Since we're both foodies, we wanted to try all the things so she decided on the BBQ Chicken and the Kansas City "Meat Candy" Platter. She chose Mac & Cheese and Green Beans. I decided on the Brisket & Kansas City Sweet Pork Platter with Cole Slaw, Baked Beans and Potato Salad, Cornbread came with both. We also ordered the Smoked Chicken Salad and Banana Pudding. We decided to dine in and so we could enjoy our food while it was fresh. While we waited, we sampled the BBQ sauces at the table and the Mop sauce was phenomenal. It was sweet and tangy with a little bit of spice, it was great. The food was served pretty quickly but unfortunately, we didn't enjoy most of it. The BBQ Chicken was dry, the Meat Candy was hard, and the Brisket wasn't tender at all. The Cole Slaw tasted like shredded cabbage, nothing else, and the Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese were flavorless. I did enjoy the Kansas City Sweet Pork, especially with the Mop Sauce and the Baked Beans were pretty good. The Smoked Chicken Salad was just okay. The Banana Pudding was literally instant banana pudding with a few vanilla wafers, topped with whipped cream, it was very disappointing. I've been wanting to try Donnie's Barbecue for quite a while but after that experience, I probably won't be returning unfortunately.

The marinated and sauced up ribeye on the bulgogi fries was so friggin flavorful and the fries were oh so crispy. I don't want to talk about the burger, because if I do I might get emotional, GET THE BURGER smashed, burnt ends and still juicy topped with the bacon jam, the cheese, the fried onions no sauce needed it's perfect as is. I'm sorry I didn't take a photo of the burg, I was hungry, you'll have to trust it was very pretty to look at. The dumplings were the perfect side to contrast our fried heaven and the chili crisp was flavorful and electric. Anyways, can't wait to come back for bowls so we can hit up the rest of the menu.

Pork Belly - the buns were soft and pillowy. The belly was seasoned so good, tender and yummy! The best I've had!! Bulgogi Chicken bowl- chicken was well marinated that reminds me of like a Japanese BBQ soy sauce based. It had a nice cooked char to it. Chicken thighs were used making it tender. This was so YUM! Fries- were the crinkly ones salted nicely lol Customer Service- was the best!! Very friendly and kept you informed how much longer your food will be. I found Pitt County BBQ at the Bayside Harley Davidson dealer in Portsmouth. The smell of the awesome q from their smoker waffled through the 5 acre complex. Of course there was a line on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Lot gif folks out looking for new bikes and enjoying fantastic food truck barbecue. What immediately struck me was how clean the trailer was, like new! The orange color was striking as well and drew my attention from the road. I just had to try them out. Once at the window a female staff directed me to their menu and was kind enough to direct me to their best seller the pulled pork. I ordered a combo with sides of baked beans and macaroni & cheese. Also a bottle water. All transactions are automated and can apply tip. Prices were in line for a food truck. In no time my name was called with everything bagged up and plastic utensils. I popped the lid open to the wonderful aromas. The pulled pork sandwich was enormous, guessing a half pound of meat. It was two inches thick. A sweet in-house BBQ is in a container along with slaw. I set my sandwich up with a small amount of their sauce which is very thin and smelled yummy. The owner Wendell came out to say hello. They are a new truck that had operated in NC previously. The name Pitt County is derived from its namesake county that has a long history of award winning barbecue. That first bite of sandwich was heaven and I added more of the sauce. I decided to eat the slaw independently and just WOW on flavors popping out of the tiny cup. The beans were standard but good! The macaroni was prepared differently with the type of noodles used and offered plenty of cheese and nice flavor. However no wow factor but most certainly holds its own. If I had to do over I would have got slaw as a side. This is a must find truck folks. They began operations in 757 early this year and do catering as well. They also offer a few items of merchandise.
