We have gone here many times. Usually order the same thing orange beef and General Tso chicken. Did they get a new Szechuan chef? Both were extremely hot and we love spicy, but these two were virtually inedible and we ended up tossing some of it as we couldn't eat it. WOW! My family and I live in Arizona, and we're used to sub-par, cheap Chinese food in our area. It's truly a family comfort, and affordable.... This is by far the cheapest and most delicious place we've been! 10.95 daily specials, INCLUDES A DRINK (75 cents for a refill, though, but still a huge bargain)! It came out piping hot in 10 minutes despite it being slightly busy. It's also nice and cool in here despite being in the middle of summer. Service was pretty good but not outstanding; they were friendly with every interaction so far. Portions were very large and food delicious! Tables are set pretty close together; I could imagine it being a bit overstimulating if each table was full. Overall amazing, best Chinese I have had and the cheapest. I use loved this place so much. I was so disappointed last night. The food looked off. I ordered egg foo with beef. Fried rice and noodles Well the dish came out and I knew this was not going to be good. The egg foo had chopped meat thrown on top of the egg foo covered in gravy. The fried rice (not fried rice) its bad no flavor It's basically steamed rice with a little egg a little veg with a prob soy sauce to color BUT IT WAS NOT FRIED RICE. The rice was like steamed gross. The noodles were nasty tasting flavorless .. I am not being ugly or rude but I make better to Roman noodles (flavorless and watery) the egg roll was good and so was the hot tea. $12 down the drain! I guess I will drive further into PS and go to my little Chinese hole in the wall... however, the staff at china 8 are really nice but I won't be going back. Last time I've been here had to be decades ago when I lived here as a kid. Glad to see it's still kicking. Of course I don't remember those experiences. Either way came here for lunch with my aunt who has been coming here for decades. Got there around lunch time, half full inside, service was quick and good, attentive for the most part. Place of course was clean and kept up. But the lunch deal that they have for the food is definitely worth it and the portion sizes are very generous to where someone like me can eat until I'm full and yet still have enough leftovers to take home and have another good sized meal later that night. Of course on top of the that, the most important thing was the food tasted great! If you dine in for lunch I think you get tea and an egg roll I think compared to not getting those if you get take out. Just the meal for the same price. Either way, my aunt got a bunch more food to go to take home to the family and I was happy with my meal and the amount I still had to take home with me. Of course if you look at the ratings from everyone, it's not as high as I'm giving it. But until they disappoint, which I hope it doesn't. China 8 is a real good Chinese restaurant. I go there once a week easily but I'll tell you although they have great specials and it's a lot of food at a good price. I go there for their war wonton soup. It's fantastic. It's probably the best in all of the city war wonton soup. It's got shrimp pork chicken vegetables. It is great. It's about $11 or so. It's enough for two, but you should just be one person enjoying it. It'll fill you up. It's a great dinner. It's a great lunch. i'm fairly new to the area. I'm from the LA area which has amazing Asian food everywhere and at a great price. Sadly the valley is sorely lacking in this department. I saw that the place didn't have very good reviews but neither did anywhere else and this is the closest place to me so I thought I would give it a shot. I was very pleasantly surprised. I had ordered the chicken with mixed vegetables and the chow mein. The chow mein was absolutely delicious. The best I've had. Most of the time I don't really like trying chow mein because I find it dry and the noodles are usually all thick. These noodles were soft and flavorful. My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken which honestly didn't look that great because they poured a bunch of sauce all over it so if you are going to order this dish definitely ask for the sauce on the side. Depends on who is in the kitchen! First dinner visit I got my favorite, Singapore Chow Mei Fun. Not spicy at all, disappointing, Noodles were a plenty, but other usual ingredients were missing or in short supply, like chicken,pork or shrimp, Onions, bean sprouts were also in short supply. Visit 3 days ago, I had lunch special. Shrimp Mei Fun dinner on inside cover page for $11.99. Tiny egg roll, 6 pieces of shrimp, noodles with a brownish sauce, again disappointing. Flies in dining room. But there is NO EXCUSE for FLIES in dining room! This is a mark of cleaning shortcuts. What else is wrong in food prep/storage areas? I'll pass on other visits. I tried the walnut shrimp. It was ok. Seemed old. Too much broccoli. For the price they give you very little. But it was shared between my grandparents. I tried some of the rice also. I was highly recommended to dine here by a friend who said the food here is some of the best Chinese food he's had in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City area. Unfortunately, my first-generation Chinese palate said "No." I am embarrassed that the Chinese who work here are serving up mediocre food where some of the flavor profiles are off. While the Combination Fried Rice (aka Yang Chow Fried Rice) and the Mu Shu Pork were good, some of the other dishes we ordered were bad. Hot & Sour Soup was neither hot nor sour. It was Sweet and Salty. My friends asked for vinegar and ground white pepper in order to correct the flavor of the soup. Kung Pao Three Ways (beef, chicken and shrimp) had the wrong flavor profile as well. It tasted as if someone mistakenly put in hoisin sauce into the mixture. The Stir Fried Green Beans weren't properly seasoned. It had an off flavor to them, which was the reason why 1/3 of the plate was left untouched. While they state that they are best Chinese food in Cathedral City, that bar for the best Chinese food must be very low to the ground. This place is a pass for this Chinese foodie. read more

We have gone by this restaurant for years seeing people with carry out bags. We decided to stop there a couple weeks ago around dinner time. They have a big menu including a "special" with about 10 dishes that include steamed rice, fried rice, or lo mein, an egg roll, and a drink, all for $10.95!! The restaurant has about 20 tables the AC was going so nice - since it was like 100° outside! We brought ours back to our room and didn't even put a dent into it! I work in Cathedral City down the road from this place but live in San Jacinto. I was so hungry after work and my client suggested China 8. He raved about the portions of food and how delicious each entree was. The special dinner at $10.95 is amazing to say the least. I decided to take-home but if you eat inside your drink is included! I ordered shrimp egg foo young, teriyaki chicken with fried rice. I received my takeout w/in 10 minutes with a full house of diners in the place. I waited to get home after an hour drive to open my containers of food. WOW I WAS SO SURPRISED!! Each container was spilling over with Fried rice to perfection. The Shrimp foo young was beyond my expectations. The egg "cakes "were so thick and delicious, the gravy was seasoned so flavorfully, and was given in a separate container to pour over as you wish. The egg rolls are kinda small but very delicate & packed with flavor. The other entree was chicken teriyaki and loaded with onions and a slightly sweet sauce. The chicken was cooked so tender and very delicious. Upon my arrival home the food was still warm and ready to eat. The menu selection is amazing with entrees ranging in price. The special $10.95 has also great choices but limited to about 8 entrees at that price. The staff was very attentive and kind. The amount of food coukd last for another meal. I have been eating here for almost 20 years. we stopped by recently and I ordered fried rice to try something new. Second big bite I felt something weird. I pulled out a foot long gray hair out of my mouth. I told the waitress and she asked if I wanted another one. I politely said no. About 2 minutes later a person in the back with long grey hair was looking towards our table. We were so disgusted we could not eat the other dishes, so we paid and left. We dined here every time we visit Palm Springs and the food is GOOD and the food server (He's a man) is very polite and quiet. (We like that)! Anyway, we just don't want to be bothered when we are eating. It's very annoying when the waitress interrupt us while we are conversing/eating and be asked 'How's the food' ?.....
