It works like a major mexican fastfood where you order either beef, pork, chicken, shrimp or sausage then you pick what will go on top of the rice (sample on the pic). The beef was a bit salty for me, but my husband's sausage was "saltier" and he liked his. The chicken wasn't too salty. Didn't try the sub but it think the rice bowls were properly priced. They probably use the same meat there anyway. And oh, you can also request for sauce on the side esp if it's hot/spicy. read more

I like PepperJax a lot. Good food. But the negatives outweigh the positives. First of all, this has to be one of the most expensive places to get a sandwich. I went there with my wife and was down most $40 by the time was all said and done. They ask for a tip at the end...for making a sandwich? I know it is just a courtesy, but for the price you pay, I would think that they should be paying their employees enough to not be required to ask for a tip. We arrived on a Friday shortly after they opened. Most places clean their store before they close, and if it isn't spic and span, they stay late to ensure things look good for the morning crew. The place doesn't open till 11AM, so if the place IS dirty, you have time in the morning to go and make things look good for the next day. That's why it is gross to come into the place first thing after opening and seeing everything is dirty. Sticky floors. Dirty tables. Prep area is filthy. The glass has grease dropped down on it. I asked the guy behind the counter if he was a manager and he said "yes", and the. I asked him if they ever clean the place. His answer was that those were morning duties that they haven't gotten around to. Really? If it looks that bad first thing in the morning, then how does it look behind the scenes where you can't see them prep all the food for the day? For the money we pay, they should have dedicated cleaning crews making the entire joint shine every night and morning. Overpriced, dirty, but decent food. Be better Pepperjax!! read more

My family and I visited Pepperjax grill for lunch. My wife ordered the hot sausage burrito, one of my sons ordered shrimp salad, the other son ordered a chicken bowl and I ordered the steak burrito fireball. One thing I noticed was the people working the grill didn't clean the grill top after the orders before us and after our order. There was a noticeable coating of charred food remains on the grill especially the section at the end where they chopped up the protein before they took it off the grill. It was very unappetizing. The guy prepping the food and working the cash register was friendly. The dining area was somewhat clean. The condiment containers were sticky and disgusting. We needed to use napkins to hold the bottles of ketchup and sauce to avoid the stickiness of them. Overall we probably will not return. read more

The fries had Maybe 8 small, cold, greasy pieces in it, the Double Meat bowl was only 1/2 full & I had to put cheese on it because there was none. How in the hell do you forget cheese in a Philly Steak bowl ? My bf said that his Philly Double Steak (which again had the same amount of meat my bowl had) had no seasoning on it & maybe two slices of cheese. For $28, I would have expected the quality & quantity to be up to par, especially if you are known for your Philly's. I can go to Barrett's & get a huge well seasoned Philly cheese steak & Philly cheese steak bowl with an overly generous amount of fries for less than this. Gave me a steak salad. Told them I ordered a grilled chicken salad. They said they would make another. Went to find a seat. Person brought it to me and literally threw it on the table without a word. Nine months later we decided to give them a shot and glad we did. I have to digress for a minute.....about 9 months ago I made it as far as the parking lot but changed my mind at the last minute. Pepperjax is one of our favorite places to go to for a fast filling lunch. I almost always go for a steak philly or a steak rice bowl. I usually go for the steak philly, with mushrooms and jalapeno's ask for it fire-ball for an added kick. I always get mushroom gravy to pour on top of it. Was very disappointed when I went to eat my food at home- there was a stripe of sour cream on my food when I did not order sour cream (I hate all creamy condiments) PLUS I ordered extra vegetables, and they put a wimpy handful of lettuce and tomato and maybe like three green peppers/onions. Pepperjax is always good. The meat and seasoning is just right. Bread makes a sandwich and the bread is perfect. And check out the clever machine that toasts the bread and slides it to the right place for the cook. The rice bowls and salads are a good diversification from the signature sandwich. I'm always surprised at the volume of those items. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that the prices are a little high and it can be noisy with the kitchen out front and the metal ceiling. People love this place. And so do I. The remodeling of about a year ago was needed and the premises are much more attractive. The new CEO of McDonald's should make Gary Rohwer a big offer and roll Pepperjax out nationally post haste. Nothing more needs to be said there. The food was fine, standard for Pepperjax. The soda and sauce station were a mess and sticky. No empty tables were wiped down, I had to clean ours. And the dining area floor was sticky. Everywhere. I did fill out the feedback on the website with no response (I requested someone contact me). I will not be returning, ever and do not recommend it to anyone except a health inspector looking to write some violations. read more

I have never eaten at a PepperJax before but decided to stop in while I was in town. WOW, what a great place. The help behind the counter engaged me immediately and made me feel comfortable. All of the great staff is obviously trained well. The manager Steven was right up there and said, "you have never eaten here before? Get ready to come back again tomorrow." I've had Philly cheesesteaks sandwiches all over the country including Pat's In Philadelphia and across the street at Geno's. Pepperjax'x secret is the spice mixture. I'm not sure what's in it but I'm sure it's not too healthy but........ it is good and makes you want it more. The portions are large and you definitely get your moneys worth. Compared to Pat's and Geno's the meat is about the same but you get more, the cheese is good but no whiz, which isn't good for you anyway but Pepperjaxs spice is the key to getting that extra salty savory craving that cheez whiz creates. Have a Ritz with Whiz and you want another, right? Pepperjax's could go a little heavier on the onions, mushrooms or peppers but overall it is on par with the best so I definitely recommend and crave these sandwiches. read more

Hi. I ordered an online order to pick up through this Pepperjax for my family and me. I won't get too picky with this next part, but it was raining buckets that day and the roof was clearly leaking inside the restaurant. It really affected the operations for that night, which I know the manager and workers were well aware of. The fact the roof was leaking didn't really bother me, but rather it was how the operations were handled that night. I was told since I had an online order that I would get my order completely refunded since the restaurant was seemingly trying to take care of all its customers and then the roof situation. This wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the fact that people walking in the door to order at the restaurant, even people in line after me, were getting their orders filled. I really didn't see why they couldn't have filled my order anyway on the spot right there in the restaurant, because it seemed like all the people who ordered online that night for pickup got screwed. If this restaurant really wanted to minimize the number of orders it had to deal with because of the leaky roof situation, I don't see why it didn't just close down for the night and refund everyone's orders to deal with the roof firsthand. Anyway, I was told by the manager that my order would be refunded immediately within 48 hours of my order. However, this has not happened, and my account shows that I have still been charged for my online order that night. I would very much like to be refunded my money back as soon as possible. If not, I may not come back to this restaurant despite it previously being one of my favorite places to go to. read more
