Cruising chicken salad
Sheri M.

This is a favorite lunch spot. A great place to meet for wonderful food, share a chocolate malt and have space for great conversation. The menu has so many choices- I favor the burgers and soups, but there is something for every taste bud. Quality is high and prices are reasonable. Park in back for a private lot or right in front, if one of the spots is open. Certainly an Omaha gem, add Goldberg's to your list if you haven't tried it.

View from our seat outside. We got a kick out of this truck with a large minion character holding American flag.

We enjoyed our meal at Goldbergs on a late Saturday evening. We got there around 9 PM and found a spot outside. It was kind of fun sitting out on Dodge Street and watching the traffic go by, although it was pretty noisy. My husband ordered a burger and I settled on the grilled cheese. Both were really tasty and satisfying. I enjoyed the addition of spinach, tomato and red onion to mine. I would say the portion sizes were also very appropriate. Sometimes when you go to burger places the portions are just way too large, but this was perfect. I do you have to gripe about the fact that I ordered a side salad and there was a decent amount of wilted and slimy lettuce in there. I have absolutely no tolerance for that as it is very easy to spot and pick out. Other than that, our service was good and for our two entrées and a couple of drinks our bill was $32. What a deal!

While eating my cheeseburger (which I have always liked here), it occurred to me is that the Big Bronco is actually better and surely a better value. That should not be the case. Now I was in Dundee and I had just come from Film Streams, but the geography is not worth that much. The really distressing thing to me was paying $2.50 for a tiny portion of quite average cole slaw. I detect this trend as a new revenue enhancer. The Bass Ale on tap nearly made up for the above, but not quite.

I've always loved Goldbergs but having moved away from Omaha several years ago I kind of forgot about it until I drove past today. I stopped in for lunch and had s great experience. My server Vanessa was great and attentive. I was on a lunch break so I was in a bit of a rush but the service and food were great. I'd recommend their chili or soup to start your meal. Today I had the buffalo grilled Chicken sandwich in a pretzel bun. It was excellent as was the jambalaya. They have two locations in Omaha but this one is always my favorite.

20 ounce Bloody Mary with celery, lime, olive and a salted rim. A bit spicier than I love but remedied with a small glass of tomato juice.

The sun was shining, which, with all the windows, tables, and couches, is a total vibe. I was the first guest of the day and was greeted by a few folks, very welcoming. My guest and I had to co work a little bit before lunch. The server was really gracious and didn't hurry us along. I tried the blackened chicken sando, and it was fantastic! A great chicken to bread ration with a tasty slaw on top. I opted for the side apple salad, and it was truly a perfect mix of greens and protein and carbs, my macros were on point. Overall, a great service with great food. We'll definitely be back.

Once inside, I was in awe of how beautiful decorated and fun it is! I loved the streamers for Mardi Gras, a fun homage to Herbe Sainte's Cajun roots! The ambiance was so classy and bright, with gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. I ended up ordering the Cajun Style Mac & Cheese, which was great! It was the perfect serving size and not too spicy, while still having great flavor. Our server was very attentive and the food was super speedy! I would love to come back here again for brunch sometime, and was overall left impressed.

Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

We started with the biscuits, which came out hot and fresh. These were so delicious and buttery, and the peach and blueberry jam took them to the next level. Ok the other hand, the service is rather iffy & unpredictable. The chicken & waffles is my go-to for each visit, and they have many types of delicious sides to choose from, with my favorites being the biscuits & berries, goat cheese grits, and also the fried green tomatoes. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. I do want to like this place, and I do to an extent but again the service is always unpredictable. I'd still say the food is worth coming here to see how it goes.
