Customer service and professionalism. Asked to have tire pressure sensors checked and replaced while tires were off rims and was not done now they say I can bring my car back in but they will charge me to dismount and remount my tires to replace sensors. When I read my receipt and realized this wasn't done I called and told them about it. Now I know I watched the guy who checked me in did write on the work order to check or replace sensors. He also told me they would be like $40 a piece. Anyway the guy i talked to when I called after I realized this, Shad told me they just forgotten do it and bring it back and they would of course charge me for dismount and recount. I took my 2016 Kia Forte to the West Vally Pep Boys on 3500 S. They told me that I need a new engine. I took my car to Ken Garff and they said that all I needed is a new thermostate and an alternator. The Pep Boy machanics don't know what they are doing and should be relieved of their duty. I went in for a tire rotation, because I bought tires there and to get the alignment checked. I described an issue with vibration during braking which was not shaking side to side but like the brakes go heavy ad hten light repeatedly. My Brother in Nevada told me that is sometimes just air in the brake lines. Pep boys had a different idea. First they got my car in and tired off and then said my brakes were bad. Showing where there was a different color of rotor showing on one side. No gouging, just different. Said I needed many things, pins, sleeves pads and rotors. Then he asked me over and over if I was a cop, or if I worked for some law enforcement agency. Once he was convinced I didn't he wanted to charge me nearly 1200 bucks for the brake fix. Not even calipers. Just pads and rotors and other little pieces. Said I had heavy duty brakes. Which I looked up and there is no reason I would have those on a car that only tows 2k. If you are a WVC cop reading this, maybe you guys should go look at them. I'm taking my car in to another independent place to get pictures taken and an inspection of what criminal mischief these guys were up to. My dealership told me my break pads needed to be replaced at 16,000 miles. The price they quoted was astronomical! I took my car to Pep Boys West Valley and they told me my breaks were hardly even worn. They inspected them at no charge. I appreciate their honesty and will take my car there from now on. A year ago they replaced my break fluid for half the price of the dealership so their prices are fair too. read more

Went in to change ONE popped tire. Had us waiting TWO hours. Apparently they said they had a tire available at shop, but after waiting an hour, we had to ask again if they worked on the car and they said they dont have have the tire! So they offered another tire that took another hour to change. All for the low price of $170 ($50 more expensive than other shops that were closed at the time). Absolute waste of time. read more

I wanted to make this review because I am disappointed in the way pep boys conducted their customer service at this location. The guy with the blue hair at the front kept advising me he would call me back in a couple of mins to advise me on a quote with my car's alternator. But he never did and I hope all the calls are recorded because I called every single day for that quote but that person kept putting me off for no reason. 2nd they did an "engine diagnostic" and said "they were messing with the alternator to try and salvage the alternator " which was a complete lie. Because 3 days later they advised i needed " a whole new alternator and battery " and were charging more than 1000 dollars for this. I didn't do it because I didn't have the money and when I lifted the hood of my car when i picked it up, it was missing my serpentine belt, I went back in to ask for my belt back since " they were trying to salvage my alternator " they might have missed it but no they said they never took my alternator. (In a very rude way) So what was I paying a 100 dollars for an " engine diagnostic " ? You guys could've just put a belt in my car and would've been so much less trouble. Did you guys even lift up my hood? Turns out the belt was all I needed for my car. Not a new battery or new alternator. I would be careful with this location because when I was there the guy in the blue hair started giving someone else the run around over the phone. Very poor customer service. I make an appointment on their web site, I get two confirmations and when I get there, I get the, "Oh, I'm sorry, but there is only two of us and there is a 2 hour wait" followed by the same old bullshit about their antiquated system not being able to communicate with anything other than a TI-Calculator. If they are that far behind in technology, how can they properly provide service for anything newer that a 1980 VW Bug? Why would I wait around for to hours for such crappy customer service. My husband and I dropped our vehicle 3 and a half hours ago. My husband called to get an update and had him on hold for 15 minutes and forgot about him. He hung up and called again and had told him they hadn't even started our car for a COOLANT CHANGE!!. They're super under staffed and unprofessional for not being upfront. The perfect sense of humor to fill my tired morning hour... I needed some 3A 12 volt fuses to replace the one that just blew out and rendered my ciggy plug cooler useless. Panic! I stay around the corner at the Country Inn & Suites twice a week, and this cooler keeps my return food (I drive a truck between Reno and Salt Lake City) cold while I sleep and await my return trip. Service varies greatly here. Day 1 = A rep is at the front desk ready to help you. Day 2 = I wait 5 minutes before a rep shows up at the front desk. My husband and I took our truck in to get our flat tire fixed and ended up replacing all 4 tires for a great price. We also bought some items that we needed in the event we needed to change a tire ourselves or tighten the lug nuts on our truck. Well where do I start. I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks in advance to have tires installed at this Pep Boys after previously purchasing the tires somewhere else. The tires were eventually shipped to the store. When I arrived to have them installed, the tires were nowhere to be found, even though I had a receipt stating they had arrived days earlier. When on the phone with the shipper they stated the tires do show they had arrived at the proper store but were willing to send the tires again to the same store free of charge. The Pep Boys clerk (whom I found out was the manager that day) swore up and down to the shipper that they didn't get them, didn't recognize the name of the person who received them. I eventually pulled my tracking shipping receipt from my phone and found the name of the person who had signed up for the tires. Again, the Pep Boys manager said to me we have no one under that name. However, from his reaction, I could tell that he recognized the name. I discreetly asked another clerk if they knew the name on the receipt and oh surprise, yes she works here! A few minutes later, oh miracle, my tires were found. The Pep Boys manager mumbled a light apology. Results: I lost one full hour of my time waiting for them to locate my tires, waited for another 3:30 hrs to have them installed, was placed in the waiting area with no TV on and pretty much was ignored for over 4 hrs. To top everything else, I had to ask for my car to be removed from the lift, they had forgotten about me lol. The "manager" checked me out, no apology, wanted me to wait in line to check out. Wonder if it is b/c I am a woman from another country. Anyhow, I hope my tires are installed right b/c customer service at that location is definitely not their strength. UPDATE 09/18/2019: After my review and complaining to corporate, the manager gave me a call and sincerely apologized. I was even offered a couple oil changes for my trouble. We shook hands and all is now forgotten. I left him with a message: "I may be a small woman w/ a foreign accent but don't judge a book by its cover..." Hopefully, he learned something that day. Honestly, I should have just gone to Master Muffler to see why my brakes were squealing. I brought my car in 2 hours before closing for a brake inspection and I didn't get my car back until the next day just before closing. The service manager is a joke too. All he does is give excuses as to why things aren't done as quick as they could be. I get that you were understaffed, but shouldn't the service MANAGER know how to fix a car too? I feel like I was over charged as well. I was originally quoted a certain amount and then was charged $10 more. I honestly feel robbed. Again, I've learned my lesson. My husband went to get his horn and tires fixed. While they were "fixing" the horn they told my husband they found a hole in the air conditioning condenser. Umm, the air conditioning was working just perfectly an hour ago on the way to the pep boys location. Now it does not work. I don't know what they did but this is extremely fishy. Keep an eye on this business. I am very hurt and very upset that they would do this. UPDATE: we took the car back in and told them we think the mechanic did something since it was working just fine before we took it in. They took a look at it and actually owned up to it. I was very impressed with this. They ordered the condenser and they did end up fixing it. My husband and I had a trip to California we needed to take for business and the air conditioner was not working properly. Going through Vegas and Baker was miserable. It was extremely hot and the air conditioner was not working. This caused my husband and I a bunch of stress. Now we have to take this back to them again... UPDATE: My husband took the car back to them and told them what was going on. they told him they would not even touch his car because my earlier review mentioned that I might need to get a lawyer for this one. They told him they will not work on cars when I am threatening legal action. If I removed that I am threatening legal action they will fix it. So i removed that part of the review so that they would fix the air conditioning that they broke. So They said it was probably over pressurized and a cut off switch was tripping. They said they will bleed off the extra Freon and that should fix the problem. When we got the car back the air conditioner was finally working wonderfully. Then the HORN WENT OUT AGAIN............. This has been the most frustrating experience ever and we will never ever go back to pep boys. read more

