I can't believe I never reviewed this place! When I lived in Phoenix I saw Marina religiously and she was the only hair stylist I have ever seen that got my color absolutely beautiful and perfect. On the one occasion that it was nice they fixed it without issue. I have since visited Aveda salons in the San Diego area with no luck and wish I could fly out to Phoenix every two months to see Marina! This salon is EVERYTHING. I was expecting "just" an all over color appointment but what I received was so much more! I was blown away by the 5 star treatment I received here. I felt like a celebrity. Santana was my stylist. I asked her to please color my ends to match my natural root color and she absolutely nailed it without compromising the integrity of my hair. She steamed my hair while the color was processing (which really helps the cuticle open and the color to penetrate) and that was very relaxing. While she was blow drying my hair, A girl came over to give me a hand scrub and massage treatment, which was a totally unexpected yet welcome surprise. I left that salon feeling like a million dollars. I got so much more than what I paid for. I wish I had discovered this place sooner as I'm going to move in a few months but I WILL be back. I absolutely love Perry Monge Salon! I have been going there since 2004 and it has never disappointed. The entire staff is friendly and makes you feel right at home. Marina is amazing with hair...I only wish she could style my hair every morning! I was in the market for a new stylist since mine fled the Phoenix scene in search of cooler weather in Colorado. I went to my Aveda store to pick up some products and there was a stylist from Perry Monge, Marie Luce ( sp?) gave me a coupon for 20.00 off so I decided to give it a try. OMG. From the moment I walked in I felt like royalty. I think I was getting the first time service but not only did I get one of the best haircuts, a styling, a 5 minute back massage, a very thorough hand massage, a facial ( yep),eyebrow waxing, a make-up refresher and an iced cappuccino. I wound up buying 3 products but I always buy something Aveda when I go so it wasn't a hard sell. I love my new look-my skin looks amazing and the total cost was 122.00 What?! I had a 20.00 off coupon but still.... It was brilliant marketing. I have found a new stylist and I will be faithful in getting a facial each time I go because it's so worth it. I have been going to the Perry Monge Salon for about 14 years. I love this place!! If you are Latina, have curly hair, and cannot find anyone to cut your hair and/or style it because of the curl, this is your place! Saturdays are busy, but I try to avoid them. I am lucky, I work downtown so I am able to make an appt. right after work and not have to deal with the craziness of Saturdays. Being a client for so long, I have tried their spa, waxing services, and of course hair services, and and happy with everything! I have even recommended this salon to many friends and family, all of whom are still loyal clients. An added bonus, my husband and I joined the Aveda Pure Privilege program, it took us approx. 4 years of saving our points, but in 2011, we had a 6 night stay in Jamaica! It was absolutely wonderful. We stayed at the Caves in Negril complete with complimentary massages. Since then we have saved another 44,000 points and are looking forward to booking our 3 night stay in Antigua next year when we reach 50,000 points. read more

I was referred to Alma, at the Perry Monge Aveda Salon in 2005, when I first moved to PHX. Due to their great customer service, and great cut/style, I have never went anywhere else. Each service comes with a mini back massage - which is a great perk. I had not went to Perry in so many years!! I decided i wanted to get pampered and a good hair cut so i made an appt with Jennifer. When i got there, everything was beautiful and it was so presentable. Not to mention that the staff was extremely polite and professional, they made me feel like i was home. I got to Jennifer and she took a look at my hair and she made a face in disgust because my hair was not the prettiest looking. I know prior to going in my hair was severely damaged, but it made me feel uneasy when she made faces in disgust while touching my hair. That kind of made me want to leave but i decided to give it a chance. That was the reason i went initially was to get help with my hair and unfortunately Jennifer made me feel not so great about it. Nevertheless, When the haircut part came around, i was so satisfied and pleased with the beautiful look. Gladly, the amazing work she did made up for how she made me feel when she looked at my hair. I went in for a simple, everyday, ordinary haircut. TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY THREE (that's $273.00) later, I came home with products I just HAD-TO-HAVE pushed on me like drug dealers by everyone from the stylist, the shampoo girl, the facial girl, the counter girls, who just wouldn't take "NO" for an answer and are very well-trained to "put you on the spot" in front of other customers so as to embarrass you, and "trick" you into buying something you really don't need just to boost their commission sales. Jennifer hasn't the foggiest notion how to properly complete a man's haircut. She neglected to trim the sideburns, ear, nose, eyebrow, and neck hair, even though I asked her, to which she responded, "We have people who do that!" (for an extra charge!) and suggested I spend more money to have another girl wax these areas. WTF? Are you kidding me here? REALLY? On the lighter note, I am getting a so-called complimentary facial. Definitely a place where you should prepare yourself to be accosted by staff to spend more money! read more

I'm basically an upbeat positive person...but some days I'm not my normal corky self. I arrived at Perry Monge flumoxed and in a bad mood--a special event meant that all nearby lots cost $12 for parking. Spending $12 for parking is spendy for a day in San Francisco...but in Phoenix for an hour? Please. I mentioned this to the poised woman at the check-in desk who said that next time I should park in the lot at their building where they validated parking. She then brough out a yummy iced tea for me to sip while filling out the new client form. I went to the bathroom, which featured a delightful scented candle, and then Sandy (?) brought me to the changing room and then my chair. A surprise: shortly after sitting down in the barber chair a woman brought me over to have my shampoo--and gave me a brief massage first. The massage/shampoo woman had a very positive energy to her. Marina cut my hair and, although she was not much of a talker, was upbeat and gave me a great cut. I've been looking for a great place in Phoenix and found it. No one will ever compare to my beloved Cid at Barbarella in San Francisco, but I do have a new favorite salon locally in the Valley of the Sun. read more

