My new favorite place in Dundee. Found this place a few weeks ago and it is now my go to when I want to have an after work drink and dinner to go. While the general seating area is large I prefer the bar area to catch a sports game and wind down with a drink, or two. The bar has a feel of late 70's, they are geared up to make all of your favorite drinks as well as a selection of beer on tap. Wait staff is super nice, bartender is so friendly, a few regulars at the bar are up for good conversation too. The menu selections are vast, I've had something different each visit. Plenty of sandwiches, burgers and salad. A lot of their sauces are made in-house, such as their thousand island used on the Ruben. One of my favorite sides are the potato wedges, plenty of them and they are cooked and seasoned perfectly. I get to go orders often, never been disappointed. Make sure to grab one of their made in-house deserts, they are all amazing as well. Parking is in back, come in through the back door. Kitchen does not close early, they serve food up until closing time. It's never been too crowded, always find a seat or two at the bar. With a lot of higher priced restaurants in Dundee, I appreciate that we have Goldberg's in the neighborhood. It's a good spot for your good ol' fashioned bar food at reasonable prices with a casual atmosphere. There are a lot of booths that feel very private and tables sprinkled throughout along with some bar seating. There is outdoor seating as well although it's right on Dodge Street. Their menu is full of salad, burger and sandwich options with a few odds and ends thrown in. I've had many of the sandwiches and am always pleased with the portion and the flavor. All of the burgers and sandwiches come with kettle chips although they do offer a large variety of sides available at an upcharge. I always opt for the potato salad. We usually skip the apps as the mozz sticks seem to be just a basic frozen product and tortilla chips that can sometimes be stale. Servers have been efficient, never overly friendly but they get the job done. Now that I'm writing this, I'm leaning more towards 3.5 stars but it's a good spot for a quick, decent bite and some beer. read more

Our lunch today was just what we all needed after a cold morning outside for a Veterans Day parade. The lasagna soup was wonderful and so was the spinach artichoke dip and flour chips. The drinks were just ok, so next time would probably just skip those and focus on the food. read more

Was looking forward to the french dip I'd had in the past. They weren't busy at all on this Tuesday evening. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup as my side. The soup was okay...not memorable but the french dip was not good at all. The beef tasted spoiled and the au jus that came with it was so diluted it looked more like water and had an off taste. My dining partner ordered a burger. She is not very picky but said it just didn't taste right. We both only took 2 bites of our meal. Waitress came by and asked if we were finished. Didn't ask us how it was and was seemingly oblivious to the fact our plates were barely touched as she picked them up. Doubtful I'll give this another try. Ended up going elsewhere for dinner after we left. Bummer. read more

This is a favorite lunch spot. A great place to meet for wonderful food, share a chocolate malt and have space for great conversation. The menu has so many choices- I favor the burgers and soups, but there is something for every taste bud. Quality is high and prices are reasonable. Park in back for a private lot or right in front, if one of the spots is open. Certainly an Omaha gem, add Goldberg's to your list if you haven't tried it. read more

