80 yr old mother took her Equinox in to have the AC recharged. Was told a complete diagnostic was performed and needed new lines, valve kit, relays, etc....$600 later...drove her car less than 10 miles and AC is blowing hot air again. Back to Pep Boys, another round of diagnostics now showing hole in compressor...another $600. I took it to the local Chevy Dealership...they said yes there is a hole in the compressor that any trustworthy shop should have seen during the initial diagnostic. The dealership said a dye diagnostic had not been performed on this car! Back to Pep Boys with this new information....the Manager at Pep Boys said "I don't care what the dealership says!" and would not even consider any type of refund! Brought my truck here on 12/29/18 to get new tires it took about 2 hours I started heading home when my tires started losing pressure in all of my tires. I was able to make to the nearest pep boys to see what the problem was turns out that they broke 3 of 4 of my tire sensors and just put the tires back together which in turn started losing tire pressure. The pep boys I stopped at are trying to fix the problem still with no results by giving they gave me four new tire sensors but those are not reading right now looks like ford is the only way to get it fixed. Pep boys say they will reimburse me if I go the ford way and get the ford parts for what they damaged will keep you informed. read more

Terrible experience. I scheduled a synthetic oil change yesterday. On their website it offered a 30 minute guarantee with appointment and was $49.99 with coupon (which I had). Not only was I charged over $60, but I was there for well over an hour. When I asked the cashier about it, he said that it was because they used an "unrefined" oil and that's why I was charged so much. I would think that should have been discussed prior to just doing it. He wouldn't honor their price or time guarantee. I have never written a bad review anywhere, but I think future customers deserve to know this place is dishonest. read more

Honestly the worst car service I have ever received! I went in there two weeks ago to get a new battery and not even 24 hours later, I went out to my car and the power was completely off. My car had no power to start. I popped the hood, jiggled the battery a little and messed with the negative connection (already a red flag!) and it turned on. I immediately took it to Pep Boys to complain about the battery and the workers ALL said that there was nothing wrong with it. Two weeks pass, my battery dies again. I jump it, take it to work and it loses power while I'm driving in the middle of the INTERSECTION at 71st and Memorial. So I'm angry at this point and I take it back to Pep Boys and I tried to tell them what happened. The manager immediately cuts me off and says that the battery isn't the problem, it's the alternator. They took one look at me as a young, attractive woman and completely dismissed my intelligence and knowledge of my own car. They refused to listen to me when I explained how the battery was not installed properly. They dismissed everything I said and said that they were going to run an alternator diagnostic which I did NOT tell them to do. Again, I told them that I wasn't going to be paying for that diagnostic, I wanted them to look at the battery. I had to call my father to call them and they listened to him loud and clear. After a few hours I got a call from them saying that the battery WASN'T installed properly and it was their fault. Their only redeeming quality is after the third time, they admit that they screwed up. read more

On 11/11/16 Pep Boys installed a 02 sensor on my 05 Pontiac van On 11/21/16 on returning from out of town trip the "check engine " was on again. I took the vehicle to GM dealer for further diagnosing and was told that some one had screwed up the wiring and shorted out the sensor so I will have to pay for another sensor because of someones carelessness or inexperience. I can not recomend this facility nor will I be returning. T his was the second sensor installed within a 30 day period.. read more

They attempted to do a simple battery installation. It took them 45 minutes. When I got home and opened the hood I noticed they had broken one of the tie-down hooks and replaced it with one that was too short to fit in the appropriate notch and had hidden the hook under the battery plate. The tech that did it assured me that it had been fixed. I took it back the next day and a master mechanic cut and fitted a new hook properly. Shoddy work that they tried to cover up. read more

Avoid this Pep Boys. Went for a new battery around November 1, 2017. First sign of trouble, no one could figure out how to get the battery out of my 2011 Chevrolet Suburban. It took almost two hours before they were finished. Now fast forward to 3 days before Christmas and my car would not start or charge. Nothing worked the ignition did not engage. I had to have my car towed to an expert in electronic systems on cars. Should have known if they could not get a battery out they sure could not install. These people are not trained. The Admiral location mounted my new Michelins on the wrong end of the car. I had requested them to be placed on the front,they placed them on the back. Went to fuel and noticed my rear wheel logo caps were missing. No doubt they were taken off to put on the new tires. They never made good on my loss. Yet my visit was approx. $1000.00 between 2 tires, new brake pads for all 4 wheels and front end alignment (which would have benefited the new Michelins, had they been mounted correct per my instructions ). Don't take your service business there. They don't have your back or your best interests in mind. read more

