I am in Perkins having breakfast. The food is as it always is...the comfort food from our early years. My husband, however, just got back from the restroom and was appalled by the stench that met him when he walked in! Don't know if the cleaning is sub-par but I don't think so. I suspect it's the broken urinal that isn't flushing. YUK!!!!!! If I come back and the problem is fixed, I'll amend my rating. read more

Typical chain breakfast diner. Breakfast potatoes are good. Chicken fried steak was okay, sort of a tv dinner standard that was acceptable. Not the place to go if you are out for a gourmet meal, but comfort foods done acceptably are all here. Staff was cordial and efficient. read more

As a Perkins, it's Perkins. It's good, the food was good. This review is about our waitress Brenda. Brenda is an absolute GEM. We were there with our 4 year old who was being, well, 4. Having a hard time sitting still, "this isn't a jungle gym" being thrown around ultimately leading to a stern scolding from dad resulting in tears. Brenda stopped by and in her genuinely sweet voice asked if he was ok. Then she brought his food out about 20 seconds later to help appease a restless kiddo. Not all hero's wear capes and Brenda is a hero. In times where it feels like the personal touch is getting wiped away with disinfectant, Brenda brings that even through her mask. Always a classic place to go. We stop in for a great slice of pie and a drink during our kids soccer practice at Dundas. Also delicious. The service is always great! Very poor customer service. Not the server, she was great. The manager wouldn't let our teenage vegetarian daughter order the Mac n Cheese kids meal because she was older than 12. We offered to pay more it but was not allowed. This is completely rediculous. read more

The service received was appalling! My daughter and I went to eat there at 2pm (not a peek hour) last week. There were only a couple of tables with customers. when we were to be seated by the host, I asked for a booth and the manager (Louz Castillo) hollered across the restaurant "all the booths are dirty." As we sat down I glanced over at the booths. If they did need cleaned, they just needed a simple wipe down at best. I should have just walked out right then and there because the experience only got worse. As we sat waiting for our food (that was probably spit on thinking in retrospect), the manager and hostess were talking just a table away from us. In Spanish what I heard them say in reference to my daughter and I SHOCKED me! I whipped my head around toward them causing them to realize I knew what they said. OMG for such language whether in English, French, Spanish, whatever is disgusting and certainly not how you speak in a place of business. I lost my appetite. Upon paying (begrudgingly at this point) I asked if the woman with the atrocious tongue was the manager, she reply flippantly that she was. I told her to write her name LEGIBLY on my receipt. Couldn't tell you what that foul-mouthed manager's first name is, but I can tell you I filed a complaint with corporate. This town does not need trash like that serving us food. Perkins needs to improve their reputation by the looks of the Google reviews. They can start by getting a more professionally behaved manager. read more

Ordered Indecision Grill Platter thinking I would satisfy both my pancake want and french toast want. Food came out cold! Plae was nice and hot which means it say under the warming lifts! Who eats cold scrambled eggs? Gross! Even the sausage and bacon was cold. They took it back and their fix was to microwave it! Really? Ummm...nope don't think so. This Perkins is mostly like any other. The food is pretty good. I was a little disappointed that the hostess ignored us the first few times she walked past but we were seated shortly after. The real star of this restaurant is Brenda! I heard her voice and thought "I hope we're in her section." Luckily we were! She is so kind and enthusiastic and very prompt. Rude staff. Kids don't eat free all day Tuesdays like every other location. Waitress just stood there and waited for us to order rather than being personable and asking. She didn't check on us either to make sure everything was good. No drink refill. No actual service. Manager did not honor the many online sources that say Kids eat free ALL DAY Tuesdays at Perkins. Won't be returning to this location. We will be going to a different location for our weekly ritual from here on out. read more

For a chain restaurant, the price and large servings, and freshness make it all worth it. So far I've had the Hibachi shrimp on a bed of rice which was quite good. The Southwest Chicken salad with chipotle dressing was very good, I was actually too full after finishing it but I was really hungry at the beginning. The staff is courteous and pleasing, the booth was clean, and I will be going back there tonight for dinner, just wish they served wine but the fact that it's a family restaurant I can appreciate why they don't. read more

The food we got was fine. I won't complain about that. What really bothered our group last time we went to this restaurant is that we had been seeing ads about their "Great Plates from 4 to 8" menu for years. We decided to go there one morning, but when we started looking through the many menus they gave us, we couldn't find anything about that one. Finally we asked the waitress about it, and she acted like she had never heard of such a thing. We explained it more, and she hesitantly said that she could ask her manager about it, but was pretty sure they didn't offer anything like that, or "at least not right now". Eventually she came back with a very boring-looking, single sheet of printer paper with the options written in small, plain print. Just one - for us all to share. They couldn't have made us feel more uncomfortable for asking about it, let alone ordering anything from it. When a couple of us did, the waitress had to take the menu from us and squint at it to understand what we were ordering. To make it all the more ridiculous, when we got in the car afterward, we noticed that an advertisement for that SAME deal was hand-painted in huge colorful letters -- in the FRONT. CENTER. WINDOW. COME ON, PERKINS! Never heard of it?!? So I guess that'll be the last time we go there, at least to the one in Northfield. read more

We were on our way to go swimming at the ymca. We decided it would be convenient to eat here. It is across the street from the ymca and kids eat free on Tuesdays. We ordered our food at 5:51pm. I arrived after my wife and was never offered a drink. My wife had to ask a different waitress to get me a drink. At 6:45pm the food comes. The waitress hands me a half empty plate. My burger is missing the fries. She hands my wife her omelette without her hash browns. She hands my daughter a plate of cold food. When we questioned her she was dumbfounded that a burger would come with fries. No offer to re fill our drinks ever. We sat there for over an hour without drinks. We finally just gave up and left. When the waitress delivered the bill she informs us that we have to order a drink to get the kids eat free special. We didn't know that, it's not posted. We also just prefer water. They removed my wife's hash browns because when they did come to the table she was done with her omelette. I have been in food industry and this was a total failure. I decided to talk to the manager. I told I just want to give you some feedback so you can improve it. She didn't want to here it. She offered to pay the whole bill, but I said no. I told her we would never be back. read more
