Yes, I marked it as only a 3, but the day we stopped it was GREAT! Why? We were very late heading home and this was a place that was open. Maybe not a great recommendation, but when you are heading home with a 2 hour drive ahead of you and hungry....Just being OPEN, CLEAN and Friendly is more than enough. We both ordered breakfasts. We call them our vacation breakfasts, as being away from home we are almost always busy so we eat late morning (lol maye even past noon) and know it will be late for dinner...Pancakes or waffles, bacon/sausage and eggs////maybe potatoes... Stephanie is one of the only servers we allow to wait on us at this perkins. She is kind, she is attentive and she always gets everything correct. We only go when she is working and we have been going for close to 10 years. The food is decent but only when you are in the mood for breakfast they do that correctly. The pies are delish also. The new sandwich at Perkins is delish. I ordered the steak sandwich and Livvy ordered the spicy chicken. The jalapeños on the steak sandwich were not overbearing or too spicy and the dip that they give to go with the sandwich stepped it up even more. If you want dessert try the raspberry lemon drop. Came this morning for breakfast with my 3 year old son and husband . We are visiting from Las Vegas and I grew up in Pennsylvania with a Perkins and was super excited to see one in Sioux City! I am with the Red Sky Nation MMIR Pow Wow committee and we are having breakfast and a blessing of the grounds before we start the pow wow. I called the perkins to ask if we could buy coffee by the pot, we need at least 35-45 cups for all of our head staff and Committee members. I spoke with Robert, the Manager, I explained to him what we are doing and he is a GOD sent, he donated the coffee to the Committee. I went to the bathroom and tried to wash my hands. Both times (beginning and end of my time here) there was no soap in the bathroom, as well as no hand sanitizer in either dispenser in the main waiting area. I asked them to refill it several times and they didn't until the end, even after I tried to go into the kitchen to wash my hands, which they didn't let me, which I suppose is somewhat understandable. However, they should have also refilled the soap and hand sanitizer sooner and we wouldn't have that issue. I also went up to ask them to wait on my family and they did soon after. However, a customer should never have to get up to ask to be waited on. Period. Step up your game Perkins, or lose your competitive advantage against other restaurants. I was their with my Grandmother ans husband. We all witnessed a manager of the restaurant call the police because of an intoxicated customer trying to fight other customers...she eventually left, but before that process of her leaving, another cutomer decided to add to the conversation officers were having with the person who complained and staff. From there a staff member was telling him to be nicer to workwrs or leave. Either a mgr or a staff member decided they wanted the young man to leave, and police informed him of tge request. the mgr called. As he was told to leave he stood up took his jacket and said I'm leaving. One of the officers grabbed and twisted his arm as he was already up and in the process of putting on his jacket. After that there was a tussle and a taser pulled out on him. After that display I no longer want to visit this restaurant. read more

This Perkins has been here forever. I used to frequent it as a high schooler and it's always a 'fun' place to be after a night of heavy drinking. Now I don't come very often at all. My review is half based on a lifetime of dining here and my experience today. The building is kinda getting old and beat up, but it's fine. The bathrooms...wow. I opened the door and the stench was incredible. There must not be much of a filter system in there. It was clean tho. My meal and my husband's meal was great! My eggs were delicious and my husband says he could just drink their breakfast gravy. Our waitress was nice, service was pretty quick. She didn't pre-bus and always brought a whole new glass for refills so it was a little odd having 8 glasses at our table, but oh well. My wife and I had breakfast this morning. My wife's meal was good, hot and everything she asked for. Mine on the other hand was terrible, i ordered eggs over easy. On yolk was broken and hard the other was just hard, bacon could have been used as a weapon it was that hard. My toast had a little butter in the center of the bread not spread to the edges at alll. The time came and I took my wife thinking it would be a nice place for a casual date night. My wife ordered the roast with a "loaded backed potato" and I got the chicken tender plate. Pancakes are delicious. Definitely a place to go for breakfast. Not as much of a fan of the appetizers...they just feel too greasy, though that could also be my fault. Service is mixed. Often seems slow and sometimes a bit unattentive, but special requests (like a water pitcher because I had a cough) were taken care of without incident. However, it's worth noting that you can often score $10 gift certificates from the Sioux City Journal for $7 or less. They can only be used once (you won't get any change back) but they don't seem to charge tax on them (it's considered a coupon) and can be used with other coupons. With those, the price becomes pretty reasonable. read more

But when we tried to use the bathroom, the door was propped open and there was a man in there...there was no sign on the door to indicate it was out of order, but it stunk horribly.
