Hidden gem, worth the ride! Close to highway, only 4 minutes, but be ready to drive down thru a neighbourhood to find it. It's an old house on the corner. Old sign hanging, or you'd pass by. It has a cute bar, casual seating area like a diner, and it is everything that is said here. Berger was like it was homemade, and the chicken I had was juicy and generous portion. Price appropriate. Local folks. If I lived here, it would be a favorito spot. The negative was the grumpy worker, not our young server, but the guy who called him a moron for something he apparently did wrong. Newsflash: Customers don't need to hear that! No one said even hello when we walked in. Too busy dealing with some problem. He was bad energy and maybe just needs a few days off! It's my day off today, and I didn't let his attitude ruin it. Plenty of parking, enjoyed it very much! Get the fries !!!

So, Lee and I were on a road trip to Virginia, which took us down I-99. It was lunchtime, and we were hungry. To the Yelps! Yelp directed us to this place, which is located on a corner in a residential neighborhood. The entrance is around the side, and you are welcomed into a dimly-lit, dark place. That's OK, there are bars in Buffalo that have similar atmospheres. The waistaff was super chill, giving us time to go over the menu. It looked like they two things they're great for are Pittsburgh salads (which, for those who don't know, is a salad with the addition of fries. Who the hell knows why, but it works,) and cheesesteaks. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad, and Lee ordered a cheesesteak. Both were enormous and delicious. The chicken salad was piled high with chicken fingers, deep fried with a really good sauce. Lee had a cheesesteak, and it was enormous, piled high with steak and cheese and peppers. We made the mistake of ordering a side of fries and gravy. This wasn't a mistake because they were bad, it was a mistake because there simply was too much food. We were pretty much stuffed for the rest of the day, well into the evening. Definitely a great place for food!

This is a small plate of fries.... Enough for 3 to 4 people...WOW

Got the Kansas City Steak Salad, large. It's probably the best & biggest steak salad I've ever had, my GOD. Eating like a rabbit never felt so good

Reuben was gross. Barely any meat and it was chopped up in small squares. It was served as a big mess on a plate. Sent it back like this

This was a small fry. OMG. Amazing portions, and they were proper fresh cut fries!

The meatballs are amazing. No idea about the rest of the menu - it all looked good - but the meatball subs were to die for. Get some fries (a SINGLE small plate - huge portions) to share with the table to go with, and it's the best. (seriously, get the fries - they're fresh cut, and fantastic)

Ive found my Nirvana!!! Amazingly seasoned and best prepared wings. Un real

Thank you thank you thank you Yelp family for this amazing find!!!!!!! Just in the State College area for the weekend and needed a lil help for good eats. Yelp delivers once again!!!!!! Tim's American Cafe floored me. Not easy to find. Not easy to look at from the outside. But who gives a shit!!!!! Made my belly smile by offering the best chicken wing ive encountered in a long time. With other great cuisine!!!! Ordered the Kansas City steak salad and 2 dz of their famous wings. Wife was there to help me out if course. Im really not that much of a hog although my eyes always bigger than my belly... Thank God!!! The wings were medium hot prepared "chef style". First fried then baked to caramelize the delicious cajun inspired homemade wing sauce. It was all just RIGHT!!!! Wings huge. Tender meat. Light crisp crunchiness on the outside. And explosive flavorful sauce. Love cant describe!!!!! The steak salad perfect with huge kansas city strip steak prepared medium rare on top of homemade fresh cut fries and drizzled with homemade ranch dressing. Service was perfect. Prices cheap. Food served quickly!!!!! This place hasn't seen the last of me!!!! Great experience!!!!

Service was hands down better and more friendly than I have had locally in a very long time! Its a small establishment but they are a full service bar and cafe!

We chose to eat outside in their beautiful garden, which made for the perfect setting. I ordered the Hawaiian-style poke bowl, and it was absolutely delicious! The portion was very generous, with plenty of fresh ahi tuna. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting a brother and sister who were also traveling from out of town. We ended up sharing a table and great conversation, which made the experience even more memorable. The service was excellent. We asked our server for a recommendation, and he suggested the poke bowl--and I'm so glad he did! Everyone in our group loved their meal. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely return. I highly recommend The Knickerbocker!

But we decided to not spend more time for finding something else and stepped in. It was very charming, surprisingly well kept,of course old,but in a good way. Menu was intriguing, modern and seasonal, which I value the most. Waiter was engaging in our menu exploration and was knowledgeable. Now to the food.. cauliflower appetizer made as General Tso was one other best cauliflower in my entire life. Lightly fried, not mushy, but with exact chicken like texture in divine sauce, kicking spicy with sweet undertones. In the same way not overpowering to forget about cauliflower itself. A+ for that dish!!! Pirogi was a little doughy on my opinion, but taste was good. Asian bowl with salmon had great flavor profile: cabbage salad was beautiful and freshly crisp, carrots were marinated perfectly with slight vinegary flavors, bok choy was unbelievably delicious. I asked for medium salmon, mine was almost well done, but taste was good and rice in the middle wasn't sticky and flavorful, but had watery texture and was bland. Overall, this is an amazing festival of flavors and technically challenging menu. Bravo!!!
