This one's a mixed bag--some highs, some serious lows. We walked in and the greater gave us a warm "sit wherever you want." Cool, right? Except... as soon as we sat, she asked us to move. Sooo, not anywhere we want . Awkward start. Our server was polite and genuinely apologetic when things dragged longer than expected. Points there. Now, the food: Beef stew - Ordered it thinking meal. What arrived looked more like a sample cup. For $13, I counted literally two bite-sized chunks of meat. Flavor? Awesome. Value? Yikes. Wish I'd snapped a pic because it was shockingly skimpy. Guinness fish fry - different story. Nice fillets, cooked almost to perfection, and the taste lived up to my expectations . This was the win of the night. The pub itself? Gorgeous. Love the Racine history around the place--it's why we've come back more than once. But man, that stew was a letdown, and overall we left feeling kind of... meh. read more

Aye, tis a classic Irish pub. If ye be wantin' more, well this be not the place for ye! Seriously, though. I stopped by as I was in town for a conference. It was mid-week and not very much going on. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew I was in the right place. It was going to be difficult not to come back again as this was the first night in town, and I had another dinner coming. Yes, it was that good right when I walked in the door. The atmosphere and décor was great. They had the big TVs with sports if that's your thing. They had a nice row of taps with some quality beer. I tried a few and enjoyed most of them. I sat at the bar, as there was just me. I was early, so there were few people in the place. Quick and quality service for me! I had some fish and chips followed up with a quality cheesecake. Good place. If you're in town and need your Irish food and pub fix, this is the place to go! read more

I enjoy coming here for occasional martinis with some friends. My favorites are the Dirty Martini (Extra Dirty) and the Naughty Girl Scout. Geeeeez these are not good names...haha The waiter was very friendly, funny, and attentive. The drinks are good, decor is nice and the customers were friendly. My husband and I are big supporters of local Racine businesses. We have visited Ivanhoe numerous time, also ordering fish fries to. During the beginning of the pandemic which is why the unfortunate experience leaves me baffled. This is a second time of a bad meal. I should have known better to order a Reuben a second time when the first time was unpleasant and to be returned. This time when the sandwich was served, and after taking a first bite I immediately could tell it was BURNT black. The burnt side of the sandwich was flipped so it wouldn't be seen initially by me or the server. Seriously?! I was starving, did mention it to the server but it was inedible and just ate the tots and pickle. To accommodate, the server deducted 15% which was very disappointing. I was saved a whopping $1.56. Sorry, Ivanhoe but I won't step a foot back here. Two stars only because the beer is great. read more

