I had a small leak and brought my car here for a quote. Diego called me back and gave me what seemed like a high quote for the job. (I don't know a ton about cars but I know enough). I brought my car elsewhere to get another quote. The second shop explained to me exactly what needed fixing, and that I didn't need both of the parts Perry had recommended, because the leak was coming from a plastic part, not the actual hose. HORRIBLE! Vehicle returned in condition not legal for road use. Brought my car in because it overheated and turned off on a road trip. They ran some tests and told me it was the radiator and that i also needed a new alternator. $1,400 for that is a little bit pricey to begin with, but when i pick up my car after that, I don't expect a massive amount of electrical problems that never existed until your "mechanic" messed with my wiring system. Now my speedometer doesn't work and constantly goes to random speeds, my electric system light is constantly flickering, as-is 1 of my 2 headlights that now works (both worked fine before getting dropped off!) The mechanic makes excuses and after weeks of giving them the benefit of the doubt to do something about the warranty on their low-quality work, they just leave me voicemails of "oh well it turns on now". sorry, but you destroying my electrical system to the point of surges, break loss, guages not working, lights now working, etc. this is literally negligence by the mechanic. I gave you the opportunity to fix this and let a real mechanic fix your issue since your only answer was for me to take off a week of work, drive 8 hours to you, and wait while you figure out what you did wrong in the first place then drive back spending hundreds on gas for your mistake. I've filed a report with the BBB. AVOID this place, they do terrible work and don't own up to their mistakes. read more

My wife and I were traveling this week, pulling a travel trailer when my truck broke down at a gas station, unhitched from my travel trailer, which was at our site in the State Campground. AAA was called and a tow truck was dispatched. AAA also recommended a local auto mechanic and we authorized towing my truck to the recommended mechanic. However, while waiting for the tow truck to arrive we called the mechanic and were told that they probably wouldn't be able to even diagnose the problem, let alone repair the problem for about a week. We were now faced with a decision to possibly have our truck towed further away to the most local Dodge dealership, because we needed a more rapid repair than the recommended mechanic could provide, as our reservation at the campground was done the next day and we would need to deal with that as well. Fast forward to Jesse, the tow truck driver from Chuck's Towing arriving to help us. He quickly diagnosed the problem and assured my wife and I that Perry's Automotive could find the part and fix it first thing in the morning for us to rescue our trailer in time. Jesse got my truck started and followed us back to Perry's. Within 30 minutes, Nicole from Perry's called to confirm that they found the part needed and would make the repairs in the morning. Jesse even offered to come to the campground to tow our trailer back to Perry's if the Campground insisted we remove the trailer. As an aside, the campground staff were very gracious to our predicament and told us not to worry, till 2 o'clock, when our site would technically belong to whoever had the reservation. Perry's and its' staff were amazing. They went out of their way to help with every aspect of our situation. We really feel that they went out of their way to help, and made the repairs for a very reasonable price, and mostly were so, so reassuring. They didn't have to be, we weren't locals that they could count on repeat business. We were travelers in a bad spot. If you are local to Morro Bay, I highly recommend you give Perry's the opportunity to be your mechanic. Thank you to everyone that helped us. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place use to do good work a year ago before they fired ALL their mechanics. But now they are beyond awful and unethical. We took our Honda Civic who had only been previously seen and had ALL maintenance and upkeep done on time and anything that was needed by Honda themselves into Perry's knowing it needed a new battery and an oil change. We had seen them prior to them firing all their mechanics which we loved, this time seeing a mechanic Diego, told us we needed a new tensioner. Having a weird feeling we decided to not get it done and to seek a second opinion and not just a second opinion but a third by going to Honda themselves to really make sure. Sadly and completely beyond sad this place has gone so far down hill Perry's tried to scam us. BOTH place we got second opinion on said no we did not need the tensioner and not just that but we got an email after we saw Perry's from Perry's saying we needed even more work that he never even said to us. So I'm absolutely disappointed and discussed by this place and I feel bad for anyone who takes their vehicles to them. They are a dishonorable mechanics shop and are absolutely not to be trusted anymore. PLEASE BEWARE. Being out of morro bay and having a high elderly community, scares me that this place feels they can steal from their community. read more

