I have honestly been contemplating to order a Perfectly Imperfect box for years now and I finally gave in during the pandemic! It might have been the best money I have spending during these unprecedented times. Since they were having a 50% off sale for new users, I thought it was a calling for me to order a box! The process was easy and by the following week, I received my first box! I was so excited to open and unfold the mystery of produce option, I couldn't help but share the good news with all my girl friends! All produce that came in the box looked pretty normal and there were hardly any imperfections to the produce. The two hardest items to decide how to cook/incorporate into my everyday meals was the head of red cabbage and a bag of baby radish. I was hoping that the PIP recipe unveiled on Friday would help me use the red cabbage or baby radish, but it had nothing to do with either veggie, which was perfectly fine. Thank goodness Google exists! The box that I got lasted me 3 weeks, with some meals getting takeout, so it would be hard for me to commit to doing this long term. It is definitely harder to go through groceries when I am only feeding myself, but I think this is a great option for families. Okay, let me first start off by saying that I appreciate this produce delivery service. It does save me time and money. However, it hasn't saved me from being really disappointed with my large mixed boxes lately. I understand that it's basically a mystery box every time I receive one. But, do I really need 2 pints of cherry tomatoes? No, one pint would have been fine. And while I appreciate a great big homegrown cauliflower, I'm paying for all of the waste that comes along with it. On more than one occasion, the boxes have been filled with excessive "filler" produce. They're notorious for stuffing 2 bags of apples, 3 cucumbers, 2 huge spaghetti squash and loads of oranges in the boxes lately. I get that they're busy and trying to get the weight up on the boxes they pack, but c'mon! This is really aggravating, because I'm trying to support a local business. But, I'm knocking my delivery down to once a month, then possibly not at all if this trend continues. read more

I am obsessed with Perfectly Imperfect Produce. Now that I'm doing it, I can't believe I haven't been doing it per as long as they have existed. It's honestly phenomenal. In the midst of the pandemic, I hear their subscribers have quadrupled, and I'm thrilled to see such a great charity initiative and service. In my house, we're all eating better with this regular delivery service of healthy food. Like clockwork, my small box of mixed fruits and veggies arrives every week at a reasonable price. The items are big, beautiful, diverse and would likely cost me double in price at the grocery store. Make no mistake, these are NOT ugly or weird produce selections. "Supermarkets reject fruits and veggies that are unique in size, shape or color to meet consumer demand for perfection. It's part of the reason our country throws away 40% of the food we produce, which ends up in landfills where it turns to methane -- a greenhouse gas 100 times more potent than carbon monoxide. When 21% of our water, 18% of our land and 10% of our energy is used to grow our country's food, that's an awful lot of resources to be wasting. Especially when 41 million Americans are food insecure." So may I get a potato shaped like a heart? Yes. But C'MON. How adorable is that? PIP reduces food waste and donates produce to local food pantries with every purchase. You can either choose to pick up your box or have it delivered directly. The delivery service is so reliable and I love that they send emails with delivery notifications. You can also skip weeks if you don't need it at that time, upgrade or downgrade. They have a super cute newsletter with recipes for that weeks saved produce. You cannot beat the mission and quality here. I keep telling everyone & their mom about this produce delivery service. On my first shipment, I only ordered the mini organic box. Just to see what they were all about. The online ordering was user friendly & readable (A+ in my book). I could pick my next delivery date & delivery frequency. I chose bi-weekly, I may change this down the road. In my account info, I was able to make a note to list any dietary info or requests for the packers. Also, able to add drop off information (front porch, back sold, etc). Guess what.. they actually listened! Brownie points again. I like how you can change the delivery frequency or box type/size whenever you want (unless that weeks shipment is already scheduled, then you'd have to wait). I got quite a bit in the mini box BUT I decided to upgrade my box size to the large for future orders. Today it arrived & it was ginormous! I didn't expect so many items. The variety was great as well. My husband & I do have two kids, so I suppose I could share the produce with them now. Sometimes the items have blemishes or minor discoloration. But let me tell you, they're really great quality & tasty nonetheless. Some of the produce I received has been huge. Zucchini the size of my forearms, tomatoes the size of my 2yr olds head, not to mention the football spaghetti squash & basketball watermelon lol. I love the values that this company has. Saving food that normally be tossed, helping the local farms & people. They're interactive on social media & post easy recipes you can follow with the items received in your box. The only thing I wish they had was a referral bonus link for subscribers. I would have so many points banked! :) It's amazing, sometimes I get items I never would've picked up in the grocery store. Cons, selection of organic fresh food is limited some produce is very small [hence very over priced]. I became discouraged with the lack of inexpensive organic fresh food. read more

