Basil Thai was so delicious. It's a smaller restaurant in a commercial complex in la quinta but the owner accommodated a party of 35 for my 50th birthday dinner on a busy memorial day weekend. We ordered the ginger fish, cubed garlic steak, orange chicken, yellow panang chicken curry, spring rolls with tofu, fried rice, and spicy tofu eggplant. We were amazed how everything came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. All of our party really enjoyed the dinner and i was so elated. Orn, the owner helped with our menu planning and was so accommodating. She allowed my wife to set up bday banners and decorations beforehand pretty early while they were still open for customers. Their service was top notch and always made sure our drinks and food were timely. I met her in the back afterwards and can tell she cooked with pride and love. SHORT ANSWER: Yes, just updating for 2026 but still low key, easy going Thai experience. Nothing fancy except great service and food. LOCATION: Nice shopping center location, very open with lots of parking. FACILITY: Very nice, not modern inside and has not changed since they opened but totally fine. MENU: Lunch menu is kind of limited but has all the goodness and noodle choices you'd expect. Not much savings for lunch special. FOOD PREP: Very well done for such a small kitchen. FOOD QUALITY: Really good for what it is, I would have liked a bit more spice or to at least to have been asked for spice level options. I'd say spice level was like a 1 at other Thai places. Rice noodle was great. WAITSTAFF: We arrived at open 11:30am, very nice and attentive getting us seated and order in, then they were packed. Only one person on the floor doing everything, he was amazing dealing with seating, orders, and payment. OVERALL VALUE: It is fair but not inexpensive, a good value for sure for our local place that is reliable and consistent. Ordered take out online and both of the shrimp dishes that we received has visible discoloration and waste inside, which was extra disappointing because of the price point of the dishes. The pad Thai with tofu and vegetables had decent taste as well as the papaya salad but the shrimp unfortunately was on my mind the entire time we were eating especially since all the shrimp was cut in half. They do have their takeout processes figured out with dividing the hot and cold dishes into different bags. read more

Wow! What a hidden gem. We had to order the money bags appetizer because people rave about them in all the reviews and they did not disappoint. We also got the chicken pad see ew and yellow curry. Everything was delicious. It was the perfect amount for three people. We ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert to go because they were about to close, although our kind server insisted we could stay for dessert. The restaurant is in the corner of an ordinary shopping center that has many other great places in it, like Soul of China next door and the Mexican restaurant on the other side. I had the opportunity to have dinner here with some family all of us from out of town. It's a small but mighty spot they even were decorated a bit for Christmas it was very cool to see, but not overwhelming. They were very kind and helpful with making sure we knew what we were ordering and how much since we had kids and were trying to ensure every one had enough to eat. The food was good I had pad see ew and they were very kind in ensuring the modifications I requested were followed. The price point was a little higher than I'm use to for the portion size, but I will say what was missing for me in terms of that was definitely made up in great customer service and the staff even offered to take our photo knowing we had all come from different parts of town to eat together. The location is smacked up in the middle of old town, La Quinta. The food was delicious. Service was kind of slow because it was a busy night and there was too little help. Restaurant is small, so the night we were there there was a table of four golfers who thought they were still on the golf course because they talked very loud and they made the restaurant very very noisy and very difficult to have a conversation. read more

Fantastic Thai food in La Quinta. I've loved their sister restaurant on the other side of the desert and was excited when this place opened seeing they are partners. I knew I could expect delicious food and friendly service. Please note they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Lucky for me I came Saturday for lunch and the spot wasn't busy at all. I think it's the shopping center as the restaurant is tucked away slightly so you'd only know of it if you are a local. Plus it's a good drive away from the freeway but if you are vacationing in downtown La Quinta or a local this spot is as good as any of the bigger Thai restaurants throughout the desert. The inside was small but still felt spacious. The decor was more modern but still very comfortable and welcoming. I liked that they had a small bar so you can get cocktails here. Very clean and cute inside. Service was exceptional. Since they weren't busy they had the owner working the front. He was very nice and efficient getting everyone drinks, food, and the check coming out quickly. He was very nice and made me feel welcomed throughout my meal. He could also sense I was in a little rush so I appreciated the pace. They have a good sized menu and lunch specials which is a great deal. It's primarily Thai inspired dishes but with little tweaks to some mains like having orange chicken and fried rice that tasted more traditional Chinese. Great menu overall. The food was five stars all day long. Delicious and there wasn't a bite I didn't like. I also did upgrade my lunch combo to include a soup and fried rice which was well worth it. The Tom kha is a classic, not the best I've had but good. However the pad see ew and panang curry were so tasty! Done right and the flavors were good. Also portion size is very generous! I know some people were saying this spot is a little pricy but once I saw the portions I felt like everything was reasonable. Surprisingly what was my favorite bite here was just their simple fried rice! Can you believe that? It was so buttery yet light with a good amount of egg and sesame oil flavoring I was loving that side, my only regret was not knowing how good the rice would be or else I would have ordered a whole large side of fried rice. We discovered this restaurant when they had a location in Redlands, they also had a location in Palm Springs and unfortunately those had to close down and they have this restaurant in La Quinta. Incredibly stingy portions, while enduring a 30-minute wait just for appetizers. Average price of entrees is a whopping $22, a complete rip off, for less than 12ounces of food. Yes, the taste is there, but our food was cold by the time they reached our table. I usually take half of my food home. Tonight, I dumped the rest of my wife's unfinished rice into the remaining sauce, just so I can leave somewhat satiated. I honestly should have just refused everything brought to us. The restroom was filthy with sticky floors and out of paper towels too. The kitchen was so swamped with take out orders, our waitress had to go back in the kitchen to assist the single cook on duty. My husband ordered Pad Thai noodles with Tofu instead of meat or shrimp. They accommodate! Take out was exactly the same quantity and quality. My husband and I are foodies, I've lived in Thailand for 2 years and lived in Asia most of my teen years and tried so many variety of Asian food. This is the best quality by far, and worth the couple of $ for the quality and excellent service. Probably not for a large family with kids for dine in, or quick cheap take-out.