I can only give a minimum of one star for this review, it deserves zero stars. Never go to Perry's automotive in morro bay. My clutch line disconnected from the slave cylinder. I went there to get my clutch line fixed and replaced if needed. I explicitly said that if the parts needed to be replaced, REPLACE THEM. When they called and said the truck was ready to be picked up, they told me what they had done to fix it, and said that they just plugged the line back in and recommended I replace the parts, RIGHT AFTER I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THEM JUST A FEW HOURS EARLIER. Then on the way home, the clutch line disconnected again. Thank God I was a block from my house. I won't be returning to Perry's to have them fix the problem, because they already had their chance to fix it, nor will I not recommend anyone to Perry's. read more

I had to wait days before I could get in for oil change. Day of appointment, I was told it would be an hour. I received a call that the battery needed to be replaced, the filters needed to be replaced, the transmission needed to be flushed, etc... but they'll do it for an estimated $500. Not your friendly neighborhood mechanic who's looking out for you. Go the Hinson next door. I sure wish I had. read more

So I have gone to Perry's a couple of times and it was one of the worse mistaks I have ever made. Went there because I knew the manager and though he would make sure it was taken care of. I had them do a motor swap. Told them to replace plugs and coils on the new used motor. Well I got the car back and went to do an oil change. I had missing bolts I had Phillips big course screws in spots where normal 10mm bolts should be also left off parts and threw them away I went back and told them about the problems and this time he said they would make sure it wouldn't happen again. well guess what same crap and they never changed coils or plugs (didn't even look at them and they were missing seals and bolts) . do not ever take your car to Perry's unless you want to have it get screw up in the process and have to fix the problem that they claimed to plus fix the issues they caused. I spent over 6,000 dollars with them and they only caused more problems for me. I wouldn't even send my worst enemy to this hack of a shop. Their so called mechanics are hacks and o ly care about getting the job done as quick as possible and will cut corners and leave out bolts just to get it done. Even if you tell them the problems they caused and if the manger says they will make sure it doesnot happen again. yes full of crap and they don't give a crap. people make mistakes no problem as long as they correct it and make sure not to do them again. But the fake mechanics at perry don't care and are too lazy to find the correct bolts they took out and will leave out bolts just to get the car to drive away. They offer a tail light warranty so when they can not see the tails lights it's not their problem. DO NOT EVER TAKE your car to Perry's auto unless you like to spend more then double whatever their bill is and like finding a mechanic to fix their mechanics screw ups. I hope they go out of business. Also the manager is full of shit when he says he will make sure it's done correctly. He doesn't care and will not do anything about it. read more

They performed a diagnostic exam of the dash A/C in my small RV and quickly determined it was low on refrigerant. After refilling the system and checking for leaks, the dash air is blowing air at less than 40 degrees F! Great job job guys and thanks! read more

Can't be happier. My truck died the Friday before Christmas. I had it towed to the shop around noon. I explained i was headed to the valley for Christmas and was trying to leave on Sunday. Although they made me no promises, i received a called two hours later with an estimate and diagnosis. They had me back on the road by 4:30! I was part of a small caravan of women traveling through Morro Bay with our travel trailers when my truck started to experience performance issues. I contacted the first auto repair listed on Yelp and he couldn't fit me in, so he recommended two other places. Perry's was the first of the two that I called and the gentleman I spoke to was patient as I described my problem and told me to bring it in. When I arrived a diagnostic was immediately run on my truck. The problem turned out to be an ignition coil. A local parts supplier was contacted and the part replaced. I don't think I was there over and hour. The gentleman I had spoke to on the phone backed my truck and trailer for me out onto a busy street and we were on our way again. The other ladies traveling with me and I could not believe how quick and inexpensive this vehicle repair was. One thing that I really appreciated was that at no time was I treated like I was stupid, even though some of the questions I asked were not the brightest. When our car battery died on a trip up the coast, AAA sent us an employee's of Perry's Automotive. We had had battery problems before and thought we might need a new one, so after he jumped us we followed him to the shop. The guys at Perry's were wonderful -- professional, fast, fair and really nice. They checked out our battery, found us a new one and installed it in a flash. Was given the run around when trying to solve a simple problem. Was told to return multiple times without any resolution. It turns out they didn't notice two simple things, oil leaking into the oil plug wells and the ignition rotor was badly corroded. This took 5 minutes to check and solved my hard starting problems. Went to Shorty & Sons and wound up saving hundreds of dollars. Literally, Hundreds of dollars in labor and misdiagnosing. read more
