I had called and evaluated 15 to 20 periodontists when searching for one to do 2 separate gum grafts on both my upper and lower jaw. Dr. Strauss conducts himself very professionally, his office is nice, clean and stylish with old artifacts, and he put that extra effort for me when explaining the surgery process in full detail, before and during the surgery itself, which I required. Some highlights: - I showed up to my appointment on time once and the whole building was emptied out over a fire alarm. I had a quick chat with some of the staff outside, and everyone was friendly. We all go back inside, the receptionist (who I had JUST been talking to outside) tells me I'm 20 minutes late and they can't see me. I honestly thought she was joking. She pretended to have no recollection of the fire alarm, the conversation we'd had 5 minutes ago or the fact that I was with THE ENTIRE STAFF outside just a few minutes ago. Tried appealing to reason and the entire desk staff doubled down that I was late and there was nothing they could do, and I'd be charged for the appointment. The hygienist finally stepped in and sorted it out. - My wife went to see Dr Berik who used her shot at a captive audience (a patient in her chair) to go on and on about politics and MAGA nonsense. I've had teeth for a long time now and I've never had a doctor with so little common sense as to not turn a dental appointment into a podcast. - Finally had enough billing and scheduling issues that I found a new dentist. Newton Dental didn't disappoint. They received multiple requests from both myself and my new dentist to release my records and ignored all of them. They lied over and over again that they would send them in a move that I have to assume was retaliation for leaving. After I returned, additional imaging was done by another assistant, which again took a long time and was uncomfortable because she took so many tries. While the dentist apologized and explained new patients usually take longer, it overall wasn't very reassuring. The whole experience felt so poorly managed. As I'm leaving the administrative assistance proceed to berate me about the fact that I am now delaying my care but they would be glad to accommodate me when I experience an emergency which is highly likely now. I walked out feeling rather manipulated, insulted and frustrated to have to tolerate such unprofessionalism and disrespectful behaviour just to get basic care. I found Dr. Goldberg, and made a consultation appointment with him. He took X-rays, examined my teeth, and said one of your tooth definitely needs root canal but the other one does not for now. Then he thoroughly explained what was going on with the tooth nerves inside my gum, why the tooth needed root canal and how the root canal could save my tooth. Dr. Goldberg's explanations were very convincing. Although very much scared of root canal procedure, I decided to go for it. The root canal treatment was completed in 2 sessions each 1.5 hours long (total of 3 hours). I found Dr, Goldberg kind, nice, considerate, caring, experienced and professional in his job. He never was in a rush. He always had time for my questions, and patiently addressed all my concerns and questions. He gave me his email address, his cellphone number and work number, and said feel free to call any time if you have any questions or concerns. During the root canal procedure, he checked on me several times to be sure that I was comfortable and was feeling no pain. Sometimes he made funny conversations to distract my thoughts from things were going on inside my mouth. After Dr. Goldberg got the root canal treatment done, I was so happy and satisfied that I hugged him. :) Two days later, he called me to follow up. What else could I want from a doctor?
