I heard about perfect rack billiards from a food Facebook group that raved about their wings which are .75 cents on Wednesdays. It was busy however the service was attentive and quick. The atmosphere was friendly like how you would want a local sports bar and I can see it being a good place for game day. The wings were cooked perfectly, with the right amount of crisp on the skin without overcooking them. I will say that I preferred them naked because I got the Cajun ranch breaded, which was good but the other wings we got were naked and I feel like would've complimented better (overall 9/10 wings). I had never been to Perfect Rack in Murray Hill but my buddy told me it's great for Jags games since they have great drink specials and some of the best wings in JAX so I had to check it out. We got their it was was starting to get crowded so we ended up getting seats at the bar. We ordered a special which was $20 for a pitcher and 10 wings. You can't beat a nice cold pitcher when watching football. Our wings came out and they let us know that they were missing 2 of our 10 but they would but out soon. They wings were really good. Battered with great sauce and crispy. They were also nice and juicy plus they were huge. When we got our other 2 they put in 3 and we had to work to finish them because they were so big. They also make free shots for when the Jag score. Unfortunately the Jags never scored and touchdown but they gave us shots anyway. We used to love this place, and their wings. We went on Saturday to watch a game and have wings. It was all around not a great experience. Stopped in recently to try the wings and check the place out. The PRB flavor the the Garlic Parm Spicy Ranch flavor both had plenty of sauce. They were a bit on the spicy side for me. As it was about 5pm on a Wednesday it wasn't too busy and we were taken care of quickly at the bar. We returned again last night for a drink and to relax. Undecided on dinner the evening we tried a Cheesecake egg roll with caramel sauce for an appetizer. They were great! Update: They do serve liquor now and the kitchen is open until they close. Don't quote me on the kitchen though. It's $6.00 an hour for pool and shuffleboard. No smoking inside but there's a back patio, or you can smoke at the front entrance which seems to be what a lot of people were doing... Tables are still nice and they wipe it down before you play. I thought I would update my review of the Perfect Rack for 2018 as it's the best kept secret in town. It's still my favorite place to grab an amazing burger [the best for your money in all of Jacksonville, IMHO]. Amy & Gary raised the price by about $2, but we gladly pay it. Every. Single. Time. They still serve up the best sides that come with most entrees. Try the pasta salad. It's so good. You can't go wrong with the fries or tater tots! The BEST fish and chips and steak quesadillas, too. Their wings are exceptional....really, really exceptional! I usually go for them unbreaded with medium sauce or garlic wings and dip them in ranch, blue cheese dressing and/or honey bbq sauce. It's all delish. Overall, this local family-owned and run business has been around for 10 years now serving up "not your average" bar food [and possibly better than your mamma's] in Murray Hill. Wow what a surprise! Old time pool hall in Westside Jax. Walk in to a cloud of second hand smoke. Classic. Jukebox on the wall spewing classic rock and country hits. There is a row of pool tables and one ping pong table. There is also a table shuffleboard with those little beads that make it slippery. The tables are in good condition and everything is surprisingly clean and well-maintained. The clientele ran the gamut of ages and socioeconomic status but everybody was nice and friendly. We got snacks. Club sandwich was standard. Fried zucchini from a bag but decent, same for corn fritters. Chili cheese fries a tiny bit spicy, same flavor as 1971. I've actually heard this establishment described best in one simple, but accurate phrase: "Perfect Rack is a wing bar disguised as a pool hall". I've been coming here with 15 of my friends every 'Wing Wednesday' for half a year. Their wings are without question the best in town. Throw in the .60 cent factor on Wednesday, it's beyond the best deal. My preference and go-to is the Cajun Ranch x Garlic Parmesan blend, cooked breaded. You can choose between 6, 10, 15 pieces with a MAX of 15 wings (on WED) ordered. Also you are limited to two sauce blends per order. If you like being tactical and diverse, go with 2x 6-piece with each having a two sauce blend. Each Wednesday order your favorite 6-piece and try out a new blend for the other 6-piece. Seriously tho, beyond the quality of the outstanding and fat chicken wings for incredibly low prices... the staff is extremely attentive, warm, welcoming, and on their A-game all the time. This place is a long lasting establishment in the Murray Hill area, that until RECENTLY allowed smoking inside; therefore I never went. No offense, but I didn't want to inhale toxic fumes from cigarettes! But this place has cleaned the inside, scrubbed walls, and now has a no smoking policy indoors. BELIEVE me when I say that you would NEVER know that smoking was allowed here for so long! THANK YOU Perfect Rack! The place itself is big, with plenty of seating, and a great bar to belly up to. With several pool tables, a shuffleboard, several TV's around to watch games, and a jukebox to help keep you entertained while eating and drinking. The menu is fairly substantial with your typical bar grub, and an extensive array of drinks to be had. Staff is friendly and suggestive if you are stuck and need help picking something good to eat. Make sure to ask about the specials....they offer some great items not listed on menu! I ordered the burger...just a normal old fashioned regular burger. Don't hate me, but, I ordered my burger well done with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle, which comes with a choice of sides ( fries, tater tots, potato salad, side salad)....I picked tater tots. YES! My burger was PERFECT, cooked exactly how I ordered it, and still juicy! My