If you follow my reviews, you know I'm a fan of old-school diners, the classics, and honest home-cooked food. Summit hits all three marks, serving straightforward and delicious American standards since the 1960s. The three-egg omelet loaded with veggies and sausage was exactly the pre-ski power-up I needed. My son stuck with his go-to breakfast burrito, and my daughter went with the classic two eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Everything was spot on. The staff has just the right level of "WWA"--Waitresses With Attitude. They are perfectly polite, but they hold the line on proper behavior and will quickly put anyone in their place if they step out of line. It keeps the environment grounded and authentic. A few tips for your visit: * Seating: Expect to wait for a table in the lobby or outside during peak hours. * Payment: Bring your wallet--this is a cash-only establishment.

They staff is fast and friendly and the food doesn't disappoint. It's such a rare thing in this day and age to see an old diner so we love to go when we are visiting Somerset. We typically go for breakfast. The next time you're in the area it's definitely a must stop place to go. Give them a try and you may have to wait to be seated they also only accept cash as their only form of payment so come prepared, they do have a ATM in the waiting area.

I was sad to hear they only serve chicken and waffles at breakfast. WHYYY??!!! Please add this to lunch and dinner. Our waitress was on point. Super friendly and refilled the sweet tea before it got halfway. I ordered the famous fried chicken and was pretty happy with the food. The baked potato was fine, it was just on the smaller size (4inches long it was literally the length of my size 6 lady finger). Mac and cheese was good, It did have some black spots but I chalk it up to coming in a 730pm. The roll was bland would not recommend. My fiance ordered the BBQ sandwich and onion rings. He is particular and was also very happy with his food. The other thing I would say is consider changing the hours. Closing at 8pm is insane, at least 4 tables arrived at 745pm! I say this because I know the competition is Martinsburg Family and that is open 24/7 I would reconsider the hours. I'm certain since the food was good you could justify a 10pm closure time but I'm just giving an opinion. I'd still go back.

Maybe it was good at some point or, maybe we had a really off day, but our experience was pretty subpar. Our server seemed like she had no idea what was going on and that she didn't want to be there that day. At one point, another server brought something over and my daughter asked "is our server new" and the other server said no, she had been there several years. So there was no excuse for not knowing answers to basic questions on menu items. None of our food was bad, but none of it was great, either. Everything was just OK. Not much flavor and pretty generic. Things like pancakes that you think couldn't get screwed up were boring and flavorless. Our last hope was the "famous" pies that our server told us about several times. When we asked about what flavors they had that day, she said she had to check (which seemed odd after telling us about them several times). Then she had to go back and check the flavors again because she forgot them. We did end up trying boston cream pie and dutch apple pie and they were both OK, but not anything that I couldn't find somewhere else. Overall, really disappointed in basically everything about our visit here.

It's not much to look at from the outside, and the interior is about the same. Upon entering, we definitely got the "local vibe." It didn't feel like You-Don't-Belong-Here. It felt more like You-Aren't-From-Here. Not unfriendly, just an acknowledgement that we were strangers. Seating was tight so the 5 of us added an extra chair to a booth meant for 4. Our server was pleasant. The ladies room was super clean and very nice, but Big Daddy said the men's room left a lot to be desired. Our food came out hot. The burgers were so-so. Definitely not the best I've ever eaten. But the fries were good, so that helped make up for it. Big Daddy really enjoyed his fish & chips, and Kid #2 said the chipped beef gravy was delicious. We probably would try someplace different if we were traveling through again, but overall it was pretty good.

From the simplicity of the edifice to the no-frills, hometown, 1960's appearance of the dining room, this place is a throwback...in a good way. We stopped here because it was on our route. It looked like a good, solid choice based on the description and the reviews. And it looked like a choice that was not too expensive. The location was truly what you could term "roadside" on US 322, because it was indeed right next to the road. The exterior appearance was certainly not elegant, but the building was in good shape. The interior was a bit cozy, and the layout was significantly wider than it was deep as you would expect with a small, hometown diner. The decor and furnishings were simple, though certainly adequate. We were seated right away. The service was very good as our server attended to us right away. She was very efficient and our food was delivered rather quickly after our order. The menu offered classic mid-Atlantic American comfort fare. Items such as burgers, a variety of sandwiches, pork chops, baked ham and liver and onions were featured. My wife opted for a simple BLT accompanied by chips, which was quite good. I chose the Baked Fish with mashed potatoes and a starter salad. We're both watching calories and these were great options for that. The value was excellent. The final bill with food, tax and tip (we had water to drink) was $13.00 per person. I would try this place again if circumstances allow.
