We were headed home from a visit to Yellowstone and had spent the night in Kearney. We've eaten at other Perkins so thought we'd get a good breakfast there. I had Banana pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. I always order my eggs scrambled soft and can't understand why that is so difficult for some places to prepare. "Soft" scrambled eggs do not have scorch on them and are not rubbery! I took one bite and could hardly choke it down. Bacon should be served crisp if ordered that way. "Crisp" means it isn't limp and the fat is not white. Didn't get that either. The banana pancakes were very good, though. My husband ordered basted eggs (they are sort of like sunny-side up for those who have never heard of basted eggs). The yolks should be runny -- his were still golden, not to the yellow boiled egg color, but firm. His "crispy" bacon was also limp. They weren't overly busy when we arrived, although they were filling up when we left. I love their muffins and pies and should have ordered coffee and a muffin that day! read more

Absolutely the worst service I have ever had, 3 people who came in after us with larger parties got their food before we did, sat at the table for 10 mins before the manager came over and took our order. Place was not busy at all but 5 servers in the place and none could help us. Food was completely wrong and then they tried to charge us for the things the did not give us. Have been here several times for pie with friends who thought was good and there were not much else, nothing really, to pick from. Pie is ok if you like lots of crust. I don't. Good example here of the importance of location for too many food places. read more

I'm amazed by previous reviews... My experience here was quite delightful. Service was great, drinks were brought out quickly and our order was taken in a timely manner and food was served as ordered. We didn't go too far off of menu but had no issues. After receiving food we were asked a couple of times how things were, if we needed anything and whatever we asked for was brought out right away. The food was good, no complaints. Everyone seemed to enjoy everything. Dinner room was clean as well as the bathroom. Women's had a koala changer thing in it. read more

If you like Denny's then you will enjoy here. It is relatively quiet, offers a 55+ discount. You get your very own pot of coffee to refill as much as you like. I found the breakfast menu (served all hours of the day) to be a bit better than Denny's and it is open 24 hours. 55+ menu offered the familiar Grand Slam like order at 5.99 and coffee was 1.99. read more

Our experience with this Perkins was great. There was a small blizzard outside and we needed to eat and get back on the road quickly. There wasn't a lot of places open with the weather but Perkins was. We thought it was going to take forever to get in and out, but they had super fast and nice service. Ok, so some people think it's like an old folks home, so what. This place is neat and clean, much better than any Denny's. The service is friendly, quick, and efficient. The food was cold and they served one of our guests the wrong food. The waitress said she would get us syrup and the other missing side and never came back. We asked another server to help us and she was very accommodating. We spoke with the manager twice who was very willing to reduce our bill. read more

I was in town for three weeks on business. I had several meals at this location. Overall it was good. The staff is a bit slow at time, but that seams to be more of a non-rushed atmosphere. The good was always brought out as soon as it was ready. Portions are large. I never felt like i was hungry after a meal. Price was good for dine in. I was on expenses so had my choice and still ate there offten. Not sure I'd frequent if i lived local but for a traveler it was great. read more

This is for a Perkins menu item in general. I just had the new Everything Smasher and it sucked. No flavor at all, even after I generously salted and peppered it. Dish was mostly onions and green peppers, with just a small amount of ham diced into teeny pieces. One egg cooked perfectly and the other was over cooked. We also dismissed the negative reviews. All restaurants have bad days, right? Stopped in at 2:00 in the afternoon for what we thought was quick breakfast food. It looked promising as there were very few people there - maybe 3 tables. We were seated promptly and asked what we'd like to drink. Coffee and water please. 20 minutes later it arrived. After waiting 40 more minutes, food arrived and we inhaled it as we had already lost valuable time on our road trip. Wish I had trusted the bad reviews - lesson learned. read more