This is an Irish Pub, with an English name, and Scottish Kilts. Yet it all comes together harmoniously with a hipster vibe. I stopped in here recently, and really enjoyed my visit. It was an off-time and there was a small but friendly crowed. Doug (the owner) swooped in, chatted-it-up, bought the bar a round, then took off again. Thanks Doug! On to the food.... I had a 1/2 slab of ribs, with au gratin potatoes, a side salad, and cole slaw. The ribs were excellent! The meat was falling off the bones and slathered in delicious sauce. The au gratin potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. The side salad was very fresh. My one complaint: the side salad came on a tiny plate. This made it difficult to eat without making a mess. On second thought - maybe I'm just a slob. Needless to say this complaint won't impact my rating. Service was top notch. If you haven't tried Ivanhoe Pub and Eatery - YOU SHOULD!! WARNING THIS PLACE PAYS FOR GOOGLE REVIEWS!!!! This slop is what I recieved as shepards pie had one piece of meat in the whole dish. The website is completely wrong pricing is wrong and descriptions of food is wrong and the supposed General manager said it was my fault that their menu is not up to date and they were not going to fix my order... the second picture is their wonderful steak torneado the bread is supposedly a garlic pasty puff when it really is just their regular bread they serve with every meal. The supposed manager was extremely ride to me all because I had ONE other complaint like 5 months ago about a 5 dollar item. These two dyshes cost me almost 100 bucks with two average salads who wants to pay 100 bucks for this??? Ivanhoe Pub & Eatery really offers character and atmosphere! I stopped in one night and was really surprised at all the stuff to look at! The walls are covered. The room is large and dark, with a lot of bar seating and many tables. We ordered a few beers to start the night off. They arrived ice cold by a huge smiling guy in a kilt. Nothing better than a beer so cold it stings on that first long swallow with a bit of character. When we said we were only having drinks and no dinner he was totally cool with it. I felt bad because I know a lot of people were dining too. Although we did not partake in a meal, I watched the food being served to the tables near me. Everything was huge and looked delicious. I heard several people discussing how much they loved their food. I am going to return very soon the hang in this casual, kitchy place for dinner. I've been wanting to go here for some time and I finally made it and brought some friends!! We got seating right away and were asked immediately if we wanted something to drink. (off to a good start) As soon as our drinks came we got asked if we were ready to start with an appetizer; we were talking the whole time so we didn't have a chance to really look at the menu so our waitress suggested the Nachos or the Cheese Curds...and well...lets be honest who would say no to those!! Our appetizers came out and everything looked fantastic! I absolutely needed to try their Reuben and it was exactly what I was hoping for- Amazing; my friend tried the Black & Blue burger and had it topped with a fried egg--delicious! As bars go this place has everything- a great staff, a huge back bar, tons of taps & craft bottles. For a hangout? It's just never been my vibe. But it is a hell of a bar, just not my scene... That said: when it's restaurant time, this place really delivers. I've tried a good 2/3 of their menu, and all the apps, and never have I had a single bite of bad food! Never! Some highlights are the ahi tacos, the shrimp balsamic toast points, and the shepherds pie, but honestly everything is not just good, but between flavor and presentation, it's almost special. Speaking of special, the menu constantly rotates a bit, seasonally, as does the beer menu. What doesn't change is the secret "Ivanhoe Jamison sauce" - put it on anything !! My girlfriend suggested we visit this place for a bite to eat and a brew... I'm so glad we went!! I love Irish pubs, and this one definitely tickled my fancy! The only reason I'm not giving it the ultimate 5-star review is because of our waiter- he was close to the end of his shift and clearly ready to leave. By the end of our visit, he left and we got a happy helpful waitress. No excuse for the waiter, though. The beer list is great so I tried a couple different brews. I had the lambeau stew to start- it was sooo yummy!!!!!!!! Cheese soup with brats and veggies- helloo?! YUM!! Get it now!! I also ordered the chicken fingers, those were really good too. A bit heavy on the breading, but I appreciated they were made in house. The rest of the menu was great with a large variety too! Ivanhoe's atmosphere is really cool- it has that dark, aged Irish pub feel with a nice decor. I would absolutely come back, especially on a Friday night to check out the night scene. read more

Wanted to try a downtown restaurant with my wife. Ivanhoe sounded fun since we wanted to try something different. We went in for lunch at around 12:30 on a Wednesday, it was almost empty. The staff was very friendly though. The place was clean and the atmosphere was very cozy. I had a water and coffee and my wife ordered some kind of alcoholic coffee beverage that looked and tasted good. I ordered the bangers and mash and my wife had mahi tacos with no lettuce. The dishes came with soup. She had the Lambeau (beer cheese and brat) and I had the soup of the day which was turkey pot pie. The soups were fantastic, mine even came with homemade crackers. When the food came it was prepared well and looked appealing. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we will come back. read more

Hubby and I went to check it out and we were very disappointed. Took a while to get our beverages at the bar. There were 2 very obnoxious women at the bar and they were heard throughout the restaurant. We finally got our drinks and we asked for menus. We were never asked if we wished to order anything. The bartenders were both talking to the women and not catering to anyone else. We asked for our bill and were still never asked it we wanted any food or anything else. The 2 women made it impossible to even enjoy ourselves. There were only 6 of us in the bar. No control over patrons. You could tell we were all uncomfortable. read more

