This is the best muffler shop I have ever been to! I came in based on the recommendation from Discount Tire, where I just had a tune-up and a catalytic converter replacement after it got stolen. I was looking for a muffler shop to make a custom shield for me, and Gary was fast, reasonable, and friendly. He offered me a cup of Armenian coffee during my consultation, and he was very thorough in the actual service. The shield was perfectly done, and he also replaced my alternator, which was nearing the end of its life, shortly afterwards. He even replaced the battery in my key fob for me as a courtesy. After two catalytic converter thefts, Gary understood my concerns regarding my catalytic converter theft protection shield and the issue I was having in getting a smog certification for my Honda Element. He removed the old shield from the catalytic converter which did not have a window and I was able to immediately get a smog certification from Allstar Smog Repair directly across from Performance Muffler. After the smog check was completed, Gary expertly installed a new anti-theft protection shield onto the catalytic converter underneath my Honda Element, which now has a window so I won't need to have the shield removed each year when I need to get a smog certification for my Element. If you need any work done bring your car here to Gary. I needed 2 extra resonators added to my aftermarket exhaust that already has 2 resonators. I have a 18' q60 btw.. I called a few places some gave me a ridiculous price other places told me I needed to bring the car in and one didn't have time till next week. I called the shop after hours and he returned my call within a minute he had a spot the next day. I told him my situation he understood exactly what I wanted done (no doubt from years of experience) I came in on Saturday we both talked about a couple different spots and I asked his opinion and he listened to what I wanted done also. I called Darry and told him I had a modified Honda Fit that I would like to make quieter. I came here after reading the great reviews, as my car was acting up and had a strong exhaust smell. After explaining my car issues to a friend who knows about cars, he suggested someone who specialized in mufflers. Shame on me for having too much trust in someone based simply on their great Yelp reviews. I paid master mechanic prices to get services not promised. There was a heavy exhaust fumes coming from my car and when I dropped the car off it was one of the aspects I told him about. He called me a few hours later telling me I had a cracked manifold and quoted me a price, assuring me that my car should be in great shape after that. Though I felt the price seemed high, I agreed despite also my second red flag asking if I could pay in cash. Hmmm... ok I thought well if this fixes my car great. I picked up the car as it sounded a lot better than when I dropped it off, thus I was like great it's back in business. Only for it to stall on me down the street as I was getting gas. No big deal I thought, after all it was on empty and perhaps that's all it needed. Nope, check engine comes back on and then the car starts to jerk. I took it in the next day and he drives it around for a bit, pops the hood and finds that one of the hoses are broken. He replaces it at no extra cost and then says we should be good to go. Drove it off again and well again have issues and check engine light comes on. Then the exhaust smell is back. I take it in the next day, he explains that these issues that are coming up aren't his field of expertise and that should be done by someone else. Wait so I pay $750 (which I was told later I overpaid) for something that didn't even fix the reason I brought it in. Buyer beware. I always feel a man's reputation speaks highly of him, however disappointed that trust was taken advantage of by being overcharged and then told the problem was out of his specialty. He should have been upfront about that aspect in the beginning. read more
