If I could have put no starts, I would do so as well. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE unless you want them to be mistreated the same way a dog owner would... We used this service twice, and both times, after picking up a dog, he was scratching himself quite a lot, which led us to believe that the shampoo used was not appropriate for him. We forgot to mention this to the owner of the shop last time, and ended up with the same story/issue. We've taken him to the vet to see if he has any allergies and requires meds, a vet confirmed that he has no genetic problems, and we need to ask his grooming place to use a different shampoo. I just reached out to the owner over the text , since our appointment is tomorrow, and he got bent out of shape about this simple question, like I am asking him to invent a new formula. He said he is cancelling my appointment as he does not have time to deal with the shampoo issues. When I asked not to cancel anything, just let me know if a different shampoo can be used, he said that he believes it is not a shampoo(I guess he knows more than a Vet) and hung up the phone on me. IT IS BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE AND NON CUSTOMER CENTRIC.! I highly recommend to ignore this place and find a different place to give your money to...not worth an aggravation read more

Perry is NOT a nice groomer, if he yells at his customers can you imagine what he's doing TO YOUR POOR DOG. I've witnessed him throw tantrums and be abusive. We actually found Perry's Pet Grooming after reading positive reviews on Yelp. My shih tzu has been going to Perry since his very first groom, about 3 years now. I take him pretty much every 4 weeks. I leave him in the morning and pick him up around 1:00 when I'm done with work. Today I was a little early and got to see my little guy getting his haircut. I was so happy to see how happy and good he was. His tail was wagging and he was "smiling". Didn't even go nuts when he saw me because he was still being pampered. His grooms always look great and I do love the way he smells after a groom. And we also love the toy he gets to go home with. They also get an appropriate bandana depending on the holiday that is coming up. I can't even imagine anyone else grooming my fur baby!!!!!! Thanks Perry! You're the best! read more

9/21/16 just a few minutes after my original post below: UPDATE - And as if it couldn't get worse, Perry saw this review and two minutes later decided to call me and say the following "it's a shame you accused me of cutting your dog, it's a shame you wrote that nasty yelp review, it's a shame you burned this bridge....good luck with your nasty dog" and hung up. Is this "man" for real??? I just made an appointment with the vet and if it turns out to be a different issue, then I will take down my review. But I have a feeling the vet will confirm my suspicion. All I can do is laugh at your ridiculousness because if I don't laugh then I'll cry. Not only did you hurt my dog by accident but now you're hurting me on purpose. Lucky for me, I believe in karma. :) 9/21/16-Never thought I'd say this but Perry is the most UNPROFESSIONAL pet groomer in the business. He has ZERO compassion and will not take accountability for his mistakes. I've been bringing my dog to him for about a year and I'm always happy with his work. The last time I brought him in, however, changed everything. He cut my dog in two places on his chest. I called the salon to speak with him about it (calmly) and you could hear him in the background yelling and screaming that he didn't do it. He finally got on the phone, told me to take my dog to the vet and prove that they were cuts from the groomer and then HUNG UP the phone before I could say a word. By the way, I wasn't even accusing him of cutting my dog. I was simply asking them what happened because I was surprised they didn't bring it to my attention. Never in my life have I experienced such terrible customer service. He did a terrible job and HURT my dog, refuses to take responsibility for his actions and yells at his PAYING customers? All I can do is hope that it doesn't happen again....but something tells me it's not the last time. You've been warned! read more

I have been to more then a few dog groomers in Nassau county and I have a horrible story to tell about all of them. From stealing her collar, sending her home with someone else and cutting her nails so short they wouldn't stop bleeding. So I haven't taken Lexy to a groomer in a awhile for the fear of the next worst thing that could happen to her. I have drove by Perry's a few times and was always impressed with how clean and boutique like the place looked from the outside. Today I finally called and made an appt. When I arrived I told Perry all of my concerns with past experiences and he put me at ease with understanding my concerns and even showing me in the back with how clean it was. Every cage had its own bed and the dogs in them looked very at ease and not stressed at all. The whole place was actually immaculate which was also impressive. After the little tour we went over the cut in detail and if I had any concerns or specifications. He called me when she was done and when I came and got her he told me how she was and I know she could be a little pain, but I could tell they were very good with her. She did not look stressed at all like other places I brought her to. I told him she didn't like bows so he put a cute bandana on her and gave her a little toy for free. This is definitely going to be Lexy's new groomer and I would recommend this place to everyone who wants the special care in a clean place for their little furrbaby! read more

Owner is disgusting the way he spoke to me on the phone he should be ashamed of himself !

