Instead, they fixed the sound of metal on metal that usually signals worn brakes--but my pads still had plenty of life left. This wasn't the first time Joe put honesty before profit. On a previous visit, he sent me to the dealer because my issue was likely under warranty--turning down business to save me money. Both times, he charged me next to nothing, and honestly, I felt guilty. I first met Joe because he did amazing work for my son, and now I won't go anywhere else. Twice now, he's had the opportunity to do unnecessary work, and twice he's proven his integrity. I even told him most places would have just taken my money. I specifically asked for a quote on MY make and model car and they quoted 5 qts... Wait it gets better... They also charged me an extra $14.95 for an oil filter!! $3 for oil disposal and $1.99 for shop supplies. Never in my 20 yrs of driving and getting oil changes have I ever had to pay extra for a filter, shop supplies or to dispose of oil! THEY ONLY REVEALED ADDITIONAL CHARGES AFTER THE JOB WAS DONE WHICH WAS DONE ON PURPOSE TO DECEIVE ME CONSIDERING THE OIL AND FILTER COSTS $38 BUCKS. So the original $74.95 turned into over $100 QUOTE YOUR CUSTOMERS ACCURATELY BEFORE YOU TOUCH THEIR CARS. Would have gotten 5 stars if I paid what was quoted. He told me his mechanic accross the street had totally checked it out and it was 100% with no issues. Well within a week of driving it the engine light was coming on and it needed a $600 fuel sensor from the dealer. To be fair Neil told me to bring the car back in and he would have his local mechanic look at it, but that would include driving it to him which is about 1.5 hours away and then having to come back later and pick it up and no guarantee he would cover whatever he found. Also why would anyone want to take a car back to a mechnic that overlooked something as simple as checking the codes? And would a local mechanic be able to figure out a code a larger shop could not that required taking it to the dealer? But the thing that irritated me was that the Firestone and then the dealer both found that there was a history of this issue in the car's computer going back and that the battery had been disconnected at points to reset the alarms versus fixing it. While I can't say that Neil or his mechanic did that, if his mechanic had truly checked the car out as reported one of the standard checks is to check the computer for any codes, he would have found error codes in the car's computer in spades.
