I have been here four times now and the food has always been delicious. This last time I order from Yelp and picked up my order. I ordered their Ruben which is always amazing but they didn't add the extras I ordered. I was a little bummed about it but it was still delicious. My hubby ordered the waffle sandwich without cheese but they still put it in. He ate it anyway and said the sandwich was good but wouldn't get it again. He absolutely loved my Ruben. We both hate rye bread and aren't too fond of corned beef but I crave this sandwich. It is the best rye I've ever had. This is a cute place to have breakfast in downtown Sioux City. It is bright as the name implies- nice and sunlit. The best part was the breakfast BURRITOS. We got the chorizo classic and the Brightside burrito with green sauce. THEY WERE SO SO DELICIOUS. The hashbrowns were perfect too. I'll be thinking about those burritos for a while. read more

I'm not a big fan of buffets and if I would have known this restaurant had only the buffet I probably would not have stopped. With that said it was a Sunday morning and I found myself in need of breakfast and I saw the very good reviews for Brightside. I got there an hour before it closed so I guess I can understand why the food was warmed over and it was obviously sitting there for hours. I ordered some orange juice and hit the buffet. It was just ok and the service was 0k as well. The only thing that really got under my skin was a fellow diner who thought it was appropriate to carry on a phone conversation in full voice using their speakerphone for the duration. Not quite sure why people think that's OK in a restaurant, but it is what it is. Maybe it would've been appropriate for the R restaurant manager to make a mention of the disturbance to that particular customer but that is their decision. My husband got the Brightside melt and thought it had good flavor as well. I am giving only 3 stars, as I think it was expensive for what you got. Sandwich only. No sides, not even a bag of chips. Combined our lunch was around $25 for two small sandwiches. To order a side of fries or sweet potato fries, it was an addition $3-$4. Just seems a little steep. Found this restaurant close to my hotel, so I decided to swing by. Customer service was excellent, the cashier knew the menu well! I ordered the classic breakfast burrito with chorizo and sausage, the breakfast taco with chorizo, and the creamy green sauce which has a kick of spice to it. All of the food was delicious. It was nice and fresh, and although all of the flavors were mild, once put together they made a flavorful impact. I hope to visit Sioux City again so I can enjoy more of their food! read more

It's Thursday December 13, 2018. I came by myself; first time here. I needed a quick lunch and a friend of mine comes here all the time and loves it! So, I decided to try it for myself, even tho I was alone. Plus I got a parking spot RIGHT in front, so why not?!? I ordered the buffalo chicken salad minus the pico and tomatoes. (I'm not a huge vegetable eater. Trying to work on that, actually.) It. Was. Delicious!!! The buffalo was hot but not so hot you're going to regret it later. I love that they use actual mixed greens and not just iceburg lettuce. Their ranch is very good. (I assume it's made in-house. If not, I need to know the brand they use!) Pepsi products. Not a ton of soda options, FYI. Used the bathroom. 1 person only. Was very clean. I guess they deliver! And I noticed most people get stuff to go. We ate breakfast here as a last-minute decision on Saturday, July 1 (aka: we were hungry). I had the Brightside Omelet since it was gluten-free and hubs had the same thing in a skillet. The rest of the day we just weren't hungry, so we didn't eat anything. I chalked it up to us eating later than usual, but started to find it strange that I still wasn't hungry by around 4pm. *Warning: Graphic* Just after 7pm the nausea started. We both got VERY sick. Based on the "sickness" (you can use your imagination here), we figured out it was the eggs that made us sick. I contacted the restaurant via their Facebook page as soon as I was able to be upright again for a few minutes, but we were so sick all night long. The reason they're getting 3 stars instead of 1 is because the food actually WAS pretty good (tasty), the waitstaff was friendly (a little eccentric, but friendly!) and they were very responsive to my message and refunded us for our entire meal. I appreciate how they handled the situation. They claimed we're the only ones that contacted them about being sick so it was probably undercooked eggs and "hopefully an isolated incident." I'm writing this review only so others can honestly evaluate for themselves whether they'd want to try this place. read more

We decided to come here based on yelp reviews, looked like a cute local breakfast spot. When we arrived, the hostess/server notified us that they were doing breakfast buffet only. Not ideal, but we went with it. We sat down and she took our drink order of coffee and orange juice. Not sure we ever saw her again after that.... The buffet was maybe the strangest thing I've ever seen. Once table was biscuits and gravy, sausage, and scrambled eggs. Next table was french toast sticks, potatoes, and chips and salsa (?). Then there was a salad bar, pulled pork, steamed vegetables, etc....and a dessert table that had several different jello molds. It was just a very odd combination!! The breakfast would have been ok, but I wouldn't say it was any better than the free breakfast we could've ate at our hotel. Eggs were cold, and everything else was just meh. For the price, definitely was not worth it. We paid our tab via the QR code on the table, and got the heck out of there. read more

Based on previous reviews we came over from North Sioux City for a late breakfast. I had basic ham and eggs with house potatoes and my DH had pancakes. The food was okay. The pancakes were a bit tough, but not bad. The house potatoes were forgettable, I didn't bother finishing them. My main complaint was the number of tables that were left full of plates after the customers were gone. By the time we left there were 6 dirty tables, at least two of which were in the same condition as when we arrived. I understand that staffing might be an issue in this part of the country, so that might explain the tables and the lack of prompt service. read more

Great atmosphere, spectacular service, and extraordinary food! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who visits the Sioux City area. We were met right away when we walked in and immediately seated. They have quotes and Bible verses all over the walls which kept our attention. We always want to eat at locally owned restaurants when we are on the road. We were visiting our home town of Sioux City for Easter weekend and wanted to meet family for breakfast. I suggested Brightside as I had heard good things about it and had never been there. We arrived at approximately 9:30 am on Saturday morning and there was a sign out saying "Please Wait to be Seated". There were 3-4 tables empty and a few being cleared. While we waited, staff walked past us, clearing tables and attending to seated guests. At least 4 staff members walked within 6 feet of us while attending to their duties, and others were looking out from the back. No one said hello. No one offered to seat us. No one would even make eye contact with us, including the young girl bussing tables that we stepped aside for while she made her way to clear another table. This went on for 10 minutes and we finally left and went somewhere else. 2 other groups came and left while we were waiting. If you don't want to be open, treating guests this way is a great way to accomplish that goal. read more