While waiting at the front desk to pick up my dog I witnessed one of Perry's groomers handling a dog that was getting groomed in a manner that seemed awkward to me.  Of course I don't know what it takes to groom a dog and it must call for some patience but I then noticed the groomer grab the dog extremely forcefully by the neck.  Trust me that what I witnessed was not cool!    To make matters worse I ask to speak to Perry privately in the waiting area so I can advise him of what I saw.  Perry comes out & didn't even give me a chance to explain properly of what I saw.  He immediately started yelling at me saying, 'How dare you tell me about my employees, all my employees are hard working  good workers!"   I was completely stunned by the way he turned this on me.  While I was trying to make my point he got louder and started screaming, take your dog and get out of my store, don't ever come back.  He picks up the phone and threatens to call the police by saying that I was harassing him.  Unbelievable!! Why would I make this up!! Just moved to the area and was looking for a place to get my dog groomed when I came across Perry's Pet Grooming. I called to make an appointment and they were booked pretty far out but said they'd call in the event someone had to cancel and I was able to get in within a few days or so. They did a fantastic job with my corgi (bath/brush/nails/slight corgi-butt shape-up). She looks and smells great and it was very affordable. Will definitely be bringing her back for regular grooming after this experience! read more

Poor customer service!!! after calling for days without a response, I walked in to make an appt for my dogs. As I walked in, I could hear him complaining about a dog on the table and how tired he was of this dog. He came to the front and told me he could not deal with me today and to find another groomer before I could say anything. I turned around and told him to have a great day and thanked him for the great customer service. He followed me to the street and cursed me out as I got in my car and told me how shi--y my dogs were... take your business somewhere else to someone that actually cares about your pets and actually has a bit more customer service!!! read more

I'm Perry's first customer and I have heralded his skills as a pet groomer and a dog whisperer for the last 4 years. He got my dog Roxy over her fear of grooming tools and going to pet groomers so I can't thank him enough. However, I took my dog Roxy in yesterday and while I realize he may be harried ( due to his popularity ) his customer service attitude needs some assistance ASAP. He seemed annoyed and made me feel uncomfortable when he told me " you hardly ever take her to be groomed" and he was almost rude to my companion who helps me with Roxy. My friend made an innocent comment to break the ice so to speak, and Perry's reaction seemed annoyed, as if my friend was being nasty. I was a bit embarrassed bc I had said such amazing things about Perry. This was not the first time I had a run in with Perry. Previously due to a misunderstanding, he got downright angry at me and berated me because he thought I was DEMANDING to change my appointment to a later time. I wasn't I was merely inquiring whether it was possible. So in that case, I wanted to clear up the misunderstanding and get back on good terms with him so I apologized. He was very nice and we got over it. But I have noticed there have been comments about how rude Perry can be to some customers. Of course, Perry at his best is awesome to humans and animals BUT I do see that he's got to remember that his customers made him who he is and to appreciate them. He seems to need Anger Management courses or to cut his hours so he's not So stressed. read more

Don't let his fun personality fool you, he will turn on you like a dime! Perry is the most unprofessional obnoxious person, he should never own a business as he cant control his mouth. I was called to confirm my appointment, I notified them that the appointment was for the following week. I have a regular appointment and that their info was incorrect. I was put on hold, Perry picked up YELLING!! " I WROTE THIS APPOINTMENT, I KNOW MY HAND WRITING AND I AM ALWAYS RIGHT! YOU ARE WRONG! IF YOU CANT MAKE IT FIND ANOTHER GROOMER! I was taken back and said OK, I'll come but I have a doctors appointment and will be an hour later, OK? AGAIN PERRY YELLED COME AT 12 OR DON'T COME BACK! I warn anyone going to him, he will turn on you too! I can only imagine how he treats the dogs if they dont sit still or keep quiet. read more

Perry is great! The place is always clean, and they are very professional. They do a great job with the grooming.

Perry cut our dogs hair and expressed his anal glands a couple of times and he did a pretty good job. But he was rude and argumentative on our 3rd visit. Be careful! If Pery asks you how you would like your pet groomed the only correct answer is apparently What ever you think Perry... you are the expert. If you give the wrong answer he may go off on you. We had an appointment for the weekend before Thanksgiving and were looking forward to having our dog freashly groomed for the holiday. When Perry asked if we had any requests my wife suggested that he leave it a little rounder around the face. Perry got really disturbed by this; reminded her that he was the expert and what she was saying didn't make any sense. It went down hill from there rapidly. Luckily we were ably to get an appointment at a new grommer on Main Stret in East Rocakway... VIP. Very nice people, our dog enjoyed the visit, got a nice haircut and no drama. read more