What a full Green Bay Packers experience I got, visiting here during a Packers game! My first choice of going to Yardarm was foiled since it was closed during the hours it was supposed to be open on a Sunday, so I suggested coming here instead and my family did. Holy crap though at the fact they literally give you free shots, during each time the Packers get a touchdown! My shock of getting the full Packers experience aside as a Bears fan(never mind I know how much they suck, and that they're very low on the Chicago sports totem pole), the staff and food here was great. I got a burger that was awesome, and their beer menu had enough microbrewed beer selections for my taste. So glad it wasn't dominated by macros. The rest of the food my family got was good, and our server was decent as well. I'd gladly recommend Ivanhoe if you visit Racine, even if you come from south of the border on a Sunday(or another day the Packers play) as a Bears fan, and feel the shock of the Packer experience(and even free shots, WOW!) during games here. Finally don't worry Bears fans, our server actually respected our decision to decline the later shots after the first time we all tried them out. Cheers to her for doing that. read more

I have not been to a bar and eatery in a long time that deserved a 10/10. Let's start with the service: Jerry is outstanding- Was funny, and engaging. He made great suggestions- payed attention to our needs. Started with the Lambeau stew - Smooth and rich cheese sauce- heaven in a bowl. Meatloaf was full of flavor and served on a delicious bed of mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The medallions of beef were seasoned perfectly and seared to perfection. It was July 4th and I found myself in Racine with no real plans. Not being interested in watching money burn (aka fireworks), I really wanted to find some good beer. I asked for suggestions at the front desk of the Marriott Racine where I was staying. They handed me a preprinted sheet of bars and restaurants, but specifically recommended the Ivanhoe. The Ivanhoe was close to the hotel and it promised a decent beer selection. Alas, no microbrews, but better than the average Wisconsin bar. It was pretty easy to find and there was a parking garage about a block away which only cost $1.50. So walking into Ivanhoe, we were immediately pleased with the atmosphere. There was lots of dark wood and the lighting was primarily coming from various antique lamps hanging from the ceiling. The music was not too loud, but still added to the experience. A bartender indicated that we could sit where ever we wanted, so we chose a table on what appeared to serve as a stage on different nights. Now we came to the crucial moment. What would they have to drink? On tap, I believe that had: Guinness, Boddingtons, Sam Adams, Smithwicks, New Castle, Blue Moon, something from Bell's, and Hacker Pschorr I started with a Smithwicks and my wife had the Bell's. The beers arrived promptly and were served at a good temperature. We were off to a good start. For an appetizer we had the seared peppered tuna. It was very tasty and cooked to perfection. That is in this case, not overcooked. It took us awhile to eat this and enjoy our beer. We told our server that we would be taking our time and enjoying ourselves and she had no problem with that. For the main course we went with the Triple P burger with Kobe Beef and an order of the lobster mac and cheese. My wife and I like to mix things up and share to get a wider experience. We were also ready to try more beer, so this round consisted of a Boddingtons and a Black&Blue. The food was delicious and everything was served with a smile. For dessert we went with the server's suggestion of a white chocolate raspberry truffle martini. I didn't pay attention to what their more traditional dessert offerings may have been, because I was in the mood for drinking. When she saw that I was going to share the drink with my wife she surprised us by bringing a little mini glass of the same drink! The evening ended with a little discussion of Irish whiskey. I admitted that I don't have any experience, but that I do drink Scotch occasionally. The Red Breast was suggested and served in a large snifter. I enjoyed the service and the whiskey. Overall I enjoyed my visit to Ivanhoe. The food, the drinks and the service were all excellent. I would definitely return if I found myself in Racine again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I would have liked to see some local microbrews on tap. That would have made Ivanhoe perfect. read more
