Stop. Remove all of your preconcieved and stereotypical beliefs about grilled cheese. Good. Now do…read moreeat at this place. It is sooooo good. We started with the soup flight. The tomato soup is excellent. The cheddar ale soup is unforgettable. I would gladly drive hours to have that ale soup again. I can't remember the soup of the day, but I'm sure it was good. The only complaint is the size of the three samples. Too small. I needed more of the ale soup. My daughter had the apple, fig, and brie sandwich (minus the arugula). I had a burger. The food was very very good. We opted for maple syrup (hey, it's VT) and it was the perfect foil to the more savory foods we were eating. Lots of booze options as well. You might inhale when you see the prices for "grilled cheese" but trust me, these are not your run of the mill toasty cheesy sandwiches. Our server, Amy, was fantastic. We loved talking with her and she made sure we had everything we need and had a great experience at the restaurant. Two thumbs way up.

Diane, John, and their crew of dedicated employees, opened this restaurant in the summer of 2020, in the middle of an international pandemic, and still managed to rise to the top as a fantastic, family-oriented, slow food restaurant in a small town with several well established restaurants as its base. Their idea was grounded in the "simple" grilled cheese sandwich, reimagined in some delightfully tasty presentations. The menu is modest and, other than seasonal specials, is steadfast in its design! I have eaten there more times than I can count and have YET to experience any deviation from the quality they presented at the outset! How many restaurants can attest to that, alone? The atmosphere is homey (it is a former home in a lovely neighborhood), the service is top-notch and the food is delicious. The management attends to every table at least once during your stay (so there was ample opportunity for this customer to express any concerns to the person in the best position to correct any issues), and the staff consists of community members who are our friends, neighbors, or children thereof. So special is this space, the youth servers appear every spring in their prom-best to have their pictures taken with Diane and John! How special is that???!!!! This is a team that places community at the center of their work: even facilitating massive community fundraising efforts post-flood, 2024 and 2025! If you live in this area, you already know what a gem this place is. If you are visiting, put a night out (or lunch) on your "must do" list while exploring Barre's rich granite industry history. If you haven't made Barre a stop on your journey, run, don't walk and see what the buzz is all about! See you at The Meltdown!

There is no doubt that this creamery makes some fantastic goat cheese…read more This is especially true due to there being very few goat cheese options in my city of Pittsburgh beyond the standard supermarket brand. This cheese doesn't taste like foodservice. It takes like genuinely delicious artisan cheese. As far as I know, this particular location on Yelp is not open to the public. Maybe it was at one point, but newer reviews point to it being closed now. So I probably wouldn't recommend making the drive here just for some free samples, especially considering the cheese isn't expensive anyway. I was able to acquire some from a local Aldi for just a few dollars ($3-4, I believe). I was quite blown away. The cheese is so creamy and all around perfect. No grittiness, perfectly pure flavor that truly makes it feel like an upscale experience. This particular cheese is a dip, but I ate it straight from the container because that's how good it is. Plus, it's also quite light! 45 calories for 2 tablespoons, and around 250 for the entire container! I will say, though, it's tough to get your hands on this product sometimes. All in all, I highly recommend giving the Vermont Creamery's cheeses a try. The goat cheese dip is fantastic, and I enjoyed it straight out of the container. I'm sure their other products are just as delicious, and they make for a great gift, appetizer, or snack.

I have been enamored with Vermont creamery since I worked at Whole Foods in New England, so this was at the top of my list to visit. What you're actually visiting is their corporate offices. Inside they look a little like a fancy, corporate barn. The staff is SO welcoming. When you get there, although you can't do a tour, you can taste your way thru their award winning cheeses. I forget the front desk woman's name but she was THE NICEST. Upon walking in, she asks if we want to try some cheese. Well, of course we did! She walks on back to the kitchen and a few minutes later emerges with something magnificent. A wooden cheese board in the shape of the state of Vermont featuring: - 3 kinds of goat cheese: pepper jelly, honey, and regular - cultured butter: yes, we ate this by the spoonful alone and have zero regrets. - creme fraiche with vanilla - their award winning Bonn bouche- an ash ripened goat cheese that is stinky and delish! All of this was on the house! Then you can purchase anything you'd like but at cost which is AMAZING! We brought home a ton of goat cheese from here and our friends and family were extremely pleased. Loved visiting Vermont Creamery

This trip, we enjoyed a milkshake, Skinny Fries (they were out of poutine), Noah's Ark, and Breakfast Monster. The house bbq sauce was chosen to accompany the fries: not my favorite bbq sauce; the fries were crispy and well salted. I hope to try the poutine on another visit. Noah's Ark was a nice blend of sweet and savory. The sausage was ok, but probably would try another meat choice next time. For pesto lovers, the Monster will really scratch that itch! Overall a good experience worth repeating. See you next time...

I haven't been to a Skinny Pancake since I received the devastating no-more-gluten-for-me news, so I was glad to see that they have a buckwheat crepe option for us gluten-free dweebs. I ordered the apple & brie crepe. I was informed that the hash purples go into a shared fryer, so they're not totally gluten-free. I accepted my future stomachache & ordered them anyways, because they've always been my favorite item on the menu. Service was friendly & prompt. Find a table, order at the counter, & they'll bring your food to you. The hash purples were totally delightful, as expected. 5 star color, too. The crepe was unfortunately very underwhelming. It was super thick & the texture was kinda ominous. I didn't end up finishing it. They might just need to tweak their gluten-free batter slightly to get the balance right. I believe in them (: Overall a fun lunch spot in the marvelous capital of Vermont.
