This place used to be an actual dentist office. A few years ago there was definitely some kind of…read morechange in management and it got wildly hostile and adversarial to their patients overnight. Some highlights: - I showed up to my appointment on time once and the whole building was emptied out over a fire alarm. I had a quick chat with some of the staff outside, and everyone was friendly. We all go back inside, the receptionist (who I had JUST been talking to outside) tells me I'm 20 minutes late and they can't see me. I honestly thought she was joking. She pretended to have no recollection of the fire alarm, the conversation we'd had 5 minutes ago or the fact that I was with THE ENTIRE STAFF outside just a few minutes ago. Tried appealing to reason and the entire desk staff doubled down that I was late and there was nothing they could do, and I'd be charged for the appointment. The hygienist finally stepped in and sorted it out. - My wife went to see Dr Berik who used her shot at a captive audience (a patient in her chair) to go on and on about politics and MAGA nonsense. I've had teeth for a long time now and I've never had a doctor with so little common sense as to not turn a dental appointment into a podcast. - Finally had enough billing and scheduling issues that I found a new dentist. Newton Dental didn't disappoint. They received multiple requests from both myself and my new dentist to release my records and ignored all of them. They lied over and over again that they would send them in a move that I have to assume was retaliation for leaving. I also assume paying to delete bad reviews stopped being equitable once they started racking up enough of them.

During the cleaning, the hygienist was quite rough and I was poked several times, which hurt. The appointment also ran much longer than expected, so my parking expired and I had to leave to move my car, and overall the visit took so long that I missed lunch and was extremely hungry by the end. After I returned, additional imaging was done by another assistant, which again took a long time and was uncomfortable because she took so many tries. While the dentist apologized and explained new patients usually take longer, it overall wasn't very reassuring. The whole experience felt so poorly managed. I left feeling sore, hungry, and stressed, and came home in tears. Because of this experience, I just can't return.

The manager needs to really apologize to all patients who received this kind of unpleasant email or text message as this is really unprofessional and totally unacceptable! After all, there are at least 30 other dental offices in the areas near by Newton Corner, Watertown, Brighton and Waltham. This kind of treatment of the patients would completely drive them away! Unfortunately I received notice he had to evacuate this leased space immediately because of property owner lease termination so he no longer works in this office since end of February 2019. It was very unfortunate circumstances when he sent me the email. I never received any follow up anyway of whether he secured a new office space so I changed Dental practices. Shame. He was relatively accommodating for first thing in the morning appointments for me before some medical issues. There were a few times where he emailed me to adjust the time or date of my cleaning/exam. The appointments were also always so fast! Which makes a generally unpleasant experience more bearable. Now that I've gone to another practice that measures my gum line levels, I'm not sure if his were as thorough. Hope that he is doing well and continues to provide patients with dental care.