Very professionally, I'd like to say that today was my last time going to Perry because I have never been so disrespected by someone in my life. Been going to him for 4+ years and never had an issue personally. Today I called very calmly to inquire about who washed my dog because it was different than any other time, so I thought maybe it was someone new/different. Perry answered with "what's your problem now" and he said "if you don't like it here then go somewhere else, BYEEE done with you, Jessica" and hung up. I was so shocked. I called twice again and he answered and hung up both times. Perry is unprofessional and rude and while he's done a good job with my dog over the years, no one deserves to be treated this way, especially a paying customer. I will not be returning. read more

We've been bringing our two dogs to Perry for years. This guy knows what he's doing! We have two fluff balls (golden doodle and westie poo) they leave Perrys looking like a million bucks! BACKDROP Dropped my dog off for the first time in April at 9 am. Perry said he would he would be done by 12, he was done by 2. No big deal Went to pick him up with my gf. The grooming was done very nicely but shorter that we expected. I said very easily " oh wow it looks nice but its a little too short" (my gf didn't even recognize my dog at first) It's something I've said a few times in other grooming places if I thought it was too short or sometimes not short enough. Well you would have thought I insulted his mother. Clearly he viewed this as an invidious statement. He thew his hands up in the air, had a hissy fit, declared nastily "I don't know what you people want! and hastily went to the back room not to be seen again. Wow am I on Pranked or Punked? Never in my life have I seen someone act like such a primmadonna.. Only on TV lol Ok, so we spoke pleasantly for a minute of two with his partner who is the likely the business/public relations part of the business and we concluded next time maybe we can better describe the length we want. I'm sure as fellow dog owners reading this you are aware of the trials and tribulations you sometimes go though when patronizing a new groomer before you finally receive the grooming you are aiming to receive for your dog. FAST FORWARD Last week I made an appointment for this week. The day of the appt ( I already took off from my job to take my dog in) my gf gets a call from a young girl "oh I'm sorry Perry had an emergency so he has to cancel the rest of his appointments today" No offer to reschedule just CANCEL. Is this how one runs a business? No, of course you apologize profusely and offer to reschedule to keep the business of your client. I called Perry's shortly after and was speciously informed by this young girl that the near future was booked due to others rescheduling and nothing was available for my dog until beginning of July!!, (more than two weeks). "Oh, we might call you if someone cancels but that never happens" And all this after I said I can drop him off at any time, not just the early afternoon. CONCLUSION I no longer feel comfortable having my dog groomed here. I believe that he blacklisted my dog and that he cannot take the slightest criticism. Absolutely loved this place! Such great vibes and a very calm environment, i had recently adopted a rescue dog and although he is a love, he is still very timid and can come off aggressive towards people.. I had put off bringing him to get groomed for some time in fear of how he would react but after going to Perry's I no longer have that fear. He was amazing with my bear, I had explained prior to bringing him about bears 'issues' with being around big groups of dogs so Perry suggested to bring him later in the day (usually when he's closed) so that bear wouldn't be overwhelmed on his first visit! Bear was bathed and groomed in an hour..and did not want to leave. It took more time to get him to leave Perry's side then it did for the appointment! Perry may be good with grooming dogs, but with people...NOT SO MUCH!! I dropped my dog off at 9 am, and at 12:30 I still hadn't heard from them. So, I called to find out when my dog would be ready, because it was after the time that they usually call to say he's done. Perry screamed at me into the phone that I shouldn't call. I should wait until he's done, and he will call me to get the dog. He screamed on top of me, I couldn't get a word in. He told me if I don't like it, I should go somewhere else. I said "calm down" and he slammed the phone down on me. He has been rude and disrespectful to me before, and I called him out on it, and he backed off. I went immediately to pick up the dog, and he hid in the back. I really don't understand how he keeps any of his customers. read more

I've had terrible experiences with dog groomers; one went so far as to puncture my dog's eye (with scissor or comb)! Perry listened to our traumatic previous experiences and went out of his way to make me and my dog feel safe. Recently needed to find a new pet groomer. Everyday as I dropped my son off at school I would see Perry's sign and the pleasant view of the inside of the business through a large picture window. I am so glad I called and made an appointment. His prices are fair, everyone was very personable and most importantly he gave my the dog the hair cut I wanted for my yorkie (with a smile). I had high hopes that Perry would be our puppies lifetime groomer. From our first meeting my feelings began to quickly change. Perry is a "diva" all about himself. He is not very nice to pet owners. He accused me on several occasions of cutting my dogs hair in between grooming appointments. As well as bathing our dog in between appointments which he feels leads to knots. He refused to use shampoo given from the vet. I left every appointment feeling upset and worried he would take out his frustration on our dog. He made no effort to connect with us and I felt our dog was just one of the many. Perry is a skilled groomer but lacks proper communication skills which ultimately helped me and my husband decide to use a different groomer. I would think twice before bringing your dog to him. No one needs to be belittled by Perry and made to feel you have done something wrong. What's worse is you could be standing in front of him and he would go through Alyssa his receptionist to ask me questions rather then asking me directly. Never once did he apologize for the way he spoke to me fully well knowing I was upset by things he had said. read more

