Perkins is a big chain restaurant with reliable options. No matter who's with you, they will find something on the menu that they'll like. The choices are many and the food has always been good. Many Seniors, the 55 and older crowd, go for their special Sr. Menu that has quite a few choices of both breakfast and lunch and the prices are great. Perkins is usually the place you go when you need a safe option that almost everyone can find something to eat at. That's why we were there on a Sunday night before a long drive home. Location has plenty of parking and the interior is nice enough. The menu is what you find at every Perkins: Ok food, good pie, but this one had something extra - Great service. Our waiter was on his game the entire visit. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the Turkey dinner which was fine as a meal. The Cherry pie I had for desert was good. My friend's sandwich and salad were also fine. Overall, this is an excellent example of an average Perkins, but the great service we had made it a good experience. read more

A gang of us stopped in for breakfast at this Perkins location. Parking was adequate, even with many patrons. We were seated quickly and our wait staff member (Michele) did a fabulous job of getting all our orders straight with no errors (I left an extra tip for extra effort). Food quality and quantity was very good and generous. The interior is a bit dated, and the entrance area is a bit cramped, so at some point a refresh is in order. Overall, a perfectly fine experience for this type of dining at all hours and would give a recommendation to stop in for a meal. PS: The pies are really good we were told, but we had big breakfast meals so maybe another time we will have a slice. read more

All entries I have eaten so far were terrific! Service always friendly, all servers offer suggestions and add on's, meals delivered hot and fast. Entire party receive hot food at same time. We eat at this Perkins probably more frequently than anywhere else. The service is always great and the food is good. I feel like we get a good value for what spend especially if you use the coupons they regularly email. Always tip the waiter/waitress based on the total before discount though! read more

I started by ordering online for a curbside pick up. Some food was hot and some was not, but I was also running about 5 minute late for picking up my food. Minus that little detail, the service was friendly and quick. I plan to come back here again when given the chance because we also got a lot of food for a good price. read more

I came here today with my sister and friend. We tried some of the menu. My friend loved the pancakes, but they weren't for me. The eggs and bacon were cooked perfect. The service was really good and fast. The menu confused my friend a little, and the waiter, chad, was so kind and helped us figure out what we wanted. We were so stuffed after! I went here during the COVID foolishness. The people here were accommodating. They didn't just on me for not wearing a mask although the staff all wore masks. The proportions were generous. The food was good. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. Good place to eat. read more

I wanted to love Perkins! The only breakfast place in Altoona where I found real cheese available for omelettes. I got an omelette with ham, mushroom, and swiss cheese. It was a great omelette, but the smallest and most expensive in Altoona. The ham and mushroom is sauteed well before making the omelette, which is great. Loved the swiss cheese and plenty of it. It was genuinely half the size of others! Coffee was also a bit weak. I see lots of potential with the quality ingredients, but quantity and value were lacking for me. I have been to this restaurant several times since August. My meal was good, but the service was below average. The restaurant was not busy as I was one of 3 tables occupied. The waitress took my drink order, but it took her 3 or 4 mins to bring it back. After I finished my meal, I waited for at least 10 mins. for my check. When the waitress came to my table she acted very surprised and asked "Were you waiting all this time for your check?". I had planned on getting dessert, but I would have declined if the waitress had asked because it took so long for her return after I finished my entree. read more

Everytime we are out of Pittsburgh, we always eat at Perkins,it's our favorite place to eat. This weekend's roadtrip started by dining in Altoona and Perkins was always in our itinerary. When we got there, we were greeted by the cashier that told us someone will be with us shortly and shortly thereafter, this nice guy asked us if we wanted a table or a booth which was nice cos other restaurants will just direct you to their preference. So let's go to the food, i ordered the 55 plus food cos i didnt know it was a menu for 55 plus customers,anyway our waiter Brett let me order it anyway, i got 2 pcs of cajun seasoned tilapia with a sides of pilaf rice and fruits, my husband ordered the breakfast menu, it was 2pcs of buscuits with chicken tender inside sides of fries and bacon and egg, a vanilla shake and a perky bear pancake for my daughter for only 29 some change. The experience was great and our server Brett was awesome and the food was the best!!!! We wont be able to come back to this location anytime soon but hope this review helps other yelpers! HAIR IN OUR FOOD! Disgusting. We were so excited to go out for breakfast and then we found a black hair in our food. Neither my fiancé or I have black hair. That wasn't what made me want to write this review because it happens even if it is nasty, but the waitress and manager were absolutely nasty to us. They were so rude and didn't want to take off the whole meal even though I didn't touch any of it. They gave us a hard time about food I didn't even eat. Then when we were asked by the cashier how our meals were, I said not that great we found a hair in it, he goes "oh" and that's it. No sorry, no nothing. I will never be back and don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Everywhere I go they say cream pie when its gross meringue....meringue and cream are two totally different things! But Perkins is cream and its a rich delicious cream!! I normally love Perkins. The one near my house nails it almost every time. I have been staying in Altoona for 3 weeks and have visited 3 times. Each time hoping it would be better than the last. My husband and I stopped in for a quick breakfast over the weekend. Our server was very friendly and attentive, always making sure our drinks were filled. I order the pumpkin oatmeal pancakes with a side of fruit and my husband ordered blueberry pancakes topped with bananas with a side of eggs and Canadian bacon. Disgusted. The bathrooms were so filthy I didn't even change my baby's diaper because the changing station had feces on it. We had to scrub the table with wipes and the high chair was sticky. If thats what the public saw, then it makes me wonder what the condition of the kitchen is. Our pancakes were flat and the strawberries were freezer burnt and over microwaved...everything was gross. NEVER will we ever consider returning. We really wanted to like it too. One-star is generous. I gave it one because the people were nice. read more

We come here for breakfast EVERYTIME and EVERYDAY we are up in Johnstown. I usualy get the eggs benedict which is always good. The muffins are FANTASTIC! My favorite is the banana nut muffin. read more