I rarely write a negative review, but wow, this is a place to avoid. We were ignored for more than 5 minutes before being seated. There were only about 10 tables occupied. Staff not only didn't t greet us, no one even looked at us. Finally we're were shown to a table where we sat for 12 minutes before I asked the manager for someone to get us drinks. His response was, "So what do you want? Water, coffee, pop, what?" I'm not kidding. When we ordered, he walked away, and didn't come back with the drinks! Had we not been traveling I'd have left right then. When a waitress brought the drinks we told her we were ready to order. She just waited for us to start, no greeting. The food came out quickly and was good, except my daughter's BLT fell off the tray onto her. Whole plate and everything right on her shoulder. The waitress (not the one who took our order) apologized profusely and a new one was brought out. It happens. Manager stopped at the table, also apologized. My salad was limp and warm, and I had to ask for the pie slice that came with the meal when I gave up getting the tab and went to the counter to ask for it. You might guess a complimentary slice of pie, or a muffin, or a cut on the bill. Nope. Nothing. Shame on you. I love Perkins, but this was not a good experience. read more

We went to eat dinner here while passing through Kearney on a road trip. The waitress was pleasant but the service was terrible! We had three children under the age of 10 with us. And after waiting over 20 minutes for their food, it was another 15 before my husband and I were served. The place was not crowded but it wasn't empty either. The waitress said they were having issues in the kitchen and that was that. The food was typical of Perkins -nothing fancy. When we were brought the bill, we had been charged full price for each of the sides to the kid's meals, which were only supposed to be .99 each. I took it to the register and pointed it out to the manager. She said she would fix it and I think she took $3 off instead of the $8 she should have. She never gave me a new receipt and I didn't ask. There were several people waiting to experience a poor serviced dinner and, as I said, we had 3 children with us. They had been very patient and I didn't want to waste any more time haggling over 5 bucks! read more

Really looked forward to a Perkins breakfast this morning. Server brought coffee spilled some as it turns out the coffee pot leaked badly, I used the only napkin I could get to clean it up. I ordered eggs sunny side up and got them over easy, my husband ordered sourdough toast he got whole wheat, I asked for water to cool off my coffee and when he came back saw I wasn't drinking it and asked how I was enjoying my water. Terrible service. The actual food is/was good but this particular Perkins has the worst wait staff. It almost always has. The waitress asked us if we wanted dessert less than ten minutes after we got our meals. What? We don't know yet, give us time to take more than five bites first! Ordered a soda that was never refilled, never asked, even after it was empty. Same with our water glasses. Waitress never removed dirty plates from our table. Even after she came back to ask again if we wanted dessert. Which we did. Ordered two slices of pie. She had no idea what kind of pie they even had! Visibly recoiled when I asked what kind they had available. Like that was a question she had never heard before! Said, and I quote, "I don't know. There isn't a kind I've been told we are out of. They are listed in that menu over there", and just gestured vaguely at our table. So we ordered from the menu, she said she would check first to make sure they had it and come back if not. Had to tell her we wanted ice cream with it. And heated up. She tried to walk away before we could even tell her both of those things. That was the last time she came to our table. We waited 30 minutes before we gave up on seeing our pie. So needless to say she didn't bring a check either... When we went up to pay the host was who helped us. I told him we didn't get our check. Just like we didn't get our pie we waited 30 minutes for. The manager was on the phone next to the host. He just said a name (the waitress' I guess) and then proceeded to ignore us. The host asked if we still wanted our pie. "Will we be charged for it?", I asked. Well of course, we were told. I told him, "No", we want to get out of here. The manager hung up the phone and walked away. Neither he or the host ever offered an apology. This was at 4pm, not a time they were even busy and they had plenty of help. Three waitress (including ours) just stood around talking in front of their "area". The place is a joke. I will never set foot in this place again. An apology would have gone a long way, but they obviously have no training in customer service. The manager should be ashamed of himself and this establishment. My experience was terrible. We called for a reservation a day in advance so they would be prepared. Upon arrival we were informed that the table was being set up and that we would be seated in a few minutes later. After waiting nearly a half an hour we checked to see what the problem was, we were informed that people were seated at our table and we were waiting for them to finish talking and leave. After almost one hour, we had to beg to even get sat at the other empty tables and we had to sit INDIVIDUALLY ! Not as a group like we intended and noticed the people that had supposedly been talking had just got their food. The assistant manager, Andrea not only lied repeatedly to us, but she laughed at us pathetically when we got upset that our table that was reserved ONE DAY AHEAD was not ready. And the man was in charge of seating us was beyond rude and was so unhelpful! Horrible experience and would never recommend this crap of an establishment to anyone else! read more
