It's been a while since I reviewed Peppers, but I went back again recently. You cannot help but to be nostalgic for your original hometown hangout, right? I am elated to report that they have fixed their issues and are well on their way back to being the friendly hometown bar that they were when I first started going there! The crowd has significantly mellowed out, while retaining many of the old regulars. The staff, no longer up to their elbows in crazy people and Corona regulations, have returned to being the friendly neighbors that they once were. It's the quintessential hometown dive bar once again. You won't find a smoked Old Fashioned with Japanese ice served in a magnetic glass, and that's a good thing. Good evening. I have a friend visiting town for the weekend and decided to take him out to a local bar. The bar peppers (first time experience for myself) had a waitress/manager that denied us service. We had not ordered a single drink nor were we intoxicated. It seemed like because we were possibly of Caucasian decent (i am venezualan but look caucasian) that they excluded us. The bar seems to have only a limited amount of people who (know the manager) and are allowed to drink. It was extremely disrespectful and without any reason. We respected the business right to deny service but it seems to be pick and choosy with the female manager. read more

This bar is cut from old cloth and is an absolute gem of you're looking for a pool hall straight out of the movies. There's a great community vibe here as well. If you don't mind the smokiness (see what I mean about old cloth?) and enjoy good hearted banter, good drinks, and great bar food then this is the place for you. read more

It's funny how a dress code can be enforced to some but not all. The fact that crop tops and bandanas aren't allowed is fair but a hot, tall stripper who's a female can wear a cropped sweater that shows her boobs (literally saw nipple when she raised her arms) and a blue bandana on her head can get away with it is ridiculous. Especially when a veteran wearing an American flag bandana is told to put it away...? Make it make sense. The dress code is a dumb rule and you should hire better security that will uphold said rules for everyone. Regardless of how "hot" they are. read more

Walked in, was told we had to have masks on to play pool and while playing. There were 2 guys playing pool not wearing masks(hypocritical much?) and not one person in the place, even the bartenders, were not wearing masks. Bunch of sheep, lost our business! Went to this bar after 11, no food was available while asking for a cocktail menu the bimbo tender told there wasn't one yet I looked at the napkins and there were two little promotion ones. I was there to also celebrate a friends birthday, yet while I was having a good time this bartender was receiving 15-25% tips. At last call she was the only bartender left, yet while I politely requested a drink 8 til she told me I've had enough. While then pouring two other patrons tap beers. I wanted to give her money like the other bartenders, so why when I didn't knock over anyone or anything was I denied a last drink let alone why was there no food at 11pm with a closing time of 3am? ... So, we were at the Bar, Peppers greenwood and I went to pay the tab and I saw there was an entertainment charge of .50 cents per item ordered. 7 beers, 2 diet cokes (1 diet coke with a refill) and one sprite 29.00 and some change. When I asked about it they told me that all the poker players were being up-charged .50 cents per item ordered to cover the cost of the people who came in to play and ordered nothing or just sat around and drank water. Just the poker players are being upcharged. When I went to tell the rest of the poker players about it (we had not been told about this beforehand) one of the security people confronted me and told me "you're not making any speeches in this bar" he then told me to get out. I told him I was leaving but I am waiting on my credit card. He then told me to get over to the bar and wait for the server to finish my transaction. So, I did, and he kept running his mouth. Not Shure what he was saying so of course I said something to the effect of "WTF man I am waiting on her to give me my card back". About then some steroid eating 12-year-old told me I had better stop talking. At this point I am pretty pissed. I paid the tab and we left. There is more that went on but that is the meat and potatoes of what happened. I got my card back and we left the bar without incident. Stopped in for a drink just trying to feel out bars on the southside of Indy. I thought it was very cool that this place had 8+ pool tables and offer FREE POOL Monday-Thursday. I don't think any place beats that -- that I know of atleast. They do allow smoking in this bar which for me is a no turn off. As I do not smoke and dislike the smell. This bar has a pretty big dance floor area and a single U-shaped bar. Personally I would only come here to shoot pool, not to drink and hangout. read more

ALWAYS check your bill/tab! A few times after checking we've noticed there are extra drinks on there or the prices aren't the same as what was quoted. The bartenders don't have a clue how to mix a drink, I've had to tell them step by step how to make a dirty martini. Seriously, if you're a bartender and you can't make a martini then you're in the wrong profession. Also, last but definitely not least there is a guy that works there, I'm not sure if he is a bouncer or a manager but on at least 4 occasions my husband and I have seen him in there being a complete jerk to people. He's a shorter guy, (about 5'7ish), short dark hair and just a real douche! He apparently thinks he's a lot more important than what he actually is because he runs around that bar acting like he's God and doesn't realize, at best, he's a crappy manager at a hole in the wall joke of a bar. read more

This place used to be a fun place to go have some drinks and play some pool, but the last time my wife, friends and I went here we were pretty bored. We got our drinks, played some pool for awhile and left. The dj sucks, always plays crap, the crowd, if there ever is a crowd, is usually old folks just drinking the night away. Waked in and then walked out. It's a huge place inside but the only thing that's happening at the bar is a lot of smokers. The rest of the place was a ghost town on a Friday night. It's a shame there are not any good hang out bars in greenwood. read more

Nice staff and great burgers!! The breaded tenderloin is huge, plenty big enough for 2 people!! Lots of tvs for game watching. Ive noticed they do have free pool most of the times we have been in. They do allow smoking so if you are a smoker you might find this helpful. read more

I'm a bartender at Peppers. I've been there for four years. I usually work a couple jobs at one time. I feel like I've worked at every bar on the southside. I've never left Peppers. I've never gotten the same feeling from a bar. It's almost like home to me. I have one more year left of school, and then I'll finally have my nursing degree. This bar played a huge part in helping me achieve my dream. The regulars are like family and the customers are always so nice. I feel like Peppers is like that bar from Cheers. Everyone knows your name. Strangers laugh and talk with one another all night, I see it everyday. It's nice to see people engage and socialize. Peppers is a relaxed hangout bar. We are more than happy to serve food. Most of the bartenders even keep the kitchen open later for guests. Most of the time people would rather go anywhere else besides where they work, but I drive out of my way to go to Peppers. Check us out! read more