I never leave reviews. They aren't worth my time; however, my experience at pep boys has been so incredibly negative that I am taking the time to write this review. If I could give negative stars, I would. My father ordered me tires online for christmas. The price was great for a good quality snow tire. We scheduled an appointment to have them put on. I showed up for my appointment on time and was told they don't even have the tires in stock. They sent me to the pep boys in West Valley, who did show the tires were in stock. I schedule a new appointment and again show up on time. At this appointment, there is at least a friendly front attendant to help me. However, they can only find 3 tires. So, we decide to put 2 tires on at that time and 2 tires on in 2 days. Unfortunately, they didn't say the card the tires were purchased with needed to be present to get the tires. So, because my dad purchased the tires online and was not present, we rescheduled again. I show up today with my father, again on time for my scheduled appointment at 9:30. The person working the front desk seems scattered and says he will be with us momentarily. At 9:45, after answering his cell phone, he starts to help us. We ask how long it will take and he says 1 hr 15 min. We leave and come back 1 hour 15 min later and they have just barely pulled my car back. My father tells them he is in a hurry and needs to pay, and it takes them 15 min more before they ring us up. They also let me know I need a new bolt and lug nut, which will cost another $50. So, I sit in the waiting room for another 30 min and then find out they don't have the part in stock, and it will be at least another hour. So, after 2.5 hours from my scheduled appointment I'm feeling incredibly frustrated. I have an appointment to get to, which I'm now going to be late for. I voice my frustration and their response is, well we didn't do this to your bolt. Finally, 3.5 hours after my scheduled appointment my car is done. Except now the bolt is $60. I don't think the $100 saved on tires was worth the time and frustration that went along with it. In total, i spent 5 hours trying to get tires on my car. Not to mention the gas money spent to drive from one store to another and still having to go back to that store on a 2nd day. The customer service was horrible, as was the store and service manager. The only person that was at all friendly and apathetic was the guy working the front desk. There was no point in scheduling an appointment or purchasing the tires prior, because they didn't honor the appointment time and the purchase actually took place in the store. They fail to give you the necessary information at the time of the online purchase to come prepared. It was just one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any store. Went into this Pep Boys this morning to get oil filters and oil for two new vehicles needing a first service. The catalogs available for filter fitment were from 2010 and 2012. I asked the staff about it - "The filters for those vehicles have not changed. What's listed in the old catalogs will fit." One of the vehicles is the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee - it's not even listed in those old catalogs. I left without making a purchase. read more