Perry's can groom your dog and the reception staff is nice, but the owner (who is a primary groomer) is rude and emotional when dealing with his own mistakes and conflict in general. I brought my 10 month old puppy to Perry's twice. The first time we had a good experience, and my dog and I were both treated well. The second time my dog was there for five hours. When I called to ask how my dog was, I was told "We're still working on him" with no further comments. A little less than an hour later, my wife was called by the owner, who was exasperatedly telling us how difficult a job he was and that he was almost going to shave the whole dog. He continued to speak over her when she was trying to get off the phone and call me so that I could go pick up out dog. I arrived ten minutes after that call. I was told he had two trouble spots that we should be carefully and was getting mixed signals about the delay in grooming my dog. When I mentioned that they called my wife instead of me and that the owner should have called me, he immediately got defensive and suggested that I should get my dog groomed elsewhere. I said I would, at which point he again got defensive. I pointed out to him that he was the one suggesting we go elsewhere, when he had taken over six hours to groom my dog( I was told it would take four) and then disturbed my wife at work when I specifically asked them to call me. He made a number of comments about how he is stressed at work and doesn't need my attitude. Again, all I did was agree not to come back when he suggested that I should not. I have never been treated that way when speaking to anyone in the customer service industry, and I have NEVER been told to not return to a business (not even a bar has thrown me out). The bottom line is perry can groom your dog, and even do it well, but if THEY make a mistake, they will not treat you, the person, well in the exchange. The owner is rude and emotional when dealing with customers, so you should expect to get more than a little bit of attitude from the owner. If your okay with that, then go to Perry's.q read more

Can't begin to say enough great things about Perry. I have a large dog who had a major issue at a different groomer. I contacted Perry and he couldn't have been kinder or more compassionate. He agreed to meet my dog (and me) and has now been grooming him for the last 5 years. I actually travel 45 minutes to bring my dog there and wouldn't have it any other way. WORST GROOMING EXPERIENCE!! Do not go here. I had to cancel an appointment for 9am bc i worked late on a Friday night and needed to move it until the afternoon on Saturday & the owner, Perry had the girl tell me that there was no appointments for 2 months bc I canceled. THEN - I made another appointment for my 3 lb yorkie & called the day of, just to see how long she would be there (so I'd know what time to come back for her,) and I heard him SCREAMING in the background when they put the phone down, that he "doesn't even want that fucking dog here bc if I can't make a 9am appointment I can go fuck myself" and then the person muffled the phone so I wouldn't hear the rest. I told the person on the phone that I was just asking bc I wanted to know what time to come back for her but forget it. I was so horrified by what I heard, I was scared to leave my small dog there bc he was so angry for nothing. I had heard from a few other people that he was unstable and that he was fired from a job for injuring a dog on purpose, but I didn't believe it until I heard for myself how angry he could get over a simple question. I would never trust someone like this with a pet I cared for. read more

After years of trying different groomers, i finally found a good one! Not only was i extremely happy with how pom looked after picking her up, its the first time she didnt seem traumatized after a grooming. Also, ive asked for certains things at other groomers and have been very dissapointed in the past. The owner came out and spoke to me about her coat and they gave us toy for her to take home. Goong back tomorrow for the second time, and im not nervous one bit...what a great feeling! read more

The customer is always right is NOT an adage Perry Pet Grooming adheres to! When Perry asked me (numerous times) if I had a suggestion on what I'd like to change on my dogs hair cut, I actually thought I could give a suggestion. I didn't think I would then be verbally attacked by a belligerent dog groomer. Telling me I make no sense and that I don't know what I'm talking about, that he's the groomer not me, and then when continued to explain what I was looking for he then blamed my dog for moving on his table. Yes Perry - Dogs are living things, and guess what sometimes they move. I find it hard to believe that my dog is the only dog that doesn't sit still on a table! But what I find harder to believe is the way this groomer s personality turned on a dime! I'm glad that he is not standing over my precious pet with a razor! Leaving the store I was still in shock, but I did look around to see if Candid Camera was filming this exchange! read more