We have been doing PIP for a while now and it is an overall wonderful idea. This company saves food that would otherwise be thrown away because it may look different. Not the perfect looking apple But let me tell you, it tastes like a perfect apple!! From the conservation side of saving this food, to the very reasonable price to the doorstep delivery. What else can you ask for? Fresh fruits and veggies right to your door that taste great!!! Also you may try things you may not have ever bought before and find a new dish that you love. I ordered for the first time. I was shocked at how great the produce was in my box. I haven't had Kiwi in forever and was thrilled to have 3! Everything was incredibly fresh. I only received 1 of the 2 boxes I ordered. I sent an email and they took care of it right away- I will have the second box tonight. I am so impressed I am going to subscribe. I have been using this service for a while, and the selection has expanded since I first signed up two years ago and the food is quite good. However, they have become increasingly unreliable. Like today, the delivery just didn't come. Even though it was scheduled and no mention of a delay or anything. This has been happening the past few months--no delivery or a box missing. They are also unable to redeliver. Meaning, the box doesn't come and they can't come the next day. One time they didn't drop off a second box and the truck couldn't even come back to my house. The customer service rep gives you the company script, the condescending apology and how they're trying to do better and "they'll talk to the driver." I told the last one to please stop, that nothing has been done to improve service and no one is talking to the driver. They don't tell you anything because they can't go off script, just the idiotic apology and wow--maybe you get a $25 discount on the next order. Last week when my box also didn't come--and this was after several days of being told it was delayed but they never bothered to tell me it was cancelled until I contacted them (great customer service) she told me that of course I wasn't going to be charged. I told her that I wasn't expecting to pay for a box I didn't get and stop making it sound like they were doing me a favor and being generous. That must've stunned her a moment, because then she continued with the nonsense. So while I like the food, I really can't give more than two stars because they are unreliable, and customer service is beyond ridiculous. I am going to see if there is someone else I can talk to--I would like someone to hear my complaints and maybe see if this can be improved before I end my service with them. We have been using Perfectly Imperfect for a couple months. In general this is a nice service; however I question the cost-savings aspect because delivery fees are sort of high in our area. The short of this is that it is worth a try to see if it works for you. Below is a breakout of what I see as pros and cons to justify the four stars: Pros: - Food delivery can be scheduled as weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc. This is a nice way to balance too much vs not enough delivery. - Various options exist for boxes in both size and contents. The options are nice to change up delivery a little. - We have found a few new recipes and things to try based on contents in the box. There isn't anything we have never encountered, just some items we would not normally buy. - Account management is nice with the online interface. This includes selecting future deliveries to skip (e.g. if you are on travel one week you can plan ahead to skip that delivery), changing your order size, number of boxes, etc. Cons: - We have found fruit generally arrives ripe and ready to eat. Leaving fruit out a few days, and it turns mushy and starts molding. Our current change is to try a veggie-only box. - Variations in produce size can introduce challenges if you have a recipe calling for exact amounts. In one box we had a bunch of potatoes that were almost like a bag of marbles; the next box we received had potatoes nearly the size of a football. This isn't a deal-breaker, just a con if you are planning meals around box contents. - Delivery is expensive outside the core service area. We pay nearly as much for the delivery as we do for the box :-( - To add to delivery, we have had rainy days where the delivery driver doesn't come all the way to our overhang and leaves the box in the rain. In one instance we had to take a bag out and pick up the soggy box pieces. All-in-all I recommend trying the service at least once. For us, we have continued to receive them as it is pushing us to eat fresh produce more often. However I suspect the appeal will vary greatly depending on your household needs. read more

Let me start with the positive: I love the concept. Fresh produce being delivered to my front door is also a huge convenience. So far, the quality of the produce I've received has been good. Win-win. However, their customer service leaves something to be desired. I was completely unaware that they were not delivering boxes ordered prior to Thanksgiving week during the week after Thanksgiving. They were closed during Thanksgiving week and not doing deliveries, which I totally understand. I had placed an order a few days before the holiday, expecting it to be delivered the week AFTER the holiday. When I never got my order, I politely reached out to their customer service email account to inquire about the status, and I received a very curt response. They said they sent "several emails to customers" (which I never got) telling them to cancel any orders placed during the holiday week - otherwise, they would still be charged (for an order they'll never receive) and their produce boxes would be donated. Again, great idea in theory to donate food to charity, but why is it MY problem to cancel my own order? Seems like a flaw in their ordering system. If your business is going to be closed for the week, your online system should not permit customers to place, and pay for, an order that week. I also wasn't thrilled with the company's response to my inquiry - even though they said they would issue a refund, they acted like I was inconveniencing them. As a customer trying to support a local business, being treated this way doesn't leave me with a great feeling about supporting this business in the future. read more

We have been "trying" your weekly delivery service for about 3 weeks now. Each week it has gotten worse, the items delivered are either expired or expire within a day or two of delivery. The majority of our Friday box went straight to the trash can. We are vegan and all we eat are fruits and vegetables and thought this we would be a great solution, but we were definitely wrong. read more

Scam alert! Me and my wife decided to try this company to save some money and keep food waste down. So we ordered a box. What we found was a company wanting to scam people out of money by promising to lower food waste. They charge 3x+ as much as walmart for produce that loooks like it was bought FROM walmart.... There is nothing "imperfect" to be seen. Want nice clean produce? Support your local farmers market or something else just avoid this company. read more

I thought that we would try this service to save money and also help the planet. It did not start out on the right foot because the delivery was delayed. I got an email that said this and it also said they would waive the delivery fee. However, there was a promotion that my delivery fee was waived already so it really didn't make a difference. Then when I got the Box the most delicate fruits and vegetables, such as kiwi and tomatoes, were on the bottom, and heavier fruits and vegetables were on the top. So in other words, I got no edible kiwis and had some tomato soup. The other vegetables were very pretty and robust, so I figured I would try the service again but because unfortunately we don't get to eat too much at home because of work schedules, I worried that some of the food would still go to waste. I went to the website to change my delivery to every other week and wanted to skip the current week. After I do this, I get a notification of a credit card purchase, and it's for Imperfect Foods. I had skipped the order in plenty of time. Unless this is resolved, I will be cancelling the service and asking for a refund. read more

Although they will credit for foods not received, they fail to understand needs. I am 75 yo cancer survivor who cannot get to store. I order from imperfect foods and rely on them for my groceries. They leave vital food off my order which I counted on. This leaves me without food. It is frustrating and makes it impossible to trust my orders will be fulfilled. read more