Very Disappointing! My wife ordered their 1/2 Avocado Turkey bacon sandwich & salad. It came to the table without Avocado?! We ask our waitress, and she nicely said, she'd bring some. What came was a dark/black, over ripe avacado pieces in a small cup. Thinking, it was just surface browning, I tried a small piece, (soft & nasty). I showed it to our waitress and another waitress, who bussed plates. I told both of them; I see why the kitchen didn't put it on the sandwich, I wouldn't have put it on either.; And, If they don't have avocado; this sandwich should be taken off the menu. Both waitresses, said; I'll tell them. I wasn't' expecting a lot a lot, but more than just lip service. The bill was brought to the table without any adjustments? I didn't stiff the waitress and left the usual ~20% tip; although, maybe I shouldn't have? Because, yes it was a kitchen/establishment issue, the waitress, didn't advocate or make adjustments. For my meal; I had a Reuben, with potato wedges. The potato wedges were hot and crispy, and the Reuben was Ok (nothing to write home about, just okay), The atmosphere is nice, but I doubt If we'll try them a second time. Looking for a close and cozy place to meet a former co-worker for lunch. Our party of six found a table perfect for our needs and were served right away. So many good choices on the menu! Though they are known for their burgers, I opted for a Montana Reuben (w/ turkey instead of corned beef) and a side salad for an extra $3 instead of the kettle chips they normally come with. All dressings are house made and my favorite is the balsamic vinaigrette. Interesting to note that they also sell 16 oz. bottles - I will remember for future reference! The sandwich was delicious and used coleslaw instead of the traditional sauerkraut. I really liked it and the grilled marble bread was fresh. Our waitress was pleasant and easily able to accommodate six separate tickets. The restaurant was decorated real pretty for the holiday season. With their extensive menu, you truly have more than enough options to choose from! I went for the Reuben sandwich: corned beef, Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing, and sauerkraut on grilled rye bread ($9.25). Sandwiches come with kettle chips and a pickle spear, but I opted for onion rings as my side for an extra $1.95. Let me tell ya, those were some of the best dang onion rings I've ever had. With daily specials and bread pudding (& those onion rings) I assure you I will be back to try more! Came here for the burgers and sadly, it wasn't what we expected. The burgers are served with kettle chips. You'll need to pay 2.50 for fries or another side. My son ordered the open faced burger. The chili, cheese and chips all tasted like they were bought at convenience store. Nothing tasted homemade. The price was also way too high for the value of the food. The service was good. I asked a born and raised Omahan what spot I should take my family for dinner. I filtered my frequent by saying it needed to be classic Omaha and not too expensive, but not too cheap. Without hesitation he replied with Goldbergs in Dundee. Later on I spoke to another Nebraskan who said she used to stop here every time they drove in from Norfolk. It was a must. It is without a doubt a classic burger joint, not wowing anyone with its ambience. In fact, I saw a spider in the bathroom but felt it added to the vibe. Burgers were delicious and reasonably priced. Goldberg is one of my favorite places to go when I am in Omaha for the holidays . I love the vibe and the food. I am easy going and a no fuss guy however not being acknowledged nor greeted by a server is unacceptable. I sat for ten minutes. At 8:20pm I left . If the kitchen is closed .. then tell people ... if the establishment decides to close early ... tell people Most will understand. A disregard for a customer will be remembered. read more

After a few years living near Goldbergs, we finally made it over to check out the little establishment! Their service was attentive and eager to help, they were very slow at 4:30pm on a Saturday. Plenty of room to spread out, waitresses all wore masks and there was hand sanitizer right inside the door. We were delighted to find a very family friendly atmosphere. They have slings and high chairs for babies / car seats. We ordered a bbq brisket sandwich, with coleslaw and a turkey avocado and bacon sandwich with kettle chips. Our food was prepared pretty quickly and everything was great. The coleslaw itself was a little lackluster but it was a big hit with our toddler in tow. Both of the sandwiches were perfect portions and we were happy with the taste and presentation. Sue and I went here on our usual Friday outing. Site of our first date, 25 years ago so it's kinda special. Sue ordered a regular Cheeseburger, which she said was delicious and cooked as she wanted it. I wanted to try the Nachos. Came with a tube of sour cream, salsa, jalapenos and beef on chips. Well, store-bought, bagged, round chips. Didn't care for that at all. A little more effort could have been made by, at least, buying some tortilla chips, that are made for nachos. Another classic omaha spot, often over-looked on the list of best burgers in town. Goldbergs has a lot more than just burgers and always have a good special like a steak or chicken or pasta. Always good service and a full bar, since the beginning always good bartenders. Burgers are what made this place. Burger with mushrooms and onions, on a regular bun or pretzel bun with fresh cole slaw or fries, BLT with lots of bacon on toast, and an appetizer of lavosh with chicken & avocados. That was the star of the show. All was served hot, fresh & tasty. A couple of cocktails and bill of around $40. Plus a good tip for the server for good service. Great deal in Dundee. An Omaha classic that never disappoints. Cocktails are generous in size and excellent quality priced well below what other restaurants charge. Specials are always a nice addition to the regular menu. We enjoyed our meal at Goldbergs on a late Saturday evening. We got there around 9 PM and found a spot outside. It was kind of fun sitting out on Dodge Street and watching the traffic go by, although it was pretty noisy. My husband ordered a burger and I settled on the grilled cheese. Both were really tasty and satisfying. I enjoyed the addition of spinach, tomato and red onion to mine. I would say the portion sizes were also very appropriate. Sometimes when you go to burger places the portions are just way too large, but this was perfect. I do you have to gripe about the fact that I ordered a side salad and there was a decent amount of wilted and slimy lettuce in there. I have absolutely no tolerance for that as it is very easy to spot and pick out. Other than that, our service was good and for our two entrées and a couple of drinks our bill was $32. Goldberg's in Dundee used to be our go to place for a burger. They always had a good selection of different burgers and my wife loves the Bloody Mary. Our go to app has always been the potato wedges, which are still great. But unfortunately their meals have slipped in my opinion. Burgers lack the flavor they used to have and the meat seems dry, no juice to them. Last month I tried the pork tenderloin, little flavor and small in size, no bigger than the hamburger. The Bloody Mary has been inconsistent in taste. They do have a stellar bar with great selection of drinks. Their beer selection is small, few local brew selections. We had been going there over the last 30 plus years and has declined unfortunately. read more