Went here because I needed an oil change and tire rotation and the place I usually go to doesn't do tire rotation. I scheduled an 8am appointment, first one in and my car didn't go back until 8:30. At 8:45 my car was done and my keys sat on the counter waiting for check out but nobody came to talk to me. Only after approaching the counter and checking out and leaving to do other errands I cam home and realized my tires had never been rotated ( I know this because one of my wheels is different from the other 3 and it was still in the same position). Absolutely WORTHLESS! I have spent 2 evenings there this week and now I am without a vehicle for the entire weekend due their total incompetence. I had a broken heater hose connector that took over 3 hours to replace on Wednesday (I looked up everything and told them what it was), after getting the part from O'Reillys (because they didn't have it) I was told it didn't fit correctly and would eventually need to be replaced with a GM part. OK, I can handle that; I just didn't think "eventually" meant the next day. Friday evening I pull off the road and turn off the A/C as it smelled hot and my temperature gauge started to go above the halfway mark (which it has never done) and before I can get into a parking lot, the gauge shoots up, dashboard lights say A/C OFF and ENGINE HOT and smoke starts coming through the A/C vents. I called Pep Boys and had the truck towed back to their store. I was told the problem was because of the new connector and they would have to get one from a GM dealer (which were closed by this time). I was told they would call "first thing" at 7:00 am to get the part and call me to come in. When I hadn't heard anything by 10:00, I called them - when the phone was finally answered, the guy who said he was the assistant manager was very rude and said when he checked the computer, it showed the last time I was in was for an oil change. When I asked whether or not they had gotten the part, he said he would have to start calling dealers. About an hour later, someone else called me back to say they couldn't get the part today because the dealer didn't have any delivery people working today. I told him if they had called earlier and had let me know, I could have made arrangements to get the part picked up. I was then told how busy they were and he was having to deal with several other pissed off customers just like me, and he "knew it wasn't my problem". I explained to him that it WAS my problem because I now have no vehicle for the entire weekend. I'm hoping now that their ignorance has not caused and permanent damage to my truck. I understand that they stay busy, but when they have time to be stashing snacks and drinks at the service desk, stand around talking and joking, taking turns riding one of the miniature motorcycles around the parking lot, making trips to their personal vehicles, and slurping down noodles out of a cup (all of which I witnessed while I was there) they should have plenty of time to do their jobs. read more

I agree with it being a waste making an appointment, made one online for 1pm, didn't get vehicle in for over 45 minutes. We had a coupon for an oil change, tire rotation and 27 point check, needless to say no tire rotation even after I made another request for it. Guess I too will be going to Wal-Mart from now on. The Pep Boys "Diagnosis SCAM"! I tried to tell my daughter not to go to places like this but, she just didn't listen. So, in she goes to Pep Boys with the smooth "we won't charge for diagnosis if you do the repair here" story. Well, they kept her car for hours to tell her that her compressor was bad (old days they knew this without $100+ Diagnosis) and the cost of repair would be just south of $1500.00. She has an old Nissan Altima and compressors anywhere and everywhere are right at $300.00. So, Pep Boys "Generous" offer of no diagnostic charge kept the labor from being $1350.00 and "only" $1200.00?! (Add the Diagnostic they would have charged). It's a scam! Here's what it really is; "we don't really want to do any work on your air conditioner but, we'll tell you to come on down with no worries on cost because we'll absorb it in the repair cost. Then, we'll charge so much for this work we never intended to do that you'll refuse repair and we collect the diagnostic fee for a diagnosis we may or, may not have done. Seeya sucker"! i have spent over $2500.00 trying to get the front end of my car to ride smoother... ive replaced strut, tie rods, sway bars, linkages new tires, twice, etc etc etc... my latest i told them the drivers side tie rod was bad, and popping.....i get it home... same dam tie rod is there. they replaced the wrong side..REALLY?????? im tired of this bs....... read more
