I'm not a hard guest to please, I just want what my $31 (NOT "$27.82", You don't even know your own prices on your own menu, after up charges) should be giving me product wise. Original review below: I've been to a few famous Dave's here and there in my day, quite a few times. A LOT actually. So being out here in Sioux City Iowa & not really eating for the past couple days, I decided to go with a brand that I trusted. Cutting carbs, & going mainly carnivore is what I'm back to until I shed a few pounds. Been goin on a month so far. I didn't physically go to this location, I ordered off of GrubHub. But felt confident because of all the times I've frequented these across the country. I think that all changes today. I typically don't order a whole lot of barbecue, & typically 1 out of every 4 or 5 make the cut, & also because I make competition smoked meats on my Backwoods Lil Chubby G2 reverse flow competition water/wood smoker, & it's unfair for me to be a judge of a barbecue place because of my bias, & my uncanny talent in a smoke pit, but this is 1 place that I continued to go to because of consistency past. I ordered a 2 meat plate. Brisket (which was an upcharge) & jalapeno cheddar sausage. I ordered steamed broccoli, & a side Caesar salad (or their version of it) for a $2.50 up charge. The brisket wasn't actually bad at all, it's a lot better than a lot of other places I've eaten, but seriously, 4 slices? The sausage was fine. Normal big size sausage. I can't wrap my head around how you're charging me an extra 2.50 for a side Caesar salad, that is literally just What looks like McDonald's shredded lettuce, compared to the cost of what your beans, mac n cheese & other side dishes cost. I ordered the most cost-effective and profitable meal for you guys to make. I get it, times are hard right now for some, but this is really insulting. Including the tip for my driver of $7, this whole meal came to $41 & some change. The amount of food that I just got, comes in WAY below The typical 30% restaurant food cost. I probably got MAYBE $4 worth of meat & that's being generous. Looking at pictures of the brisket sandwich, it looks like the sandwich comes with twice as much meat so that also has me perplexed. Broccoli don't cost nothing. Shredded lettuce don't cost nothing. Since I'm cutting carbs, I only took one little nibble of the cornbread and threw it in the trash. Along with the other slice of bread that was on underneath my insult of brisket slices. The cornbread was actually really good. Too bad I can't eat it. I'm pulling a star, because your workers didn't pay attention when I asked for utensils & napkins. So I had to march my butt up to the truck stop while my food sat and got colder to get forks & napkins. What once was a reputable brand, a staple, a barbecue joint I had faith in, has now been cast away in the file with all of the other lackluster BBQ joints out there. They used to be so good but the last 2 times the BBQ has been dry. Not sure what the change is but I hope it gets resolved.

We ended up at Famous Dave's when our initial restaurant was overflowing with Prom attendees and their parents. I was pleasantly surprised to find ample parking at a downtown location. We had a little wait and grabbed a couple of seats by the bar until a table for 6 was ready. The location has lots of entertaining decor from the entrance and throughout the restaurant. Bathrooms are out a door into an office type building, but all good. We had a variety of food and beverages from adult to ice tea and waters with lemon wedges. Meals were combos with these represented; ribs, burnt ends, chicken, and catfish. We were all too stuffed to try dessert. Everyone in our group liked their meals, and our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. I'd eat there again if I was in Sioux City. read more

Was on a trip visiting the city for the first time, and got recommended their pick 3 menu option. Upon entering, the from lady was very kind and told me the wait was about 20 mins, but I ended up being there for 50+ mins without any food on my table. I don't go very often at all, and the main reason is my Uncle is a competition BBQ pit dude, but when I do get to this Famous Daves it's always great! I really love the brisket nachos! The building is my favorite part of this place. It's a cool 2-story old factory building in down town Sioux City. The rest of the building houses a reality office and my hair salon. The BBQ smell is SO yummy whenever I go get my hair done. LoL The decor is really cool. They even have their bathrooms decorated! It's odd the restrooms are in the hallway of the main building; and they share them with the rest of the businesses, but it's clean. It's a chain restaurant, but it's good. They do catering and sometimes you can find a Famous Dave's mobil booth at fairs and the such around town. read more