While eating my cheeseburger (which I have always liked here), it occurred to me is that the Big Bronco is actually better and surely a better value. That should not be the case. Now I was in Dundee and I had just come from Film Streams, but the geography is not worth that much. The really distressing thing to me was paying $2.50 for a tiny portion of quite average cole slaw. I've always loved Goldbergs but having moved away from Omaha several years ago I kind of forgot about it until I drove past today. I stopped in for lunch and had s great experience. My server Vanessa was great and attentive. I was on a lunch break so I was in a bit of a rush but the service and food were great. I'd recommend their chili or soup to start your meal. Today I had the buffalo grilled Chicken sandwich in a pretzel bun. It was excellent as was the jambalaya. They have two locations in Omaha but this one is always my favorite. read more

Met friends at Goldbergs today. It's been years since I had visited Goldbergs. While I really wanted one of their delicious hamburgers I decided to have their blue cheese and walnut salad with grilled chicken. I absolutely enjoyed my salad as they sprinkled a good amount of blue cheese. Chicken was grilled and was flavorful. While it was not one of their hamburgers it was still very tasty. Our waitress was nice and ensured we were taken care of. Nice place should go more often. read more

This was our second visit and it was as enjoyable as our first. My wife had their Grilled Chicken Club sandwich with a side of Onion Rings. The sandwich consisted of boneless breast of chicken served on grilled marble bread with bacon, lettuce, tomato and american cheese. I had their Philly sandwich with a side of Onion Rings. The Philly was made with tender strips of beef with grilled onions, green peppers and swiss cheese served on a grilled hoagie bun. I added fresh sauteed mushrooms to it. Both sandwiches were delicious and the rings were crisp and not greasy. The combination of efficient and friendly service, a nice atmosphere and good food, just makes this a nice place to eat. read more

