There are not a ton of dining options in this area, so when we were looking for dinner one night,…read morewe wound up at the Hardwick Street Cafe, which is a restaurant inside of like a small community/convention center type of venue. It's funny because when we arrived, the women at the front desk asked if we were trying to squeeze in dinner before the show, and we were like, "What show?" The food was good and the service was choppy. But I would come back and have another meal here. Everyone tried hard anyway. So we started by ordering a couple of drinks. I was surprised when I asked the young lady which of the two cider options she'd recommend and she said she wasn't allowed to serve alcohol and had to ask one of the older servers. Ah to be young :-) We ordered the cheese platter to start, which came out with four kinds of cheese, some lovely crispy flatbread kind of crackers. We order these types of things at restaurants a lot, and usually when the cheese platter comes to your table, the waiter or waitress tells you the different types of cheeses. That did not happen here so we asked - the young lady again did not know and said she would go ask someone. And then she basically just never came back with the information. We guessed there was a white cheddar, a gouda and a bleu cheese. Still don't know what the fourth one was. I got the cheeseburger, which was fine. And the potato wedge fries that I think I upgraded to were very good. My husband got the chicken and waffles special, which he said was OK. I got a piece of the special of the day chocolate chip cheesecake to go for dessert, and that was VERY good. So in all, decent and would come back. But the service was a bit lacking.

Great food. Great service. Great location. Great value. Tater tots were exquisite! The Jasper Hill…read moreman and cheese on a burger was unique... Possibly the best cheese burger ever!

We stayed here twice for three nights in a pricey cabin and neither time received any welcome…read moregreeting or any hint of hospitality. I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food. The cold lack of hospitality, the state of our cabin, and the at best mediocrity of our dining has led us to find another place to stay when we visit. We can do better and pay less.

Really great staff--responsive, friendly, patient, and down to earth. The food is locally sourced…read morefrom farmers as a bonus.

There were a handful of restaurants that were open but none appealed to us. Most seemed greasier than what we were in the mood for. Checked out their coop (grocery) but their cafe was closed. So bought some prepared foods at the coop and found Connie's across the street close to a cute little park. They are situated on a corner in a yellow painted Victorian close to a bridge. They have a few tables for indoor dining. I opted mine to go. Connie's is simple and wholesome basics done well. ++. Food is breakfast, lunch and baked treats. I tried their roast beef sandwich on their freshly baked wheat bread and some chips. Drink wise they have a few sodas and ice tea. +++ price is very reasonable. $8.88 for my sandwich and chips and rest of $10 into their tip jar. +++. Service was friendly and prompt. My sammie was made in 10 minutes while they had 2 other customers' orders. 2 ladies worked fast and my sammie was exactly as ordered :-) ++. Parking is street and free. They seem to have many locals.
