Asti was still known as Estia when we were here a few years ago. Some overlap with another business…read morerequired them to change their name at some point since then, but we enjoyed the same great food and service this time too. It is on W. Main St in Falmouth on the first stretch off of Locust St, which is the Falmouth town name for the road to Woods Hole. There is street parking and a little lot alongside and behind it, though have never found space there. The Greek food is the best I have had since my years growing up in CT. We always have a good time and this summer we were able to get patio seats out front. It's cavernous inside and good for bad weather and large parties. We have eaten inside on other trips when it was colder or rainy. It's fine and comfortable seating and a bit roomier between tables. There are booths inside too. We ate dinner here the night we arrived and again the night before we left. It has become our tradition now. Both nights, we had excellent service and excellent food. We did have the exact same dessert both nights since we had liked it so well the first night and we didn't see anything more balanced for both of our tastes. And their desserts are large enough to share. We had a variety of appetizer items for a smaller meal the first night, tired from having driven from Hartford, via Narragansett, for a stop to see friends. It is the long way to the Cape from Hartford, but seeing our friends was worth it as they have never travelled to CO. The second night we chose larger individual plates based on the items we tried the first night and had another great meal. One of the plates was their enormous version of spanakopita and the other was a large plate of the lamb "lollipops," glorified yummy grilled lamb skewers. We had drinks too. All in all it was truly the quality of food we have come to expect from them. It is family owned and a very polished operation with a vibrant bar inside. All ages were represented in the customer base and I understand that the locals love it too, but they mostly attend off season. It and all of Falmouth was mobbed the week we were there, just before the annual Falmouth Road Race.

I went with the grape leaves as my side and grabbed a Smartwater. Simple and a solid value. Let's start with the pita, because I'm a texture nut and this thing was perfect, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The gyro itself was packed, literally spilling out with filling, and was super flavorful. I'll admit I went in expecting the typical lamb/beef, so the pork caught me off guard. Turns out after doing some reading on the inter-webs, pork is actually the authentic Greek preparation and the lamb/beef is the more Turkish/American take on it. Either way, one bite and I was a convert. The grape leaves were everything you want them to be; briny, punchy, and packed with filling. No complaints there. As for the ambiance, another reviewer put it best: "I wouldn't take my first date here." Fair enough. But for a quick, no-fuss lunch? It was perfect. Between 12 and 1 this place was absolutely jamming, with barely a seat to spare, which should tell you something. Not to mention I heard the staff greet many people by name. I'll be back, and next time I'm bringing my partner. She loves Greek food and this place deserves a proper visit.

But the gyro meat was surprisingly bacony and fattier than I expected. They had a nice selection of fruit sodas that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I wouldn't pick this place for a first date or anything but it seemed like it would be great if you had a big party.

Made reservations for a specific table, when we got there, it was being used by other guests. Spoke to the hostess explained that we made made reservations for that table. Her condescending remark was., " do you want me to throw them off that table?" Because of the time there was no way to make reservations at any other establishment, so we decided to stay there, they sat us in a brightly lit area off from the main dining room. The food came out, extremely slow one at a time My wife's food was wrong. Sent it back, by the time everyone else was finished with their food. She still had not received her plate. Again called the hostess over to tell her to take it off the bill we are leaving. She said sorry it takes a while to cook baked scallops. Keep in mind this is at least 20 to 25 minutes later. She said, would you like to take that dish home, I said absolutely not. That's when she said in that case I will definitely take it off the bill! I would never go back to this place. I would never recommend this place, the food was at Best. OK the service was at Best OK. The hostess was condescending and cocky. My wife left that place in tears as she didn't even get to eat on her birthday.

Since we were t going home after dining, we didn't want leftovers, so the owner helped guide us to their "small" 12" pizza. It was perfect and we each had four slices. When we arrived all of the booths were full, so we sat at a high top. When our pizza was ready, the owner asked if we'd like to move to a booth, even though it was their largest booth and we were just a party of two. As we were leaving she said, "enjoy the show". Not only was the broccoli and mushroom pizza delicious, but the attention of the owner to her customers ensured that I will return! On my next trip, I might enjoy one of their adult beverages, and order a large so I can enjoy leftovers!