There's a reason that you have to wait for a table on weekend nights at Goldbergs. When those of us that live in the area want a burger, that's where we go. In fact, I can't think of anywhere else in town I'd rather go in town for a burger. Start off with some potato wedges or Sweet Potato Fries, and make sure to get extra sides of their homemade ranch. You'll want to bathe in the stuff. I'm fairly certain that I can't get enough of their Wild Ranch chicken, burger and wedges. As another review posted, it almost should be illegal it's so good. Of course, all the other burgers are good (Black & Blue, Cesar, etc) but Wild Ranch is as close to perfection as it gets for me, so it's hard to deviate. Oh, and beware the mushrooms - they come from a can (icky.) In all the years I've been going to Goldbergs, I've never had dessert there. Probably because by that time I'm almost ready to float away in a ranch-induced coma. So save room for another Guiness instead. :) If you don't want to hassle with parking and waiting for seating, go on a week night. Lunches can be equally as busy as weekends sometimes. Parking behind the restaurant. There is some outdoor seating, but it's not accomidating enough for a large group (6+), and the only other time we sat outside it was raining buckets so we relocated. Goldbergs has always been one of my favorite, go-to restaurants for a casual dinner or drinks with friends. We recently went here for a friend's birthday party. The staff was very accommodating of our large group and happily pushed together several tables for us, split checks, and even stayed pleasant when we lingered a few minutes after closing. To start with I ordered a Ranger to drink. The have a great selection of beers and mixed drinks. The prices aren't low, but they are comparable to similar restaurants in Omaha. I usually order one of their burgers because they are consistently good. I have tried their Western Burger and Caesar Burger in the past and really enjoyed both. On this visit I tried the Blackstone Burger which is topped with swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. I ordered it on a pretzel bun (because pretzel buns are delicious), but you can also get it on grilled rye bread. For my side I ordered the sweet potato fries with Goldberg's dip because this combination is amazing and ruins all other sweet potato fries for me. This burger was incredible and a great and different flavor combination. If you are looking for someplace in the Dundee area to get a casual meal or drink, Goldbergs is a great option. Goldbergs is one of my favorites for some really good notch above pub grub. The menu is small but covers most of the bases. The burgers are a great! Tender and a flavor grind that whatever they do for the blend is just perfect. Nachos are really good and the meat has some great taco spices to it. The wife loves the fish and chips. All around great place to stop and grab a bite for a mid range price. I always wonder why I dont stop by more every time I go in. Also some of the waitresses have been there for over 8+ years. Not bad! We ordered a round of burgers and a few beers put on the patio a few weeks ago. Everything came out fine, is priced well and delivered. The brownie sundae was the highlight - I had heard rave reviews from a coworker and had to give it a try. Living in Dundee, I'm often referred to Goldbergs as a dinner spot. This weekend we took the plunge and stopped in for a "quick" lunch (we were there almost two hours). I think people go here to eat just because of the name and not for quality. Our nachos were clearly microwaved and only the top 6 chips had any toppings whilst the broken chips below lacked anything. After mentioning to the server, she took the nachos and replaced them. Both dishes were served with sour cream in packets which is unappealing.. My turkey avocado sandwich may as well have dropped the avocado from the name because there was practically none on there. The kids tenders came with a fruit side which was canned fruit cocktail lacking any color. The brisket sandwich was good and the pretzel bun was surprisingly a hit. All in all I will not return. Places like these don't deserve patronage just because your family ate there your whole life.. let them die out with the other old, tasteless restaurants and bring in the new fare that's been enjoyed by locals. read more

I always get seated WAY too close to the bathroom. I can literally taste other people's POOP in my mouth! How many times does a person need to ask for extra ice in their water?! The Omaha Chamber of Commerce continues to ignore my calls about the matter. You know they don't treat public officials with the earned respect they deserve either. I'm tired of getting scoffs from people when I order a mint Julip around derby season. I'll drive out to Bakers out west (don't even get me started on midtown poorville Bakers) or Whole Foods and buy the mint myself. Step it up Goldbergs, you used to be quaint. EDIT: I'm a Dundee native, don't insult my intelligence by lumping me with those cookie cutter hicks out in west Omaha. It's this place that doesn't cut the mustard. When I'm glancing through Yelp to see the latest and greatest reviews, there are very few instances where I feel that the overall rating that a particular establishment has achieved is greater than what it actually deserves. In those cases, like Goldbergs II, I feel obligated to inject a small dose of reality. Goldbergs II has a reputation in certain circles that it's a cool place to hang out and eat dinner or grab a drink. Consequently, people who want to seem cool will write a favorable review of such a place to give you the impression that they are also cool and fun to be around. I would say that the rating of Goldbergs II is inflated for this reason. The food is typical bar fare, so I'm not sure why others want to make it seem like Wolfgang Puck is hiding in the kitchen flipping burgers. I don't care how stellar your pub food is when the service is as routinely awful as it has been each time I've visited. I've never eaten any other place where I feel as if the staff resents the fact that I am there. Occasional spotty service on a busy night is completely understandable, but the consistent indifference that must be some sort of job requirement to work here is one of the biggest reasons for a 2-star rating. Spare yourself the agony. You shouldn't have to pay someone to treat you this poorly. read more
