He is currently in T-k with Ms. Kelly and he blossomed to be communicative, thoughtful, understanding of what is being asked of him and the expectations. All teachers work incredibly well together and their number one priority is the children, ensuring they are feeling secure mentally, socially, and physically. If you ever have questions about how and why certain things are done, the teachers are more than happy to explain and work collaboratively with the parents. I can't say enough good things about the experiences I have had at Peppermint Junction and the caring staff/owner. I just went for my first tour there for my 3 kiddos and let me tell you I am SO PLEASED!!! the owner Jason's customer service is beyond exceptional. The minute I walked in I was greeted very warmly and with smiles. The facility is clean colorful, very fun looking. The children in each class looked so happy, and the staff all looked so happy to be there and with big smiles. Plus the amount of things for the kids to do and equipment inside and out were all up to date and well cared for. I will 1000% be sending my kids here until they age out. I brought my 3 and 5 year old here. My five year old attended for summer camp here and he absolutely loved it. He would get upset when I would pick him up early lol. My daughter also enjoyed her time here. I loved that her speech improved while attention peppermint. I felt the establishment was safe and well equipped for my babies. They also had no complaints or code violations when I looked them up so it made me feel at ease. Honestly it was one of the best rated schools in the Oxnard area. I was hesitant as my kids have attended mostly Montessori but after a few weeks I was sure this was a great decision. We unfortunately moved out of the area but if we hadn't our kids would 100% still be going here! Thank you so much Ms. Melanie, Ms. Corrina and Ms. Helen for everything! My daughter has been coming here since she was 4. She absolutely loves school & all the teachers. I really like the teacher to student ratio (low) so they become very close and watched closely. I have a 3yro son with Autism and this was his first time in a daycare/private school EVER! when I tell you they handled him so well. They allowed me to call when ever I needed to for my comfort. My son is speech delayed and after attending school here he is talking and saying his ABC's and so much more. I am so pleased. My kids have been here for a couple of years now. We came over from a big chain type of daycare/preschool where the level of care and professionalism was disappointing. PJ has inspired substantial growth and positivity emotionally and intellectually. The teachers are amazing and caring they make individual connections with each child that last as you move through their program. The class sizes are appropriate so the kids receive adequate one on one and group activity. I can't say enough good things about this school. My son has been going here for the past year for pre-school. The staff and faculty are very nurturing. My son has learned his sounds, letters, shapes and numbers. They do art projects that are cute. Every time I come in it looks like the kids are having a great time - reading, singing, dancing, playing, gymnastics. Been with PJ Academy for many years. Two of our children have had their schooling through PJ and now our grandchild attends as well. Staff members are understanding and very easy to work with. LOVE this school. My son went to Peppermint Junction for preschool(age 4). Very nice private school, teacher are skillful, great teaching curriculum, family friendly environment, staff knows all students by name, preschoolers are well prepared for kinder. If student will attend full time - they are required to take their lunch - one plus (+) is that each classroom has a microwave and students can have a nice warm lunch . I personally never had any issues with this school. I regret not taken my son sooner (at age 2) to Peppermint Junction. read more

I expected much more from this self proclaimed educational institution. I expected my child to receive high quality education and a solid structure for learning. After paying a great amount of money, I found we were not receiving what we paid for. The school year started fine. The kindergarten class received a new teacher who was very well qualified for the position. She had the necessary education, background and credentials to teach effectively. I was very pleased with her, as were the other parents. After a short time frame, she suddenly was fired for "not fitting the PJ Academy mold". She was replaced with another PJ academy staff member who also happened to be the daughter of another PJ academy staff member. The new teacher did not have any background, education or credentials. She had been teaching the preschool only. After a few months of struggling, the school decided to bring in ANOTHER teacher. 3 teachers in 1 year. How are the kids supposed to learn? Where is the structure? Where is the Consistency? My child and other children struggled with the curriculum and with behavior issues. Some of the children with behavioral problems were allowed to stay if they were long time friends with the staff or had multiple children (money and friendship over education). Some parents pulled their children from the school and moved them to public schools or to other private schools. I found out after I switched schools that the teachers are not required to have any education, training, or certification in teaching because they fall under the owners credentials. This was disturbing at first, but I soon had an "Ah Ha" moment - i saw why the facility was doing so poorly in educating our youth. Another issue I had was with the director of the facility - Lynn Young. The pamphlet for the facility states that all who are part of the facility (staff, children, guardians, and parents) are to maintain respect for one another at all times. Lynn Young was very disrespectful when I had conversations with her. She was accusatory and would attempt to over talk me when I was speaking -and this was in the main foyer with other staff and parents watching. She is insensitive, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Already, my child is much happier in the new school I enrolled him in. The teacher is well qualified, with over 15 years of experience and knows how to handle kindergartners - maintaining structure, consistency, and discipline in the class room. Peppermint Junction is a fabulous school! The staff cares for the children with all of their heart. The events they put on like the Winter Festival, Art Fair, Science Fair in the academy and the end of year carnival are so much fun. The children are in an academic setting where they grow in all aspects. I love that I could keep my child in this school from age 2 to 5th grade with morning and afternoon care. read more
