I had 2 new tires put on my truck that has plastic center wheel caps. Told the person to be careful because they break easily. Got it back and 2 lug nut covers were missing, and 1 wheel cap was broken which they tried to glue back together. When I went back, they couldn't find the covers, so they ordered some, but no answer for the cracked center cap. Very poor service! read more

I rate this store at a Huge Zero. First off we went to have tires put on check the starter that was making a bad noise when starting while they were doing the tires we were told we needed a whole new front end. We proceeded with having it done which was a total of 6300.00. We told them that we had a lifetime warranty on the starter they told us that we had the wrong starter and changed it but still made the noise , now they tell us we need a new fly wheel. It did have some chewed spots but nothing major and the starter still made the noise. After having the truck for weeks at a time they finally told us after 7 starters they couldn't do anything with it and come get it. We called a mobile mechanic and he he came our and in 20 minutes told us the problem it was out of timing. Now you have a million dollar company and they can't figure out that issue but a mobile mechanic can. So we proceed to file a complaint in March now know that the work was done in December. We call corporate they in return call randy the store manager who in return calls us we explain to him we should get some of the money back. He says email him the receipt of the mobile mechanic and he will see what he can do , we call march, April and nothing call today may 5th and speak with Jonathan at corporate office, he calls randy and he just bold faced lied about the situation and then Jonathan calls mobile mechanic and he tells them what the problem was well since the fly wheel had some marks they said it was necessary to change it and as for the mobile mechanic they could not give us that money back either but here is what Jonathan says we don't want you to have a sour taste in your mouth about us and we believe you are good people and not trying to get over on us so we will give a few oil changes and no charge . We said well we do have a sour taste and your mechanics ate incompetent and you have screwed us. Scheduled an oil change for the "available time" of 3:00pm and showed up for my appointment at 2:40pm. I chose to wait at pepboys for the oil change to be completed. It is 4:00pm now, and my car has not moved from the parking place I parked it in. Not sure what the reason is for this huge delay, but what is the point of a scheduled service if it's not able to be worked on at that time??? I shouldn't have been able to schedule an appointment for that time if they wouldn't be able to start my service until over an hour later. Will not come back! read more

Scheduled a transmission flush service over 2 days in advance online with pepboys.com. I drove 25 miles to the nearest Pep Boys shop. When I arrived, I was informed that there was no service tech scheduled for that day. This is a "service" only location... no store. I asked why I was allowed to schedule an appointment there if there would not be any techs scheduled to work. Rule counter associate said, "Well I can't do it, I'm not a tech". That is not what I asked him. I was informed "you can call on Monday and speak with Danny if you don't like it". Totally rude and unprofessional! I will not be back. I will watch for Pep Boys in bankruptcy court soon. Wasted time and money on travel for nothing. Don't waste your time or money here unless you have nothing better to do. read more

I had an appointment for an oil change at 8 AM. Arrived at 7:45 and was told that it would be 2 to 2 1/2 hours before they got to me. when I inquired why my 8 o'clock wouldn't be handled until 1030, they said that the Internet just takes all of the appointments for any given hour that it can. This is extremely poor customer service and I will never go back to Pep Boys again. . I now know why they have just a two star rating. read more

I had to remind them about my car being there and then It took them 2 hours to do an oil change and an alignment check. Every time I looked into the garage all the techs were standing around talking and looking at their phone. I have previously paid for a suspension inspection which they found nothing but another location said I needed new shocks and tie rods. I have been a loyal customer for years but all their locations are going downhill very fast. I'm disputing charges for parts that this location pointed out were not installed. read more

