We came for lunch and had a decent time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating and room for large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were friendly and helpful. The meal did take a little bit longer to arrive. I was a little disappointed my meal sized salad was the same size as the side salad, and it may have been smaller than that. There wasn't that much lettuce and the brisket wasn't especially warm. I did like that it came with extra dressing though, and the bbq sauces that come on the table were tasty. Our group grabbed lunch here one day, and I never been here before. I ordered the lunch brisket with mac & cheese. The portions were great for a lunch meal and reasonably priced I feel like. My brisket was tender, and the mac & cheese was cheesy and creamy. I loved their honey cornbread muffin too. The sauces were ok, but I have others that I prefer honestly. Our server was nice, but not too attentive. She grabbed her drinks and then waited a few minutes and grabbed our orders. I got the three meat meal and an iced tea. The chicken fingers were OK, the burn ends were good, but they almost seemed fake because they were perfectly square. Are these processed burnt ends? And also my St. Louis spareribs were fair at best. Why does every barbecue place I ever go to always give me the end of the rack? The dry hard end of the rack? Same thing here. Disappointing and hard meat ... literally hard to eat as well as the service below par. I don't understand how a place with "Bar-B-Que" in the name can serve food this aggressively bland. Famous Dave's didn't just disappoint me--it insulted me. The chicken was a dry, lifeless slab that tasted like it had been waved near a grill and then personally offended by seasoning. No smoke. No spice. No flavor. Just sadness. I've had more exciting meals from airport vending machines. I brought my grandma here expecting real barbecue, and instead we were served something so empty and soulless it nearly ended her faith in restaurants altogether. She stared at that chicken like it had betrayed her. I don't blame her. That plate was a crime against poultry. The sauces couldn't save it. Drowning bad food in sauce doesn't make it good--it just makes it wet and bad. If this is what Famous Dave's thinks barbecue is, then the bar is buried six feet underground. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. If you want flavor, warmth, or even basic effort, look literally anywhere else. I went here for the "Feast for Two" Tuesday special. I found out that it has been discontinued. They do still offer a military discount. I was very disappointed in the beef brisket. We usually come during the middle of the afternoon on a Thursday and the service is always just wonderful. They have specials during the week which really are a good deal, but we usually get the 1 meat lunch meal of burnt ends. (You can also get 2 meats or 3 meats for a little bit more, from the ones they offer on the lunch menu) I love that the lunch menu doesn't end at 1pm like a lot of places do, but that it extends into the afternoon! We have never had a bad meal. And even though this is a chain restaurant, I don't mind that because I love the way they smoke their meats. I also like that you can pick from a wonderful selection of Famous Dave's bbq sauces, and add just the right amount that you like. read more

Famous Dave's? Famous Disaster. After noticing a promotional offer online for new Loyalty Rewards members, I decided to proceed with picking up dinner for the evening. The promotional states: "Free burger or sandwich with any purchase. Must present offer to server or cashier or redeem at checkout online." Therefore, I logged into my account via the app to begin placing my order. After 20+ minutes of relentlessly trying to redeem the offer online with constant error messages, it became evident that it wasn't going to happen. I then attempted to contact the Famous Dave's 1-800 number and requested loyalty rewards support. I was then informed that they couldn't assist as they don't oversee the rewards program anymore. I then decided to contact the store location directly at this point. After explaining my issue to 2-3 different people on the phone, they were beyond confused. Finally, I ended up just driving over to the location to get things sorted out. I then began placing my order at the take-out/order pickup window inside. The order consisted of a pulled pork sandwich (my purchase) and a cheeseburger (free from the promotion.) After presenting the code to the cashier, she had issues inputting the code into the system. In the end, she said that she would ring the items up on a ticket and take off the price for the burger, given that the code was having issues. I then was instructed to wait outside in my vehicle in one of the curbside stalls. Approximately 2 minutes later, a gal brought out a bag of food, told me to have a good evening, and went back inside. I was only given the pulled pork sandwich. I was left confused as I had never paid for the meal and still hadn't received the free burger from the promotion. At this point, I should have just taken the free food and left due to the nightmare experience. However, I don't condone getting items for free that were not intended to be. I then walked right back inside to inform the cashier/bartender of the issue. She then stared at me like a deer in headlights. She then said, "You can only redeem the promotion for one free sandwich." I replied in a joking manner, "Okay, let's back up here... The coupon states with any purchase, which I haven't even made a purchase and could have just left." After an additional 10-15 minutes of conversation, I finally received the free burger! Unfortunately, after arriving home, the food was certainly not worth the wait. The food quality suffered, the portion sizes were mediocre, and the items were overpriced. I have been asking everyone for "a taste of the mid-west" since I've been here. Unfortunately, nobody could recommend anything. Being Southern born and bred, I was (still am) yearning for some southern comfort food. Although I did not find it at "Famous" Dave's, I did find the taste of the mid-west. Let me preface my comments by first paraphrasing Dave's quest for smoked ribs "...,just like the ones the champion pittmasters made in the Deep South." A question for Dave; If you found a taste of the south in chicago (snicker), why did you go to Memphis, Kansas City, Austin, and St Louis. Wouldn't it have been wiser to go straight to the Deep South instead? Ah, the mind of the mid west. Here's where the taste of the mid west comes in. I find the mid west to be completely lacking in originality, distinction, and identity. What dave has done, is hijack anothers' distinct characteristics and turn it into mediocrity, with the help of a focus group consisting of the finest, non-bar-b-que eating, mid-western minds available. In essence, he has created another knock off chain restaurant that is neither original, nor distinct. Don't believe me? Then look at Dave's own pamphlet of locations. With few exceptions, he is not in the south, and certainly not in the Deep South. With the possible exceptions of snow birds and tourist, his food could not and would not compare. At least not without an aggressive ad campaign and gimmicks. In case you haven't guessed, the food is VERY bland! This is why the restaurant is decorated with corrugated galvanized tin and artificial relics of a bygone era (with a black industrial overhead). The food does not stand on its own merits. But it is one of the few places that you can get sweetened tea! Oh I know you are supposed to say sweet tea, but this tea isn't really sweet, just sweetened. One last thought, the words on the door, "YOU CAN DARN NEAR BET WE'LL BE OPEN AT 11:00 EXCEPT WHEN THE COOK'S OL' EVINRUDE DON'T START -GENERAL MANAGER". You are in Bellevue Nebraska, not the swamps of Florida, or the bayous of Louisiana. I seriously doubt that your cook needs to use an outboard motor to get to work because the Missouri or Platte river is blocking his way. I'll leave the rest of the critique up to the geniuses of Nebraska to figure out. You insult me sir. I'll not be back. read more
