We were out exploring Old Port the first full day in Montreal. While visiting a wine bar I asked a local gentleman for a roof top suggestion. He gladly took us for a walk to the William Gray hotel. I Love meeting people who friendly to outsiders! The rooftop was extremely busy with other F1 fans. I grabbed a bar seat and my friend stood beside. We quickly struck up conversation with other guests and order glasses of wine. Neither of us were starving but I always order oysters when on the menu. As soon as the bar tender brought the tray I noticed the shells were dry . The type of oyster was not deep belly but none the less don't lose all the wonderful juice when shucking! The first oyster I tasted also had a significant piece of shell.When the bartender came round for more wine I explained I was not interested in the rest of the oysters. She apologized and brought another order that were not dry. We really appreciated her hospitality. Perche is a chic and lovely spot to enjoy city and water views when in Montreal. read more

Checked out this rooftop patio above the hotel William Gray on a summer weekend afternoon. It is one of the better views in Old Port. Food - (3.5/5) - it's not an expansive menu for sure so check ahead if u are eating to see that u have options. Had the Burger Perche and it was not bad. Onion bacon jam was a nice topping. Burger was cooked well and sweet potato fries were good. Burrata appetizer was ok. Not as good as u would find at pure Italian restaurants but ok. Service - (4.25/5) - Servers were friendly and attentive. Food and drinks came fairly quickly. Atmosphere- (4.25/5) - two tiers of tables to see the city with umbrellas for when it's too hot. After enjoying ourselves in the nearby speakeasy ColdRoom it was time for our dinner reservation at Perche. Overlooking Place Jacques Cartier, Perche is an upscale eatery and cocktail bar. We sat near the glass with great views of the Place and the Old Port. Street performers music filled the space was an added plus. The servers were all excellent especially Alex. This rooftop was closed to our hotel and we were curious to experience it as the view was good. The menu was limited and pricey but drinks were good and came fast. I ordered the grilled salmon and it was worth it. The ambiance was relaxing and there was perfect for a conversation while you drink ans eat. Came here for drinks on the rooftop while we were in Old Port. We happened to walk by and saw the rooftop which looked cool, so we tried our luck and they were able to seat our party of 12 pretty quickly. The entrance to the rooftop is in the alleyway. The elevator was broken so we had to take the stairs up, but once up there you get a birds eye view of everything; the water, the Ferris wheel and all the architectural buildings. The playlist they had on was great, a lot of throwbacks of R&B hits. Drinks are on the pricier side. I tried a couple different cocktails and they were all pretty good. My favorite was the blossom, it wasn't too sweet and perfectly refreshing. We didn't try any of the food so I can't speak to that. Service was alright, it was a bit on the slower side. read more

We stumbled upon this rooftop restaurant by chance, and we were so fortunate to do so! We had a group of 15 people, with no reservations for the evening, and the manager was so accommodating! He set us up at a couple high top tables, and put Kayla in charge of taking care of us. Kayla went above and beyond in taking care of us. She was an excellent server, but she was also so engaging with our group. The food and drinks were excellent and exactly what we needed. Perfect! We left our name on the list and received the text letting us know our table was ready sooner than we expected. We took the elevator up and were seated on opposite sides of a small round table. We chose to move the table and chairs so that we could sit next to each other side by side and my wife was anxious about if that would be okay. Seconds later, the gentleman poured us some water, checked the stability of the table that I had slightly moved and then placed a small shim to shore it up. This is one of the most beautiful roof top lounges I have been to. In the heart of old Montreal the beauty of it is surreal. You have the water body at a decent distance and have beautiful old architectural buildings all over. This place was packed with people! I am surprised there weren't as many reviews online as I would have expected. We did wait in line downstairs for about 10-15 Mins and got seated upstairs soon after. The servers were excellent and came to attend us right away. The cocktails and wine were excellent and paired well with the food. We got wine but we were seated near the bar so we could see all the cool cocktails everyone else was drinking. We got the tartare, poke and guacamole and the ceviche and it was all so good. The view is absolutely gorgeous and we will come here again in a heartbeat. The staff communicate in both French and English. Must go on a summer day! read more