This was my 1st time using Pep Boys, never been there before and Everyone was friendly but it blows my mind that Pep Boys has been around this long and they don't know how to do a brake flush on a Lexus. Took my GX460 in to get a brake fluid flush, waited 5 1/2 hour just for them to tell me they couldn't do it. They said that either my Master cylinder or ABS module wasn't working properly but come to find out they just don't know how to do a brake flush on a Lexus. Really Pep Boys? You've been around since 1923 and your employees can't do a brake fluid flush on a Lexus? People do it at home all the time but this company that specializes in automotive repairs can't work on a Lexus? Needless to say I'm not returning to Pep Boys, my first experience was awful. That just shows me that there's a lack of training for their employees so no telling where they're cutting corners. read more

Part 1 In I do not 100% recommend this place at all I will never do services again with them unless corporate contacts me and I get an apology from Anthony, I will only be back for my booster because it has a lifetime warranty on it. In September I had my booster change it has a lifetime warranty I had to go back three different times because the booster kept malfunctioning so within the months of September and November I was changing boosters in my car thank God I didn't get into a car accident because without a booster you cannot brake. in March I had my tire changed I bought the tires thinking they were brand new tires just FYI so that everybody knows in the world tires are supposed to have the same dates and years on them. I bought the tires and they kept deflating on me so from March till July I've been having to put air in my tires almost every day because I did not want to be a pain in the ass I thought it was something to my car was doing and I took it back in June and Pep Boys kept telling me that it was my rims it was my rims OK so I took it to another tire place to get a second opinion and they come and inform me that all my tires have different dates different years on them And just saw that everyone knows when you buy tires they're supposed to have the same date and the same year on all four tires. I had tires from 2014 on my car that I was supposedly buying brand new for 2021And of course they did not inform me they did not tell me that this is what was put on my car and part of the problem. I spent like 500 $600 on brand new tires so in June they replace my tires because I shared that information with them. And since I'm a woman I'm not a mechanic I'm stupid, so they were trying to take advantage of me on top of that from the beginning when I got the tires. And I took in my vehicle three days ago for a repair on my booster again there's a lifetime warranty on the booster but I should have not come to the shop three days ago it should've been like two years from now When I brought it in again, I told him the same thing that was happening in September is happening again same sound same movement same everything, I also told him because the mechanic that put the booster on my vehicle before informed me that it Has to be reset once the booster is put in the vehicle he showed me what tool they need to use to reset it because not a lot of mechanics will do it so when I brought the car in and they told me to go pick it up I asked them to make sure that the car was reset with the machine that I described on the phone again I'm a girl I don't know what things are called I know what they look like and how things should sound. On top of that I came into the shop with a quarter less from full of gas. I'll get to the gas in a sec, So I pick up the car yesterday and my car is shaking I said did they reset the vehicle because when the booster is pumping air and release gases into places so he told me to tell you guys which I already did to reset the vehicle they didn't know what I was talking about they pretended like they reset the vehicle I drove off and the car was shaking. Then on top of that before I left I said hey my gas looks a little low when I brought it it had this miles and when I left I had this miles so there was a 94 mile gap on my mileage and I left my car at the shop for three days. So I come in today I told him about the resetting I had to explain to them what it was and what it was going to do to the car and as soon as they did the reset the car stop shaking. So the manager his name is Anthony, no common sense a very rude and miss spoke and gentlemen, that has no idea how to treat a customer I hope he's not married, I have to talk to him about my gas now so he looks at the numbers and he realizes that there's a 94 mile gap the car was here for three days I live no more than 8 miles maybe 10 miles away from the shop and he's looking at me like I came to the shop and sucked the gas out of my car and then he wants to start giving me excuses so why there's no gas in the car there's a leak there is this there is that nope I put a full tank of gas in my car at last me a week and a day and a day. If you consider your time valuble, don't come here. I come here regularly for all of my car maintenance and there's usually no problem with me dropping my car off and getting it worked on the same day. This time, I came in last Friday for an oil change and I was going to wait for them to be done instead of coming back later. They told me it was going to be an hour and a half wait, which I didn't have time for, so they suggested I make an appointment. They scheduled my appointment for today at 5:00. I arrived right at 5:00. Its now 5:45 and my car hasn't moved. I walked up to the desk and asked the guy when they were planning on working on my car because I'd been here for 45 minutes. The guy at the desk said that my car is next and that he only has 2 guys right now. The guy at the desk told me to give him 30 minutes and he'll get it done. So now I will have been waiting just 15 minutes short of what they told me on Friday. Why give someone an appointment and make them wait pretty much the same time? I would have been fine coming on another day but now I'm stuck waiting after a long day at work, and they're using their lack of staffing as an excuse. I don't care how many guys you have right now. Don't over schedule your day if you don't have the staff. I would have waited for another day to ensure I could be in and out as quick as possible and to not overwhelm your staff. I can understand how stressful it is to work in an understaffed environment, but pissing off your customers can't help employee morale. Overworking your employees and not being respectful of your customers is a terrible business model. Ridiculous. read more

