Does fresh fork market grow organic?

Well, Fresh Fork is not the primary grower of the products sold. Rather, they are a program that connects individuals with local growers, giving access to a variety of locally grown foods through one single subscription program. That being said,… Read more

And by price too. The outdoor stalls are being refurbished, and the section that is complete is just like the historic stalls but much nicer, brand new, clean. Outdoors is the produce. Inside is all the rest - meat, cheese, baked goods, spices, coffee, international foods...the list goes on and on. The ceiling is like an old train station , but purpose built in 1912 to be a bad*ss market. Gorgeous. About 130ish stalls. Cafe/bistro in ine corner, Johnny's hot dog joint in another. Kate's Fish, Peroigi Palace, Frank's Brats, Jim's Meats, Wiencek Poultry, Czuchraj Meats...i could go on... Get a buttermilk at Annemaries - salt and pepper on top is how my Dad did it. That tradition will stay with me forever. Grab a smokie at Czuchraj and stroll the stalls, get your shopping done, or just relax the day away. Pretty good. But you gotta do the work and hit the code and go thru the process. The WSM right now is under construction. So the produce side is smaller and off to the side not the main hall. Then you go out and walk around the sidewalk off Lorain to get to the meat side. Produce side is to the left. Smaller space but they have it organized better. Everyone is selling the same stuff and prices are fairly similar for each stall. But it is brighter and well laid out. I guess you can go by who looks the most trustworthy to who you buy from. Just keep an eye out to what you buy and make sure it's what you get. That was the old market. Hopefully it's better now. TBH I did not buy any veggies or fruit. Meat side is abundant with meat, fish, pastry, sauces, cheese and other vendors. You can find a deal. We got 3 pounds of ground meat for $18. Sunday is an off day some vendors are off so not all the stalls are filled. But more than enough. We also went to Christopher the bread guy for our favorite bread. So good! We got the rustic Italian small loaf and they sliced it. Good sandwiches this week for lunch. But they have a million other options too. This is a nice little treasure and it's worth the time and effort to go here. Grab lunch and hang out on W25th it's fun and worth the visit.

Found my new produce stand at the WSM--done and done…read more I'm a CSA gal, Fresh Fork to be exact, but sometimes you just need some extra ingredients and that's where Rooted In Cleveland comes in. Here there is no question where your produce is coming from--most likely it's from across the street at Ohio City Farm! Yep: the farm that helps refugees find work and teaches them to farm to make money (Refugee Responce)... the farm space that helps people in need find fresh produce while also supplying local restaurants in Ohio City with tons of homegrown goodies. That farm! The stand has pretty much all seasonal items, but when I stopped by last week they had everything I was looking for. Herbs, root veggies, tomatoes, greens--yum! I'm not sure what the stand will look like in the winter months, but I'm sure they'll have something out there that's delicious. Their FB page says it best, "We're a seasonally and sustainably-oriented produce stand at the West Side Market providing local and organically-minded specialty produce." Prices were way cheaper than Dave's Supermarket and pretty on point with the rest of the stands. But what really stands out? No yelling or selling! That's right--no one at the stand will try to sell you or trick you into buying overly ripened produce they don't let you see first before they throw in a bag. In general, just picture this: You're fighting your way through the produce wing at WSM on a Saturday afternoon, then you turn the corner to suddenly find a peaceful place where you can take a breath of fresh air and buy bad ass local produce. Yes, that was a bit of a run-on, but you get the point. Hint: It's near the Ohio City Blooms stand.

I think the advantage to this CSA is you can pick your weeks and only need to order a week in advance. This is all online ordering and the system is sometimes goofy. I couldn't figure out my username and it turned out I was missing a capital letter. But, this was solved as the administrator was able to figure out what I did :-) Otherwise, I pick mine up in Euclid, but there are many locations all over the Cleveland metro area. It helps to expose you to new veggies (never tried kolrobi until this) and they are high quality and fresh. Some are organic or use organic practices (it is extremely expensive for a family farm to have that label). The facilitator is super nice and often brings extra fruit to sell with your pick up. They even were able to get me a pumpkin for me to purchase. Another nice thing is they subsidize the cost for people who are 200% the FPL (which to put in perspective is people who wouldn't quality for food assistance). I have told many of my friends about this because it is truly a fantastic program.

I love city fresh. Where else can you get a big bag of locally grown produce for fifteen bucks?…read more Or the family size for $28? City Fresh has expanded their locations so they now have pick-up sites all over lorain and cuyahoga county. Last weeks share bag had acorn squash, peaches, green and red peppers, cilantro, corn, egg plant, carrots, lettuce and apples. As the weather changes they expect to see more squash, pumpkins and apples. Seriously, if you are big into supporting local, non-profit businesses and receiving amazing fresh local fruits and veggies then there really is nothing better than city fresh. It's pretty easy to sign up. You just have to go to one of the locations to sign up for the following week.

We had just come from the Yelpies (Yelp Awards) and I was dropping her off at her apartment but then I saw this market on the way so I stopped in. I had been meaning to visit Fairfax Market for a long time now so I'm glad that I finally got to visit. FOOD -- This is a huge grocery store with lots of food and drink options to choose from, such as snacks, meats (chicken, beef, fish), bread, milk, etc. I heard that they even have cooking demonstrations too. What I bought for all under $11 -- a big bunch of bok choy, 2 small stalks of broccoli, a small Arm and Hammer brand toothpaste, bananas, and 2 packages of tea biscuits. The bok choy was delicious that just recently, in April 2026, I drove by Fairfax and almost thought of going in to buy bok choy but I had a long day and I was too tired to stop. SERVICE -- My friend and I were greeted upon walking inside by a friendly security guard. Checking-out was easy and quick.