We sat down as an unplanned large group and David was our waiter. He was so fantastic and offered amazing service while still ensuring our experience was fun! The roof top has a gorgeous view to enjoy drinks or a meal. We enjoyed everything we ordered which included the burrata, Cesar salad, mahi mahi, and filet mignon. She didn't even bother following up with me in regards to the wait time for our table. We made our way upstairs and was greeted by a second hostess - nobody bothered to stop and greet us. Seated at the bar - we had to flag down a bartender just to make an order_minus 1 *. Shortly, we did eventually get our own table. Seems like customer service is subpar on busy evenings compared to during weekday happy hour - the staff is more attentive. Touché I ordered food this time around to share : on 5 Stars : salmon tartar**** (onions, avocados being a strong element if the dish) with 4 biscuits; pulled pork tacos * (the meat was so underseasoned!!! Bland and no flavours- served as three pieces). Food =Minus 1 * For cocktails: we tried the carprinha pina and the Margaux L. Both were strong drinks but lacked a punch for the 12-16$ price range. We had dinner at the old port and had a nice walk in the artist street, found this place randomly and decided to have a drink. The restaurant is on top of a hotel. Take the elevator to the top. We were here around 7pm, the terrasse was not full. All the seatings with good view were taken. We still got a nice view. The waitress was pretty occupied. We made our orders, one beer and one cocktail. Normal price range but on the pricy side. We loved our drink and the nice roof top view. A must try place. I am a bit skeptical of the food, reading some of the reviews here but will probably come back and eat. read more

A disaster of a place. Walked in sat down took 30 min to get a menu! Ordered drinks and food! The guac is terrible the house chips were cold and old! Fish tacos half decent! Side raw tuna was okay.. the poke is probably the best thing on the menu. The cuban sandwich tasted very bland the chips that came with it were okay... cocktails were good but not worthy of a star since it took longer to get the drinks than the food...the octopus salad still trying to find the octopus. Service wasn't amazing. Servers with attitude. Went here in June with a friend of mine. There wasn't much of a wait. We were able to pick where we wanted to sit. There only one set of silverware on the table, and no napkins. Both my friend and I also had different menus, and it turns out we were only allowed to order from one section of the menu. I wish we knew that so we wouldn't have wasted time deciding from an unavailable menu. We ordered and I figured they would being out napkins and my set of silverware when the food was brought out, but nothing. When the waitress came with our food, she gave an attitude when I asked for a set of silverware and some napkins for the table. The attitude was as if I asked for my sparkling water to be at a certain temperature or something ridiculous like that. Other than that, the food was good. I had ordered a salmon avocado toast. It was hard to get their attention when we wanted the bill. Lovely atmosphere, affordable tasty food. I just think the poor service keeps me from ever giving them my money again. read more

What were you thinking.... If you can't hold a busy rush/lunch service, don't do it... I work in Old Montreal, since 3 years. It is hard to find a good lunch spot. This place is beautiful, mind blowing space. But the service... awfulness. We were celebrating my bday, a group of 12 co-workers. It took over 45 minutes for ours Pokebowl (wich were good - but, need no cooking so.... how come it took FOR EVER? I dunno). Also order fish tacos, big mistake. Pokebowl is THE way to go. Rooftop view is probably the best in Old Port. Especially if you manage to get one of the seats by the edge. But it really feels like that's all that makes the place "premium". Cocktails and food are just okay, for the price you can definitely find more competitive dishes/drinks in Montreal (including Old Port). Will say drinks are better than the food. Guess they overcharge only for the view. Don't train servers well either, or their standards for what they call polite service is pretty low. They tend to treat big groups better, probably cause of the greater spending/tips from a group. read more
