Dinner for five dine in. Greeted immediately by friendly busboy and minutes later water delivered. Easy substitution of tamari for gluten free. Almost every dish bursted with flavor with the standout being Tom Kha soup. Generous portion of Beef Panang had strong coconut and lemongrass overtones and perfectly mild as requested. Yummy fresh crisp green beans with fried tofu really rounded out the meal. The chef seafood speciality was very good but a bit heavy on the bell pepper/onion filler. Chicken satay was thoroughly enjoyed by the 4-year old. Adults all had a taste and agreed that it was moist but lacked flavor. One more big plus- rice was included, it seems a rarity in asian restaurants these days. Final bill was about $100- no alcohol, just an apple juice for the little one. We also liked their Shrimp Pad Thai, its on the sweet and tangy side just the way I like it. The broccoli/green beans with tofu and peanut sauce is delicious. And the tofu curry was delightful too. But, I wasn't a fan of the actual dish. For one, It was not sweet enough for me. I tried Peppers for the first time via delivery. I was home solo, craving Thai, and this was the cheapest option. While far from authentic, Peppers wasn't bad. Mind you, I went with the most basic order possible: Pad Thai with shrimp and spring rolls. The Pad Thai wasn't super flavorful but also wasn't bland, but most importantly the shrimp were not overcooked at all and they give you a nice portion of at least 8 pretty large shrimp. No regrets there. Spring rolls were OK, crispy outside but the filling was kinda mushy. The two best things I've ever eaten in my life were both in Thailand: 1. Sukhothai noodles in Sukhothai, at a hole in the wall place with no English name I found by saving a Google Maps screenshot and showing it to a local. I devoured a bowl and loved it so much I ordered another. 2. live (tiny) shrimp mixed with toasted rice, lime, and cilantro in a small fishing village. had to eat 'em quick before they jumped off the spoon. Wow! I'm surprised I stumbled upon this gem as they are definitely delicious. The glass noodles dish I had were plentiful in veggies, shrimp and chicken that I ordered. Portions were very generous as I had enough for a second meal. I did like the chicken satay but it is a little sweeter and creamier than I remember chicken satay being. Service was friendly. It is a small place just doing pick up which I applaud, make sure to order over the phone rather than 3rd party platforms to continue to help support local businesses! My wife and I just experienced Peppers Thai for the first time. First impressions were really good from the excellent customer service over the phone to the customer service in person. The person we spoke with was very nice and it was fair priced for the amount of food. I got the Pad Thai and she got the Kung Pao Chicken. Both of our orders tasted good and we split an order of Veggie Rolls. I tried very hard to finish my food but I ended up eating less than half and saved the rest for the next day. Boy was I surprised when I found out they had opened up another location *when I lived out of the valley, I would come to Palm Springs to eat at their PS location* Now that I live in Rancho Mirage this location is near me. Just finished eating up the food we picked up......and yes.....it's as good as the PS location. The cashew tofu dish was delicious and my partner gobbled up his garlic chicken. My wife and I love exploring different Thai food places around SoCal. We see this place every time we leave Target and every time we say we'll come try it out. Well tonight was the night and we were beyond devastated. Upon entering the small shop, it smelled amazing. However, the first bite you take is flavorless. And this after spending $90 bucks for delivery on just 4 items for just the 2 of us! The Pad Thai had little flavor, and the wafer-thin chicken pieces had no flavor at all (like eating nothing). The crab rolls had only the slightest, faintest hint of crab flavor in them (paid for whipped cream cheese only on this one). And while the pineapple red curry was tasty, the base was as thin as water - it had the consistency of flavored water. Not worth the 90 bucks at all! Beware of being over charged! The menus have more things listed as "not available" than available and the prices being charged don't match the menus. When questioned I was told it was tax. Then I was told the drink was more than listed because of ice! One excuse after the other. I decided to cancel the order and the woman working said she was unable to do refunds and the owner would call my bank in a few days. Was craving some Thai food for dinner and found this place pretty close to our hotel. They only do pickup at the moment so I had to order to go. The portions from the Pad Thai were huge with a good amount of chicken. The flavor was actually good a little dry and it didn't come with lime like I'm accustomed to but it still was good. The Pad Se Ew had tons of beef in it, the meat weren't all the same sizes. Like you would get a bite of a nice thin sliced piece then get a huge chunk of beef that was dry and over cooked and had no flavor in the next bite. This dish was definitely lacking flavor as well. The Mongolian beef which was for the kids was really tasty. Nicely flavored but definitely not enough meat compared to the other dishes. You could definitely split a noodle dish to share which is a plus! Price is a little more than average, I bought 4 dishes and 3 Thai Teas and it cost me $74. We tried the food here about two months ago and really liked it. We got a second order maybe two weeks back and liked it just as much. We ordered the won ton soup the first time and loved it. The broth is delicate and savory at once. There are a lot of vegetables in the soup and the won tons are very good. We got it again the second time. Don't miss this soup. We have had the green curry, the yellow curry, the flat noodles(Pad See Ew) with chicken, the Thai chicken wings, the pot stickers, and glass noodles. Everything we have tasted has been very good. Note on the heat level. They offer levels 1-5 and the first time we got level 3. It is delicious but hotter than I expected. This was Thai level 3 and not American white guy level 3. Backed off to level 2 the second time and that was just right for us. I love hot food, but Thai food is more nuanced than Buffalo wings or a burrito with Chili Verde so level 2 gives gives a good heat level but lets the taste of their food shine through instead of masking it. This is purely personal preference and your mileage may vary. We moved to the desert six years ago from the DC Metro area and there are a lot of great Thai restaurants there. This is the best Thai food we have found in the valley. There are a couple of Thai places I like but there are others I only ate in once. This is close, fast, and good quality. Portions are large and the heat level does go up the second day, just in case you need to know that. A note about another review. The reviewer warned about MSG possibly being in the food. the anti-MSG trope is at least 40 years old and there is no scientific evidence to prove a an effect from the compound. The notion began as a criticism of Chinese food that has some strong hints of ethnic or racial fears or antagonism. I first heard of this in the early 1980's and the idea has been debunked many times over. I have no idea if Peppers uses MSG or not, but I do know that MSG is in lots of food that we consume in this country, especially packaged foods. MSG occurs naturally in tomatoes and cheeses. Chick-Fil-A and KFC use MSG. It's in snacks, frozen meals, and canned soups. I've never seen it as an ingredient in a jar of spaghetti sauce, probably because it's not added but in the main ingredient off the vine. Is it possible that some people are sensitive to MSG? Yes. Does that mean that MSG caused whatever symptom you had after eating in restaurant is because of MSG? Not necessarily. If you eat Italian food with marinara sauce and you don't get "Chinese food syndrome" that may be because you don't expect the problems in Italian food but you do in Asian kitchens. I think a reviewer should ask the restaurant first before making a claim about ingredients in their food when the OP has no idea if the claim in true. MSG is blamed for lots of things: headaches, bad stomach, obesity, etc. Claims that it is dangerous are all based on flawed studies that have been debunked in recent more comprehensive research. read more
