Stopped by Pepi's Pub and Grill recently for dinner and a drink and were pleased with the experience. It's an order at the bar set up. There's a designated area at the bar for orders, so you'll want to grab a menu (they have them in various spots at the bar and on each table), make your decision, and head to the order area at the bar. We started the evening with a couple whiskey old fashioned cocktails, which were made in the Wisconsin style and were good! For dinner, I got their Lucy's Favorite Salad with creamy italian dressing. The salad was a mix of iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, rye croutons, grilled chicken, tomatoes, and a sprinkling of an herb blend/seasoning. It was good! The service was above-and-beyond lovely. We were in an area of the bar where there weren't many people and they checked in on us multiple times. They have pool tables if you like to shoot pool while enjoying your cocktail and their space is large with plenty of seating. Get to it! read more

This is my favorite type of bar! The ambiance is amazing. Lots of seating and games to keep you busy. Staff was super friendly and food came out incredibly fast. Everyone's food was exceptional. I love Pepi's so much! It is like your favorite Milwaukee East Side North Avenue bar during it's hey day (2007-2012ish), but the food is way better. Tons of beer on tap and available by bottle/can. Happy hour specials from 2-6p everyday! Daily specials post-happy hour. Burger of the week is always something amazing, it was Ruben Burgers for St. Patrick's Day week and 100%!!! It is a family friendly establishment, with a patio, and spectacular lounge seating in front of a large screen tv located next to a wide variety of board/table games and huge size connect four to keep the kiddos busy. The also have several pin ball machines, a couple of pool tables, and booth, table, high top table, and bar seating. There are plentiful TVs all around the bar tuned into every possible sporting event that is broadcast in our region on tv/cable at the time. Super disappointed in service, food was right on point, ambiance was just as I had hoped for. The server that my family and I encountered with at the bar to order food/drinks as directed was extremely unfriendly, unpleasant and rude to say the least. I was taken back momentarily by her terrible service and almost asked her to cancel so we could go elsewhere. However, my kids seemed very comfortable getting acquainted with the arcades, the music was great and we were pretty hungry so I decided to stay. To mention a few disappointing things about our service, we weren't greeted properly, or at all matter of factly just asked what we wanted (just like that). I served myself our drinks as they were just sitting there for some time, when the appetizer was "slid" onto the table the forks were hidden under the napkins and no plates were given (ordered chicken Nachos). We weren't checked on the entire time, every encounter I had with the server was dreadful. I do know this isn't a full service restaurant, but it's customary to greet your customers and give common courtesy. Also to say "You're Welcome", perhaps even smile after someone Thanks you for something and not walk around with a miserable face/vibe at work. I'm a FIRM believer in liking the job you have. This woman was perhaps not having her best day, but I saw no interest or intention in her mannerisms changing or improving as a server. For that terrible experience with the service alone I will likely never return to dine there again. I'm appalled and disappointed really as my kids loved it and I can't say I've ever had such a terrible experience like this. I'm pretty understanding and easy going. I stopped in to grab a few drinks and some bites. The bar is on a corner that offers some street parking. The inside has a fairly large bar area , slots , a few pool tables, and retro games. They have a great selection of on tap beers. I sampled a seasonal sugar cookie lager. Very sweet and a few IPAs. I wasn't hungry so I just ordered Cajun waffle fries. I love that they offer sweet potato and wedge as well . I think I would return to check out the rest of the menu. read more

Eh. Every time I have gone here there is a bar tender who is rude and give my group dirty looks. She is super rude and ruins the mood. Luckily the other bartender ended up working with our group and save the experience. Some of my friends really enjoyed the food, such as the burgers and nachos.... But I get sick every time I eat here.. and I'm eating salads and grilled chicken not the fried food. Games are fun to play which is why we keep going back. read more

We ate lunch here today and both had the "Italian Traditional sandwich:" cappicola, Genoa salami, ham, provolone cheese, Giardiniera peppers, lettuce, tomato, red onion and dressing on (our choice) Italian bread. Really, really a good sandwich. (See the pic). The bartender was sweet and very nice to us; both answering questions and making us our favorite, custom ordered Bloody Marys, too. I stopped in Pepi's when I was downtown attending First Friday. This place is huge! I did not expect to walk in to such an expansive room. It's loud, colorful and has pool tables and video games. It felt like a chain restaurant which is fine if that's what you are looking for. Service was really good. My server was friendly and attentive. But the food was just ok. There were three of us. We all ordered something different and each of us were meh. We did not hate or love anything. Prices were reasonable so I would recommend families if you come early. As it got later, it became a loud bar with tipsy patrons. I eat out a lot and will probably try another place next time. Street parking is available. read more

We stopped here for dinner after a day at the beach. My husband read they had some pinball machines and we though it would be fun entertainment for the kids. The place was pretty empty since it was a Monday afternoon. The bartenders were very helpful and friendly. The food was good, especially considering the price. My husband and I both ordered a bambino. I enjoyed the steak more than the chicken, but that might just be personal preference. If this place wasn't in a kinda weird intersection, with shoddy parking in the outlying blocks, I'd live here. That pretty much ends my criticisms. Great bar. Tons of good taps, with a wide variety, and decent rotation. Great selection of bottles and cans - dude, they have old style! Lotsa cool craft and imports, but lotsa shitty hipster beers too. And I like both, so... The Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches are AWESOME!!! The local favorite is The Bambino, which involves bacon and some specific peppers, but I just go with a traditional dipped Chicago beef with giardinara and cheese. Either way, napkins are a must. They just added a dozen or so new burgers to the menu as well. The one with the rosemary panchetta is the biz!!! Pepi's is certainly worth a visit. Mind you, Racine doesn't have much. The signature Bambino Sandwich is not as good as the claims; waaay too dry and tasteless. Other menu items have to be better. Into Pinball? This is the place. Vintage machines that are very cool. Pepi's is big. A lot of room to prowl. And I especially like the windows. This place has a lot of glass and a lot of natural light. Feels good. Give Pepi's a try. Just stay away from The Bambino. read more

