I am just getting into some more serious riding, so I decided to check around. After about a week's worth of research, Performance Bicycles looked like the best option available (especially for Fuji bikes). So I drove the 2 hours from Manhattan to buy my bike here, and I don't regret it for a second. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and I was given advice both by the sales staff and mechanics. They took the time to make sure I not only understood the pros and cons of various bikes/models but also the proper maintenance necessary to minimize the professional maintenance I'd need in the future. On top of amazing service, they offered such a good price that I questioned if I was perhaps buying a stolen bike. I kid you not when I say that the bike I bought was selling for $300 more in Manhattan at every shop I talked to. And did I mention that most of the accessory gear I bought was on sale for about 20-30% off. Add to that the fact that the shop has a 100% satisfaction guarantee with no time limit and you have one of the best buying experiences I've ever had in my life. Like all bike shops they only carry a handful of brands, but they have a ton of models, and again if you are looking at Fuji bikes, end your search here. It's been over a year since my last review of Performance Bike shop at this location. All I have to say is I am still 100% satisfied with the work they've done on my Fuji Altamira 2.0 LE and customer service received. I've recently purchased set of full carbon wheels 700c on Amazon, SRAM 10 speed red Shimano cassette and Michelin Pro4 Comp tires to upgrade factory components on my Fuji. Although I've managed to install the cassette and tires on my own, I didn't feel comfortable readjusting the limits on my Ultegra derailleur set screws especially need bike performing top shape for Sunday's Schuykill 60 mile ride with Philly Bike Club. Because my original cassette were Shimano SDi and in purchasing the SRAM PD-1070, I didn't realize cog offsets were different and adjustment were needed on derailleur hi/lo limits. I am by no means expert tweaking bikes so I brought it in to have it looked at. Paul met me up front and took my bike back put on stand... As he was tweaking my derailleur, I've said can you install these carbon brakes that came with wheel. No problem he said but then looked at my brake sets, I had TekPro that came with my bike. He said nope I can't mount these as different type cartridge. Then he pulled out these new Ultegra BP6800 and recommended that I upgrade. The price was very reasonable to EBay or Amazon. I said go ahead and having my service plan really help some discount labor. New brake caliper set including install $119.00... Again very reasonable considering labor included. So left bike overnight as I was late coming into shop. Next day, I was hoping that Justin, technician that does excellent work would be in but ended up getting Ryan to work on my bike. Tell you what, he was very professional and took time to answer my questions and concerns. Took the bike back for spin and everything was great... Yeah I did feel difference with new BP6800 as appose to TekPro. On the carbon frame surface, it wasn't immediate stoppage but it was firm. All in all, request for either Justin or Ryan and you'll be happy as I am. They were very courteous and understand that I am no expert and learn something while watching them work on my bike. No complaints and I'll be back again for future upgrades if I can't handle it. read more

Bunch of crooks. They ripped me off. Paid for a rewards program. Bought a bike and plenty of other stuff. I had $95 in points went out of my way to their store to use them. Apparently my membership didn't "auto-renew" I was never contacted at all and got an email in October to use the points that DIDN'T say they were expiring. I get there and no points to use, call and basically am told I am beat, email and basically get the run around. I hope they go out of business. read more

Spent $500 on my sons bicycle there. Few years later they want me to pay to replace my sons faulty hydraulic brakes front and back. The cheapest option was cable brakes that would cost ONLY $260! That wouldn't even get the bicycle back to the factory settings of hydraulic brakes. That would be almost the cost of the original bike! What? Just for brakes! This is after I was promised 20% discount on bicycles to upgrade my children as they out grow their bicycles. Then was told recently they did away with that program! No wonder they are going out of business! read more

I met one terrific sales person and that was it. Have been in that store 3 times and it is worse than pulling teeth to get help. I understand busy. I worked retail at one time. When the customer you were helping is done or has left you go find another... You dont find your buddies at the kiosk and start chatting. I won't be back. Over the last several years I stopped in here from time to time. Probably 10-12 visits total for various odd-ends. Never once did I feel welcomed by the staff. A few times I was treated outright rudely, and I sill went back. The overall feel of the staff's behavior and morale is that of the manager being away on vacation for a long, long time. Staff pointing fingers across the store saying, "that's not my department." I once got a price from a guy at the service counter in the back for a parts that cost about $100. It took the poor guy forever to find the price, and when he did he wrote me a slip with the part number/sku, whatever, and the price. When I got up to the front to pay the total came out to about $35 more than what I was given. When I questioned the cashier, I was told that "the guy in the back doesn't know his stuff." It was a while ago, and that's not exactly the words he used, but you get the point. I asked for a manager, and to my surprise, the cashier guy with ZERO people skills tells me that he is the man in charge. After some back and forth, he agreed to sell me the part at the original quoted price, but he said (at least 3 times) that if it's not the right part I can't return it because he's giving it away. When I pulled up the part online to show him I could have it for $30 cheaper than what he can barely sell it to me for, he just mumbled and grumbled. So that's it. There are plenty of bike shops in the LV. All of them are much better than this place and their horrible service and attitudes. When a place that has a manager/managers that are downright hostile to customers, you can imagine how poorly their employees are treated. The place is a textbook example. read more

