We eat at Perkins about once a week. Their soup and half sandwich special is great. I've tried all 3 soups, but my favorite is tomato basil. We also enjoy eating breakfast and usually go for the 55+ menu. We do have a favorite waitress, but all except one are very good. read more

Saw the road sign on I-80 for Perkins and had to stop. All the ones near me closed so seeing an open Perkins was like spotting Bigfoot. Restaurant was not busy at all but we were there at 3:15 so late for lunch and early for dinner. Restaurant was very clean including the windows. We were seated at a spacious booth immediately. We both knew what we wanted so only casually glanced at the menu. There was an entire selection of breakfasts and entrees for seasonal strawberries. Rest of the menu was the usual casual dining fare like breakfasts, sandwiches and meatloaf, etc. Food came out very quickly. Except for the toast, it was all hot and fresh. Toast was OK but the butter was not melted. Pancakes were amazing! Server was personable, not obtrusive and was attentive. One of the manager stopped by and we had a nice chat about the changes the company has been through and the closure of the stores near my area. Next time I have a hankering for the Tremendous Twelve, I would have no problem traveling the 50 miles one way to this Perkins for one. read more

Breakfast before the road trip back And this lil Perkins did a good job this morning we ordered steak and eggs blue berry pancakes brioche french toast eggs and ham and bacon. Our server Marcy was great and attentive she kept our coffee cups full and the check in often. The ambiance was serene quiet and Pleasant as people filtered in the severs were immediately addresses and attended to so must say that this place had it together as one of the few breakfast digs. read more

I used to work in a Perkins when I was in high school and have such fond memories. We stopped in to break up a long drive. I ordered an omelette with hash brown potatoes and pancakes. My omelette was half the size that it used to be with the most pathetic side of incredibly greasy hash browns. The pancakes have also shrunk over the years, which is ok since they were always enormous and too much for me to eat. My kids ordered the boston cream pancakes - they enjoyed the fluffy eggs that came with them although my son ordered over easy and received scrambled. The pancakes were insanely sweet as one would expect. The service was good and the restaurant looked very similar to all of the other Perkins restaurants. Just meh this time. read more

We stopped in here for a quick early dinner while we were traveling. My husband had a really nice steak and potato skillet dish and I had the homestyle meatloaf that was served on top of some really good mashed potatoes (and topped with a handful of fried onions and french fries!). I chose the green beans with bacon as my side - the green beans were a bit stringy but still good. We also both had side salads that were definitely worth the ten dollar price tag. We were there around 4 on a Friday and by the time we left, the restaurant was pretty packed. The service was great as well. Overall, a solid visit. read more

Years ago in the far away state of florida, perkins was a favorite. Today, at this location, the Tuscan chicken was rubbery. Chicken soup good though. Location aged and seats ripped and not fresh clean feel. Looks like the good reviews are for breakfast items, only? So chose carefully. read more

My family and I waited 30 minutes and we saw our waitress one time and we had to get up and ask for her, we were not served drinks the hole time we waited, the two tables by us were both served food and drinks. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any dining place. read more

It's been 2 weeks since we ate here on our road trip across America and we are still talking about the Multi-Grain Blueberry Pancakes. At no other time in our lives, not in mama's or grandma's kitchen, not in the fanciest of dining establishment have we ever had better Blueberry Pancakes. This day, Perkins set the "gold standard" by which all other pancakes will be judged. We still crave the mounds of hot delicious blueberries that come out of the delicious multi-grain stack. It's better than the best desert we have ever had. Nothing we can do--sadly Perkins does not like the West Coast of the USA and there are no locations anywhere in California. :( But why not?? We also had a awesome Egg White Omelet with Spinach and Broccoli that is to die for. Perkins puts Dennys and IHOP and many other high end LA breakfast places to shame! And it's a shame that we are going to have to wait to get back to the mid-west to dine here again. Service at Perkins you want to know: Direct and matter of fact. Wasn't expecting much when we arrived late on a Sunday morning en route from New York to Detroit. (Especially since I had gotten excited to eat brunch at the County Seat only to discover they are closed on Sunday.) But Perkins was absolutely fine, with friendly service, lots of choices, solid food and some healthy sides as choices on the kids' menu which I appreciated. (This allowed me to make peace with my daughter's choice of pancakes with rainbow sprinkles...) Only wish: grapefruit juice, which has apparently disappeared from the menu. Ah well. Service was non existent. I didn't get all the food I ordered and gave up asking for it. My kid's sides had to be asked for and then were microwaved to make up for not delivering them in time. We were there yesterday for mid afternoon snack. I ordered the Country fried steak. Never again. Not only was it full of gristle, it was only 3/16 of an inch thick. If not for the 3/8 of an inch of breading in each side, it would not have existed. The fries were good and hot but the meal in itself was over priced for the tissue paper thin piece of meat. My coworker and I had to grab breakfast before heading off to work (sorry hotel, but we had enough of the free continental breakfast....we wanted to chow down on some options). So, being 6am (and really not much to choose from), we drove the short distance to Perkins. We were seated right away, by a friendly but busy worker, who kind of hurried us along (thinking back now, I may not have been fully awake and competent at this point). We grabbed the menus and started deciding. Others came in, maybe a total of 4 other families. The waitress definitely knew the customers by name and asked them if they wanted their "regulars". Loyal fan of? Maybe. We both had breakfast platters, choosing French toast and Lemon Blueberry pancakes. It didn't take long for the meals to come out (I sure hope not, we were the only ones to start out in the restaurant!!). I was slightly annoyed that the coffee additions (creamers, sugar, etc) weren't replenished, even after I scooted them to the edge of the table as a friendly reminder. I mean, people need their coffee in the morning!! The food was nicely prepared, but lacked seasoning. I hate adding salt and pepper to my food, but had a heavy hand that morning, as my eggs and sausage did nothing for me taste buds. The French toast was sub par, as I have had wayyy better in my time, but, it was edible and we were in a hurry, so we didn't complain. We travel from NYC to CHICAGO regularly. Always stop in Clarion to fill up with gasoline. Usually eat at McDonalds. Decided to try Perkins. The servers are nice but honestly the food is average at best. And this Perkins really needs to be modernized and cleaned up. It's basically one of the few places in the are where you can sit down.