I went to this place to get an oil change. I had researched and found a $20 off coupon. When my car was finished the man stated my total was $61, which included the coupon. After questioning the total, it was instantly dropped to $34 with out any rebuttal or argument. He stated he didn't want to lose my business over price. Late 2019 my Ford Explorer had a chemical leak. I suspected Anti-freeze as the culprit. So my wife and I are commuting to work and stop by Pepboys for a diagnosis. I came into the store looking for help and even though someone was behind the counter they ignored me. But there was a reason for that. A male and female employee were busy exchanging barbs with one another. I would come to find out that tension among the employees here is pretty high, as needling each other seemed to be the norm. So I politely got their attention and they agreed to look at the vehicle. About an hour later they said I needed a new waterpump. 900+ dollars. My wife and I needed the vehicle that day to get to work (we worked at the same place during this time), so I agreed. A few hours later it was "fixed". The next morning we go to get into the car and notice the same leak from yesterday. We stop by Pepboys. They tell me "now" the thermostat needs replacing. It'll be several hundred dollars to fix. I'm skeptical, and even though the leak hasn't been fixed I take it to another mechanic for a second opinion. He finds the problem. A loose hose (brand new one installed 24 hours earlier) with a clamp that hadn't been tightened. The second mechanic diagnosed and fixed the problem for 50 bucks. NOW I can't be sure if the waterpump was ever the problem in the first place. If only I had checked Yelp before visiting, I would've known what to expect. The reason I waited so long to place the review, was because I wanted to see if the waterpump would last. Since it has so far I can include that as the only positive. I called at 4:30 and was told that my vehicle was next up and that it would be done within the hour. Arrived at 5:30 and was told that they didn't have time to get it done. I finally had a day off (Sunday) so I called the manager and asked if they could do my brakes. He said yes and said 10 a.m. was fine. I showed up on time and he started with excuses as to why he couldn't do the job. "I only have 2 technicians" "They both started jobs that will take at least an hour or more" blah blah blah. Excuses. I'm now going to find a place to do my brakes that I can trust not to lie to me before I even get there. Moved from California to Winterhaven. Car was leaking fluid they diagnosed it as needing a water pump replacement. Needed to get to work (my mechanic was closed) so did the repair. Got to work and the leaking was still there. Took it to my usual mechanic and he said the problem was a loose hose (which Pepboys didn't fix). He fixed the hose and just to learn a little more I took the vehicle back to them with the same complaint (knowing it had already been fixed). They said it needed an expensive thermostat. I took it back to my mechanic and he said "no", there is no problem with the thermostat. I'm writing this a year after this happened to let you know my mechanic fixed the actual problem. Pepboys ripped me off and didn't fix the problem and then "misdiagnosed" the problem a second time. They're either grifters or the dumbest mechanics in history. They tried to tell us we needed a new alternator for $700 as well as a new battery. We told them to replace the battery. We drove the car over to our regular repair shop and had them give us a second opinion on the alternator. The alternator did not need to be replaced. We saved $700 by going with our instincts and realizing something didn't sound right with Pep Boys. Beware of this place and stay away!! read more