Party of one. I was seated immediately which was awesome since there were a lot of other groups waiting to be seated. I was initially taken to a table at the back of the restaurant. I did not care for the location so I asked to be seated at the (high tops) bar. Much better as it allowed for social distancing. Nick, the bartender, was very attentive. He took my drink order as soon as I sat down and provided me with a menu. My dinner order was served within a reasonable time of me placing the order and Nick checked to make sure I didn't need anything else and my food was prepared correctly. We dined in earlier this evening. We always receive great service here, and tonight was no different. I didn't grab the waitress's name, but she had a red (bandana print) headband on. She was very attentive, without being overbearing in any way. Our drinks were always full, and she always had a smile. I got the barbecue pulled chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got a burger. I hesitated to try Famous Dave's for years because I thought their concept seemed in poor taste. While the decor is indeed a little tacky, such as the walls coated with old license plates and old fashioned gas pump memorabilia, the food turned out to be pretty amazing. Just about everything I've tried off the menu is "pretty good" at worst. I've never found chicken wings I prefer more than Famous Dave's traditional wings. Their fried foods -- chicken strips, french fries, catfish fingers, etc. -- are spiced with a flavor I've never encountered elsewhere, making dipping sauces optional. Even their burgers have an extra pow to their taste. Their sides are also superb -- one advantage to coming in the evening is that most dishes come with two sides, instead of the lunch menu's single side. Fries, coleslaw, beans, drunken apples... it's all above and beyond well made. Even their broccoli is cooked with an extra tasty flavor. They have my favorite assortment of barbecue sauces. Too many restaurants only offer "sweet," "sweeter," and "sweetest" sauces, but Famous Dave's isn't afraid to change it up with some smokey flavors and spicy options, limiting the sweet-focused sauces to just the Rich & Sassy as well as the Sweet & Zesty. Devil's Spit has a pretty strong kick to it, but the only sauce that really brings a burn is the Wilbur's Revenge -- which you'll have to specifically request, as they don't keep it at the table. While I've had spicier, Wilbur's Revenge is absolutely not for sensitive tongues. Their menu's biggest weakness is probably that their dessert is so limited. There are only a small handful of options -- most of which come with nuts in them, making them very allergy-unfriendly. I can't say I'm sad to have an excuse to not chow down on sugar at the end of a meal though, especially when the dinner portions are already plenty filling. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that I've had a streak of bad luck here. Three or four times now my entree has been overcooked and dry, twice after a very long wait (which is doubly odd, because normally the food arrives quite quickly) so I was too hungry to send it back and wait for a replacement to cook. I did send back an overcooked order of catfish once and the difference in taste when I tried the new batch was night and day. When cooked properly, the food at Famous Dave's makes my tastebuds dance. read more

Long awaited trip to Famous Dave's (http://www.famousdaves.com/home) a chain BBQ restaurant found in the midwest and craved on the East Coast! We had hardly been in Iowa for 6 hours before rushing to indulge in authentic BBQ. Starting our feast with our beloved burnt ends that are so hard to find on the East Coast. Truly cooked to perfection and served as typical burnt ends should be, cubed and diced coated in a light BBQ sauce. The thin layer of fat tops a tender cut of meat that takes days to smoke to perfection. One of the fun parts of Famous Daves is their variety of sauces, from mild to blazing hot! All labeled with their unique names, Sweet & Zesty, Rich & Sassy, Texas Pit, and Devils Spit. The only sauce not pictured is Wilber's Revenge... a WILDLY hot sauce sure to seek it's revenge in one way or another. The combination platters allow you to chose the meats you want paired with the sides of your choosing. This combo plate has Memphis Ribs and tender Brisket. The ribs fell off the bones, and the brisket was slow cooked to perfection, with a tender mouth watering flavor only possible when slow cooking meat. The Brisket Sandwich, was just as delightful as the brisket slices prepared on the platter. This sandwich was topped with a light BBQ sauce, tender and shredded placed on top of a grilled bun. We ended our meal with a complementary bread pudding, due to it being BBQ week! This is not our typical choice for dessert, but we are always willing to try new items. Typically bread pudding is a very hit and miss item with a variety of flavors and textures from place to place. This particular Bread Pudding was topped with a caramelized sauce and paired with a vanilla bean ice cream. The bread pudding was perfectly prepared, sure to not be soggy, but a light fluffy texture with a creamy filling caused this bread pudding to receive all 5 stars from our table - a 5 star dessert (at a BBQ joint!) The unlikely results of a chain BBQ restaurant, seem to surprise people every visit. The truly authentic flavors and slow cooked rich smokey flavors keep bringing us back time and time again... My experience is Famous Dave's vary from location to location. The location in Sioux City is better the most when I meet there for lunch regularly. The lunch prices are OK and service is generally good. Today my Tuesday lunch today was canceled so I ordered online for pickup. To be honest the experience was pretty horrible. Starting with the online menu - the "two for you lunch" said it was $10.50.... but you had to select two items. Every possible selection was $1.89 more. That was frustrating, it's not really $10.50 like it online menu says but actually $14.28 plus extras plus tax. My total was $15.55. That seems like a lot for small bowl of luke warm chili and a "loaded" potato. The "loaded" potato turned out to be just butter, cheese, sour cream and a half teaspoon of bacon bits at the bottom of a cup, which was underwhelming. When I got back to my office two blocks away to eat I discovered the chili leaked all over the bag because the top was not on completely, there was no pepper in the bag, and there was no corm muffin as promised. The service was OK. I order this same meal all the time inside and it's good and less expensive, so maybe my expectations were for something similar. I'm visiting Sioux City for work and Famous Dave's is next to my hotel so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the famous ribs and a side of potato salad and steamed broccoli. Well, the ribs were cold and old. I could tell they were made a while before they were served. The broccoli had mold all over it. If I didn't look before eating, I'm sure I would have eaten a full portion of moldy vegetables and gotten myself sick. The potato salad was warm, I'm pretty sure that's not how that should be. Overall, my experience at Famous Dave's was pretty bad considering. I would recommend only visiting this place during peak hours and I suggest taking a close look at your sides before you eat.