Do NOT take your bike to these incompetent liers! So far they have had my bike 22 days for a cable and front derailuer. Told parts not oredered, part will be in this afternoon (wasn't) tires will be in (didn't order tires look again. Just told to bad part comining through Miami. Spoke to Manager Paul who said parts not here nothing you can do about it. Totally uncaring. Go to a real bike shop this one is terrible! read more

I was shopping for a bike and found this store to be the only one open on Sunday if the 3 recommended in our area. I explained that it was the first stop I'd made yet they still took the time I needed to explain everything along with their added programs for maintenance, etc. they did say the current sale price probably wouldn't be good the next day. I had them write all the info down for me since I am a bike novice. The next day I visited the other 2 shops. 1 made me wait and wait, the other had a large dog that turned out to be friendly but it scared me at first. Prices were way higher at both shops so I went back to Performance. I told them I wanted the same price as the day before. The first guy said he didn't think he could do that but immediately an older guy came over and said no problem. The 1 I wanted had sold so I ordered mine. Will go there for equipment to as they are very helpful without being pushy. read more

Bought a bike from manager Greg during January 2011. Since that time have been back twice for free tune-ups from the highly competant Brian. Brian even tells you what he is doing and gives friendly tips while working. Well worth the 95 mile drive from New Jersey. read more

This store and organization has no clue what customer service is. I was also ignored when I stopped in to pick up my bike. I purchased the Buyer's Club which I was told would be activated in 24 hours by the store manager. Nearly two weeks later and three calls to their help desk it still doesn't work. The help desk can't/won't refund me so I need to go back to the disinterested and incompetent staff at the store. I sadly regret ever purchasing the bike here and I have made my last purchase from Performance. read more

I have shopped the Performance website for years and didn't even know they had a B&M location. I ordered a mountain bike at Performance Bicycles online and had it delivered to the nearest store for assembly and pick up. It was a bike that they do not carry at their retail locations. Why did I drive 1 1/2 hours from NJ to buy a bike? Well, I called up the store prior to making the purchase to inquire about sizing on the bike I was looking to buy. Besides giving me advise on what size to buy, the staff member also said that if the bike turns out to be the wrong size, they would order the other size for me. And if I am not happy with the bike, I did not have to take the bike and they would refund my money. Having the ability to test out the bike before making the purchase was key for me considering how much money I was spending. My local bike shop would order the bike for me but I would not be able to get a refund if the bike was the wrong fit for me since they had special ordered it. When I went to the store for pickup, I was impressed by the size and variety of bikes/accessories they had. I had never been in a bike shop so large. I went to the back shop area and was immediately helped by a man(forgive me for forgetting everyone's name) at the counter. When I gave him my name, he instantly recognized me as the guy he had talked to about the sizing of the bike. He brought out my new baby and even introduced me to the mechanic who put the bike together for me. We talked bikes for a while as he put my pedals on and then let me take a test spin around the building. After getting my seal of approval, he sent the bike back to the another mechanic to do a once over to ensure the bike was dialed in properly (it seems that all bikes are checked by another mechanic other than the one that built it which I thought was amazing). Filled out the final paperwork and off I went. While I was there I think I was approached by just about every staff member at some point offering to assist me or talk about the bike I picked up (it was a slow Saturday afternoon so not many people in the store). What a great experience I had and I would highly recommend this store to everyone. read more

The now Store Manager Jesse who used to be the Sales Manager gives me an attitude/ cold shoulder every time I'm in the store, like he has something against me. I used to work for the company and i'd agree that they have great products and most of the staff are wonderful. If anyone has a right to be angry thatd be me. Considering the previous store manager Paul, lied to me for months about becoming ops manager, even had the old mechanic Jim fired over nothing. I deserve to be treated like a customer and welcomed into this establishment for my cycling or excercise needs. I guess its a good thing i didnt tell Beth what really went down behind closed doors. I chose to leave the way i did because i was broken and cooked not be fixed after what Paul did. I have no animosity towards anyone that currently or previously worked their. I just want the same rights as all the other patrons that walk through the door. Other than that, if you have cycling needs this is the place to go. Jesse runs it well and makes sure every customer leaves happy. He's a good man and has amazing staff under his lead, just wish he'd let go of a past that he shouldnt be mad at me for. Id love to come in and not be rushed out. Maybe I'd actually purchase a bike for me and my wife. read more

Let me tell you a little story about performance bicycle. I bought hybrid from them for use on the trail and to pull my toddler in the back in the trailer. I took the bike out a few times, tried to put the trailer on and the piece wouldn't fit. I looked at some different options and saw on their website that they would take the bike back. First I decided to take it in and ask the techs if they can do anything to get the trailer piece to fit, they could not, and one of the techs just told me "just return the bike, it's no big deal." So I take it upfront and tell them I would like to return the bike and I immediately get attitude from the front cashier employee and his boss. I was told that they'll take the bike back but they really shouldn't, and I should tell with it. It was intense as they both stared me down, it was actually pretty comical looking back. All I wanted was to return it for another bike. They eventually took my bike to the back and I never saw it again, they returned the bike and I purchased a new one (more expensive), and some other accessories like a new helmet and new bike shoes (well over $150 extra plus the bike.) I paid and realized that I put pedal cages and water bottle holders on my old bike, I asked the cashier if I can have them back off the bike and his response was "oh, i don't know" and that was that. I contact "customer support" and made a complaint, was told the district manager would contact me, never did. I emailed them again, was told the same thing, and nothing. This was a few months ago and i'm still pretty upset every time i'm in this shopping center. read more
