My extended family were in Hollidaysburg for the afternoon for a family event, and after the event…read morewe decided to experience one of Hollidaysburg's older pastimes... frozen custard! Now, I am not from the area, so it was all a new experience to me, but this being the original and seeing pictures posted on the walls from when my father and his siblings were experiencing this area as teenagers definitely brought on some good feelings. Reading about the history of the place, I found some interesting things that I am going to be relating to some other relatives. My experience there was excellent. We all got some form of custard for the afternoon, and it all went down quite well. The staff handled us all coming in like a herd of buffalos with ease, and we all came out of there happy as clams. I will definitely be returning the next time I am in the area (doesn't happen very often, living in Florida and all). As for those relatives? Well, I am going to be recommending a visit to my cousin in Australia... turns out there is one overseas location in Canberra, Australia, where she happens to live, so that will be a fun "sharing" experience between us!

I remember when I was a kid, I only went to the meadows to use the batting cages... THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THOSE ANYMORE! Ever since they took them out, I haven't and WILL NOT EVER return to the meadows All that's there, older people and younger kids who believe it's the best ice cream because it's the busiest and people who know the family personally... MAYBE they'd have more customers if their prices weren't THROUGH THE ROOF and if they DIDN'T TAKE OUT THE BATTING CAGES!

I'll start by saying we're not from here. We're spoiled for choice where we're from. Also, we're a…read moregay couple, but not overtly. We didn't know what to expect, especially seeing a few right-leaning shirts at the tables around us. Noticing this place while on a road trip we wanted to try it out. Breakfast was priced at $10.99 on the website. We got two plus one coffee and with tip the bill was about $35. Didn't add up, but ok. I noticed a few comments here about the staff being rude. We didn't experience that. From the cashier to the people serving drinks and picking up plates, they were nice and helpful. The food was ok, not great, but good for the price paid. I mean, from the mountains of food people were putting on their plates I'm a little confused how they make a profit. As a vegetarian and diabetic I had limited choice. If you are a meat eater, about every breakfast meat you can imagine they had, even something called scrapple, which is a regional thing I guess. There was an omelette station too. There was a dessert bar also. My husband -who has a sweet tooth- got a blueberry pie type dessert and could barely eat it because it was too sweet. As a diabetic it was good to see they had sugar free syrup and one sugar free dessert. On the buffet I could only have the eggs, mushrooms and a few house breakfast potatoes- which were quite good. We got there a little after 8:30 a.m. and it wasn't super busy. There was no waiting in line. When we left 45 minutes later, there was a huge line. Overall happy we tried it out. If we lived here we may go back to try out lunch or dinner. This isn't gourmet food, and for the price paid you wouldn't expect it. If you go, enjoy it for what it is.

Did I like everything on the buffet, no, but I did find plenty that I did like. They have a hot bar, a salad bar, a specialty bar, and a bakery bar. Nothing there was terrible, nothing was inedible, as some reviews have hinted. Some I liked better than others and In fact I'd go as far to say it's probably one of the better buffets in the area. For all you can eat, the price was very reasonable. If you can't find enough good food that you like to eat here, you are way too uppity to be eating at a buffet. I'd definitely go back, and soon.
