From the host to my server this was a great experience. My breakfast hamburger and tomato basil soup was great. The feed was hot and cooked correctly. The soup had great flavor and the burger was hot but could have used some seasoning. My coffee never went empty. The table was clean and the carpet looked like they keep it clean. Little greasy, but that's what most breakfast places are like. It was nice to have a full hot breakfast while on the road traveling instead of McDonalds or other fast food options on that strip there. The orange juice was quite big if I remember right, which is rare - usually stingy at most places. First of all, this food was so BAD I couldn't even think to take a picture of it to post for my Yelp review. I was so focused on getting different food or trying not to throw up. Myself and my boyfriend went here before a night out. He remembered it fondly from years ago, and wanted to show me what the hype was about. Unfortunately, the standard has changed drastically from the last time he frequented Perkins. We ordered the sampler appetizer platter with chicken tenders, fried pickles, and mozzarella sticks. This was the shining star of the evening for me. Fried pickles (my choice) were nice and crisp/crunchy. Just the way I like them. Many places have soggy or soft fried pickles, so this was wonderful. Mozzarella sticks were good and standard. Chicken tenders (boyfriends pick) were disappointing to him to say the least... very very small pieces. Should be called chicken bites instead. With our meals, I ordered the loaded baked potato soup and he ordered a side salad. We both enjoyed the soup. Salad was standard and as expected. I ordered the turkey super club (I think it was called). For something that is basically a BLT plus turkey, I expected the sandwich to be at least warm via the bacon and toasted bread. I'm used to these types of clubs coming with warmed turkey, and this turkey was ice cold. But that's my fault for not checking before hand. However, the sandwich should still have been warm, and the entire thing was just cold cold and almost inedible. It just tasted bad, I don't know how else to describe it. He ordered the grilled pork chops with mashed potato's & gravy. This is where it got really bad. The pork chop was soooo dry and rubbery. Besides that, it just had a terrible taste. He was trying to eat it with a disgusted face when he told me to try it. I was really scared to even take a bite. He cut one off for me and I put it in my mouth and immediately spit it out. I couldn't even chew it. The taste was horrid and the texture even worse. He wanted to add the gravy from the potatoes to give it a better texture and to moisten it, but he said the gravy tasted terrible too (I was too scared to try). After only about two bites, we called the waiter over who helped us switch out at least the pork chop meal. He ended up switching for a breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon- hoping this would be better as breakfast seems to be their specialty. When this came, we found out why my club possibly tasted so bad. The bacon came dripping in its own pool of grease and wasn't freshly cooked. He couldn't eat it at all. After a dinner of pancakes and eggs, we decided to leave. The desserts looked good, but we were scared to try them and waste any more money. The waitress did a great job of handling all 6 of our separate bills, plus both her and the store manager had a fantastic attitude given it was nearly closing time. We came in on May 20th around 7 or 8 pm. The waiter seemed to be pissed off in his lot in life or something. He seemed like we were bothering him. After we ordered he brought our check with our food which felt like he just wanted us to pay & go away. We wanted to buy pie so he had to redo his own work to do another receipt with our pie instead of most places asking if u want dessert before they give u the bill. I would give zero stars if that were an option. I'm staying at the nearby hotel so this is a convenient place to eat. I had dinner here one night and the service was TERRIBLE. I had to wait a very long time to be seated when the place was less than half full. The table and the seat were filthy and I had to ask for them to be cleaned - which took several minutes. The food is typical Perkins - so-so. I came back last night and waited to be seated for several minutes and was ignored by three different people. One lady finally asked if I was waiting to be seated. I said yes. She said it would be just a minute, then walked away. When she came back, she was to busy taking other customers money. Then she walked away again. A guy came out of the kitchen and asked if I was waiting to be seated. I told him that I had been waiting several minutes. He told me to hold on for just a minute and walked away. The first woman came back and fiddled around by the cash register, then disappeared back into the kitchen. Then the guy came back and asked if I was waiting to be seated - again. I told him that I had already said that I was waiting but I was tired of being ignored. So I left. I've eaten here a few times with my husband but I have to say not much as improved over the years. The food is okay, typical Diner food, but the service stinks. There are a few elderly waitresses that have been there for a while that give excellent service, but the kids that work there? As a customer and an Avid foodie I am well aware of the stigma that is placed on those that work in the Foodservice industry. It's no secret that most restaurants don't run background checks or provide drug screening, that's why it's mostly felons in college kids. But this place sets a new standard, I can't speak much for the kitchen, but the management doesn't really seem to care that most of their younger servers have poor attitudes and stand around playing on their cell phones. It's not all bad though? if you're fortunate enough to get good service you also get to enjoy the intoxicating Aroma of marijuana that comes off the servers after they come back in from their "Breaks". They have a fence around the back of the building but anyone driving by or pulling into the parking lot can get a wiff of what these kids are doing when there outside. Especially the late night staff, they don't even try to hide it!!! Out of all the resturants we have eaten at and all the reviews and surveys we have filled out over the years my husband and I would like to offer a bit of advice to the management at this particular resturant. "At least drug test your employees" If you get rid of the bad apples this place might have a chance at turning itself around, but as long as you keep letting these kids run wild and doing whatever they want, your reputations going to stay the same if not get worse. read more
