    Country fried steak

I took out lunch from here. Food was ready quickly. Prices were reasonable. Quantity was more than enough for a lunch. I went for a country fried steak. It was ok. It was low on flavor, but that is all as per the expectation.

Welcoming, chill, a no-fuss early Tuesday morning. The server was so pleasant and my meal was great (chicken fried steak). I will be back! Thank you.

There was a 10 mins wait on a Sunday afternoon and we were seated near the register. Kinda surprised to see so many customers as it was past lunch time. Strawberry festival is going on and they got all sorts of strawberries items. Got my half sandwich, salad and pie for $9.99 while hubby got breakfast. Both meals came put pretty fast. Our friendly waitress Jody checked on us a few times. Food tasted good. We are both stuffed and satisfied! Oh we signed up the Perkins reward so we shall see what promotions they have in the future. Better than Dennys and IHOP, IMO :)

Dropped by Perkin's on a late night food run to get the country fried and was not disappointed. Pretty solid portions on both entrees and they came out INSANELY QUICK. Nothing else besides the country fried steak stuck out to me, but definitely want to revisit to try their other options because they have a large menu! The young lady that helped us was also very nice!

Great for breakfast. Stopped in and tried the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Pancakes. They far exceeded my expectations! The pancakes were nicely spiced and tender and topped with delicious whipped cream. Lots of cream....no syrup needed for me. It came with your choice of meat and eggs. Everything was delicious and our server was great.

I was pleasantly surprised by both the food and the service during a 2am food run. Back in March, my now-husband and I were in Madison making plans for our wedding and he was telling me all about his late-night trips to Perkins with friends. He honestly never said anything about the food being good. Rather, it was more like a, "food's food" kind of deal. Some of the other Yelp reviews mentioned god-awful service and that's what I was afraid we were going to get. Instead, the one girl working was really friendly and straight to the point. She got us a table, took our orders, made sure we had coffee refills, and was never too far away if we needed help with something else. I had a plate with hash browns, two eggs over easy, two sausage links, and two strips of bacon. It also came with french toast! Husband had their biscuits and gravy, and I think it came with some pancakes. My eggs were cooked well, not over or under. The food was really greasy... but how can it not be lol. I also ordered a blueberry muffin and deeply regret not getting a couple more for our breakfast the next day because they were slightly crunchy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. Even though I can't really say Perkins is better than IHOP or Denny's, the only big chains of this type in LA, I'm glad I had a chance to try it. The food is crazy cheap for what you get.

It was a delightful lunch with friends today at Perkins off the beltline near Fish Hatchery in Madison. The food was delicious and our waitress Denise was friendly, upbeat and professional.

A "clean table" one of us actually washed the table n after that dude forgot 1 order and all our food came out super cold

The service is horrible. Would not recommend this Perkins. Fruit flys we're all over the place.

Wow. Damn good salmon steak dinner, two sides (I got steamed veggies and tomato basil soup), and dinner roll. All for $11. Great stuff!

We had some old fashioneds before ordering food, and I thought they were good. Service was super attentive, especially as we delayed ordering to enjoy drinks and an appetizer for a bit. I ordered the beer battered cod fish fry (my staple), and overall it was yummy to eat. The two pieces that came out were enormous and a bit wonky shaped... made me wonder what on earth this fish looked like in its swimming days. The batter was quite tasty, crunchy but not too crunchy/hard, but it was so incredibly think I'm not sure I got fish in every bite. I took one piece home and give the fish part to my pup as a meal topper, and the ratio of breading I had to pull off compared to fish was a bit (quite a bit) much. Still, everything I ate was tasty. I got the salad with my dinner, and was so happy that it came out with quality greens instead of a chunk of iceberg type lettuce. Overall, I'd come back again if others wanted, but wasn't wild about the batter to fish ratio.

Ordered the soup and half sandwich special for $6!!! Soup was good flavor but the consistency was chalky, you can tell it was on too hot and milk had split. Sandwich was perfectly grilled and served with a pickle. Nice portions for how extremely reasonable. Servers were helpful and quick, they both helped each other and had a good time behind the bar.

This spot is a true local tavern from decor, furnishings, exterior, service, locals lining the bar, old school arcade games and classic tavern food. I swung by recently after grabbing a coffee across the way, then wandering around Wingra Park for a bit. Figured I worked up a thirst, so we bellied up to the bar and had a few Spotted Cows! While we did not eat, we browsed the menu and gawked at a few plates that came by. Food looked decent and as we were leaving they were tossing up the Friday Fish Fry sign, which I hate we missed. But what we didn't do in food, we did in beer. We each had a couple of rounds, all draft. We watched what sports were on, chatted with folks and just enjoyed the chill time and cold beer. Service was friendly and helpful. Bartenders were not the quickest to check in on you, but they were nice enough and acknowledged any wait. Overall, solid tavern in Madison. Nothing special, but nothing awful. Classic tavern, and I can dig it.

Its one advantage is a lovely fireplace. Lights are dim. Has that old-wood vibe. Staff are attentive. Bartender was very personable and helpful. To that end, one of the staff recognized a member of my group from frequent carry-out orders. Food is fine, although nothing remarkable. Fried green beans were fun. All the apps are fried. Maybe it is the lower price, as more area restaurants try to morph into 'upscale' bar food. Not sorry I met my friends here, but it won't be a destination restaurant for me.