I have been going to Perry Monge Salon for about a year now and up until recently was very pleased with their atmosphere and customer service. Unfortunately the last the last two experiences I had were below expectations and I will not be returning. A few weeks ago I made an appointment with the same hairstylist I have been seeing on a Saturday. Walking into the salon it was very clear that they were busy. I arrived on time and was also brought back on time. I was introduced to a young woman who had recently started and was told she would start me off by washing my hair. She must have not been trained very well because she shook my head like I was in a washing machine and I had a splitting headache following. My hairstylist came to check on me and noted that my hair did not "smell clean" and re-washed it. I have quite a bit of hair which I am aware of however the rest of my appointment was very rushed due to their busy schedule and I left feeling like I could have done a better job on my own. After 2 weeks with the hasty haircut I received I decided to give them another chance on a less busy day. I went in on a early Friday afternoon and the salon had a much calmer atmosphere. Everything was fine up until receiving the actual haircut. To save time my hairstylist was cutting my hair as she straightened it. This would have been fine except for the hair was very disjointed and she had to cut my hair much shorter than I originally wanted. It was clear to me that she had another customer waiting and was trying to finish me up quickly. I am very frustrated at this point because I absolutely hate my haircut and paid twice to have it done correctly. Perry Monge Salon needs to focus more on their customers and less on how much product they can sell. This was the last time they will be receiving my time and money. Very disappointed. read more

I'm a person of habit and very skeptic when it comes to trusting a place with my hair. My friend referred me here and it was the most amazing experience I ever had at a salon! As you walk in you are getting welcomed and they ask you what drink you would like. Then Jennifer the hairstylist came over to me and gave me a small tour and then sat me down in her chair. She made sure I was comfortable cutting my long hair super short, from there we went to a massage chair where she gave me a neck and back massage. Then I got my hair washed, then back to the chair for a cut. As she's cutting my hair another person comes over and gives me an arm and hand massage. I chopped my hair at least 12 inches, Jennifer and the whole team was amazing from beginning to end. I made sure to get her card and booked my next appointment. They even touch up your makeup before you leave, and was glad I got to meet Perry as well - who is an awesome funny guy! So happy to have finally found my go-to place! read more

This salon is one of the best I've visited, certainly one of the best in PHX. I've moved around quite a bit, and this location provides a truly authentic and completely relaxing salon experience. The stylists are incredibly friendly and total professionals, and the owner is usually on site, making sure customers are happy, smiling. They have a great selection of retail, and are always on time. While getting my cut, I usually receive an additional service, and that makes the trip downtown all the more nice. I just visited Perry Monge Salon for the first time yesterday. My only regret is that I had not gone to visit them sooner. After years of bad haircuts and color and stylists not listening to what I wanted, I went for a whole year without having my hair cut or colored. I decided to try Perry Monge after researching online and reading the reviews. I could tell they were different immediately when I called to book my appointment and they wanted to know a little bit about myself and my hair so that they could properly pair me with a stylist. I will say that the parking is a tad bit inconvenient but on the bright side they do validate parking and your car is in a covered garage away from the heat. I was paired with Jamie and was so happy with my experience. We started with a consultation where she really listened and gave me the exact color and cut that I asked for and even though this is a high end salon, the prices were the same as I what I paid at other salons. In addition though, and included with my services, I received a relaxing hand treatment and scalp massage and a discount for new clients. I also like that they are a full service spa so I can go and get all my services in one place. I am so pleased with the service and will definetly return. Don't waste your money here... stylist totally diregarded my desires, applied chemical process and then vanished for 45 minutes, leaving me under lights until another stylist came along to applly a clear sealer over my transparent, over processed hair. Then the originaly stylist came back to suggest I put a color over it. Needless to say, the hair quickly fell out. You've been warned. read more

Sabrina did a spectacular job on my long hair, making it wavy and full exactly the way I like it. I came from out of town so was apprehensive for my first time at Perry Monge, but was welcomed and felt comfortable and in excellent hands the minute I walked in the door. I had two huge upcoming events, and my hairstyle lasted beautifully for more than a week. Sabrina was especially attentive to my preferences, and explained everything, including products she suggested and used, all along the way. Jamie gave me a fabulous complimentary hand and arm massage. They also offered complimentary makeup touchup, and if I'd had time I would have jumped at it. I was especially thrilled to meet Perry Monge himself at the salon, and to be able to tell him what a great experience his salon is and how professional and gracious his staff. I can tell you for 10 yrs i lived here in Az and I been to alot of salons, but this salon is one of the worst to me because of prices and disrespect. I went in for an appointment, and as soon as I walked in, I was offered a beverage which I loved that and then they came and got me for my shampoo and the assistant was super nice and then I was taken to the stylist and that was Sandy and she is an excellent stylist with a great attitude, just a very nice woman. Now this is where I was disappointed, I seen a manager I guess that is what she was, talking to some of the other employees like they were dirt. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and I will not say what was said, but it was not nice and it made me very uncomfortable. These girls in my eyes get treated like crap, and is disrespected from the way I seen this "AMAZON" I think her name is Patricia, talk to a couple of them. Like she really has alot of room to talk down to anyone. Then I had products pushed onto me and I was like "no thank you" and they just kept pushing, finally I gave in and $250 later I walked out and will never return. I think that those ladies in their deserve respect and I don't believe they get it. That lady needs a good butt kicking. If that was my family member she would of had problems. Nice salon overall and perry is a nice man but that lady is very mean and that, I don't like. read more