tater tots were crispy and crunchy, just how you would expect it to be. I paired this up with a nice cold Stella, however, the tap was bad and it tasted spoiled, so no questions asked, they gave a different beer of my choice. I went here on a date and when I walked in the regulars stared us down for a few seconds too long... Needless to say but It was a bit much. There was one older man behind the bar holding the front down by himself, so, I'll give him credit for that. Our food took 45 minutes to come out... There was about 10 ppl in the building and only half of the ppl ordered food. When our food finally came he explained that she burned the first burger and had to remake it.. BUT there has to be a golden rule somewhere about keeping the customer updated/informed ESPECIALLY in the event of a long delay! So I won't give him credit in that area. We ordered a 6 piece wings: Cajun ranch and a cheeseburger. Because my food came out with his my wings were room temp and all of the crispness that might've once been there was now gone. Yes, this is as about as hole in the wall as you can get. This is a pool hall and you order from a bar. They do have a decent amount of older tables lined up from the bar to the front door openly spaced in-between pool tables and dart boards. There is a constant smell of 40 year old cigarette smoke, but its not too strong - I promise! I hate cigarette smoke and couldn't handle it otherwise. They also have an amazing ventilation system for the smoke. You could always order to go if this is a deal breaker. Yes the wings are that good. The place is usually empty during regular daytime hours and that is when I always go. The hosts were kind and laid back. So far these are the best wings I have had in Jacksonville. They are bigger than normal (not that size matters, right?) and the flavor of the buffalo sauce is just perfect. The flavor, dare I say it, is even better than Buffalo New Yorks famous Anchor Bar and Duff's Famous Wings. Yes, I do travel to food specific locations to taste the "best of the best". Don't judge. They mistook that order for 2 mild wings. Yet, our table received 1 garlic parm and 1 mild. So, we returned the one with mild sauce, saying we would not like heat but just the garlic parm. We then received a naked wing back with no garlic parm. After complaining again, we received much attitude from the blonde bartender there. I'd had my eyes on the amazing food reviews for this place, so when a friend suggested we meet up here for some beers and dinner, I was sold. Right on Edgewood Ave, this unassuming pool hall and bar is serving up some very tasty eats. There are probably about 8-10 pool tables, and even a ping pong table, a few booths and a nice, U-shaped bar. The food reviews are right on. I really couldn't believe this smokey little dive had served up such an amazing burger. We ordered the burger, with cheese and bacon, and also fish and chips, which we just cut in half and shared. The burger, wow. Flavorful, cooked a perfect medium rare and while it just came with the regular suspects for dressing... I'm not sure what spices they are putting into that burger but it was fantastic. Had a little bite of the pasta salad (made with cheese tortellini, nice touch) and the fish and chips? Wow, two huge pieces of fried to perfection fish, and while there was just a tiny tad bit a grease to it (duh, it is fried) the batter was crisp, light and the fish was really great too! Good deals on pitchers, and while there wasn't a vast selection of beers on tap, as long as there are a few good ones (and there are), I'm a happy camper. I can't wait to come back and try some of the wings! This bar does allow smoking inside, so if you are super sensitive to that, please take note... it's not completely overwhelming, but I was a little stuffy from it the next day. But as a former smoker (ok, maybe still have a few here and there) it is nice to know that smoking friends can still enjoy and brew and a beer without being banned to the outside. read more

Hubby had read the reviews of the burger at this spot, so we decided to give it a try. Huge room with several pool tables, and a ping pong table (which the teen was excited to see). There is also a large bar in the back too. Burgers were good and juicy. Cooked to order, and selection of cheese and other toppings. They were out of potato salad, so we opted for onion rings and fries. Onion rings were okay - not made here, fries were hot and crispy. We played a game of ping pong while waiting which made the time go quickly. Staff was very friendly. Most of the patrons were men playing pool after they had eaten their lunch. The biggest drawback for us is the stale smoke smell. Even though there air filter/system seems to be really good, I still felt like I smelled of smoke when we left. We sat as close to the front door as possible to avoid the odor, but stale smoke still lingered. Probably will deter us from returning unfortunately. read more

My wife and I went in this place a few years and Walked out immediately bc we thought it was "too divey". What a mistake... This place is AWESOME. It may seem a bit divey when you first walk in, but the tv setup is actually probably one of the best I've seen in Jax. They have 6-7 large tvs that you can see at once over the bar. One of my pet peeves is when bars don't actively manage the sports being shown, especially on Saturday's when you have a lot of different events occurring at once. This bar does an outstanding job of playing all the games they can, and it is clear they will do whatever it takes to keep people happy. The service is outstanding. Very attentive and friendly, yet not overly so (no one likes it when a bartender won't stop talking to you). But.....the best part is the food. I was shocked at the quality. I won't even go into the burgers, because they are obviously well known throughout Jax for having great burgers. I will say, the wings were a great surprise. I expected to get the kind of wings most bars have, which they simply heat and serve. These were NOT that type. These wings were clearly made from scratch, and some of the best I've ever had.