BAMBINO CRYING I was heading to Racine and did my research on Yelp about where would be a great place for lunch. I finally choose this place after looking at many restaurants in the area. I was really attracted to the 4 stars on Yelp and a twitter post from the bar that said all Taps were $3 on Mondays. I really thought this place was a slam dunk. Before I get all negative I want to point out the good things. The bartender was 5 stars. She never told me her name but I noticed Tina was printed on my receipt. She was incredibly sweet and understood customer service. I needed change for my meter and she gave me change with no questions asked. Most places never do that but considering they don't have a parking lot then I'm assuming it happens often. Meters are going to cost you 65 cents for 60 minutes. Who came up with this parking meter pricing? The 10 minute abs guy! I would highly recommend you pay for the parking on the Main Street because I could have parked for free a block away but my car told me it was a bad idea. I would have to agree with my car and the 1.08 cents a minute is totally worth it. Tina was so attentive and kept checking in on me. I know the restaurant was really empty but she was on the ball. Good service can be hard to find and she went above and beyond. She gave me water even though I didn't ask for it. She checked with me before taking my beer bottle away to make sure I was done. She did a great job. If I was just going to rate service then this review would be 5 stars. Thanks Tina for being a great bartender. We need to talk about the food. When I go out to eat I want something special. I can get an ordinary sandwich anywhere. I was drawn to the reviews about the signature sandwich here called "The Bambino". Many people raved that it was the best thing ever. It came with steak, grilled onions, bacon & hot bambino sauce. I asked the bartender about the sandwich and she informed me that it is the most ordered item on the menu. How could I go wrong? If the reviewers love it and everyone orders it then it's gotta be a winner. After ordering the sandwich it literally came to me in 2 minutes. I have to be honest this never makes a customer feel good. It feels like fast food without love. The first thing I noticed was that the sandwich was all bread. If you are going to serve a sandwich my advice is to make sure the filling actually fills the bread. It was a very sad looking sandwich. The sandwich had a lot of add ons with additional charges like cheese for $1, green peppers for $0.75, mushrooms for $0.75, giardinera for $1 or extra sauce for $0.75. Maybe I should have ordered all of that to fill out the bread but then it would have cost me an extra $4.25 on top of the $6.25 for the 9 inch sandwich. The steak wasn't even seasoned. The sandwich was incredibly bland and just not very good. I would never recommend this sandwich to anyone. The sandwich doesn't come with anything but a pickle spear which doesn't work with the sandwich at all. It is kind of thoughtlessly added to the dish. The best part was the sauce which is actually salsa. They call it sauce but it's salsa. I wish I had some chips on the side because I would be eating a bowl of this salsa. It was suppose to be hot but on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the hottest then this sauce was a 2 at most. The sandwich actually needed the salsa to give it some flavor. Without the salsa on there it would have been terrible. I will never be coming back here for food. The second reason I came was the twitter post on their Twitter account that pointed out that all tap beers would be $3 all day on Monday. I was so excited until I walked in an saw a red plastic police line across the taps saying "Danger". I could tell that the $3 taps were not happening today. I was informed that they are building a walk in cooler. I'm very happy for them but that doesn't fix my tap dilemma. I was really looking forward to some Left Handed Milk Stout on tap. The bartender did tell me I could get all craft bottles for $3 and all domestic bottles for $2. So at least they didn't leave me high and dry. Just some advice to the owners on social media. If you post it, then it must be real. You need to update the Twitter followers that this deal is no longer happening on Twitter. People read this stuff and we actually do show up because of the things you tweet. How is that for measuring your ROI? The bar is huge and that is what this place is. It's a bar that serves bar food which isn't really good food. They have specials all day which are written on the wall. There are pinball machine which are cool, a fooseball table, pool table, air hockey, gambling machines & the Big Buck Hunter game. It's a great place to hang out with friends and to grab a drink after work but it's not a destination to eat. Wow! Glad We Stopped. I took a motorcycle trip around Lake Michigan with my My fiancee and a buddy. Our First night we stayed at the Racine, WI at the Marriott. We rode down just taking a ride through out the town and we went by Pepi's and something made us turn around, and I think we were all glad we did. Atmosphere: -A Dark, Quiet, and Clean College Bar. With People of all ages, shapes and Sizes to fill it. Location: 10 minutes from the Racine, WI Marriott Food & Drinks: - Great Grilled Cheese. Awesome Cheese Curds, and Burgers. Had the Bambino...Awesome sandwich. Store owner Joe was very friendly. We talked about different micro brews on tap and which ones to try. Waitress was very friendly. She gave me a sample of Oso night train to try to make sure I liked it. I am glad there is finally a nice pub/grill that has an abundant selection of micro brews available.
