We hired Personal Touch Dining to cater our wedding reception at the Powerhouse in Del Mar. Highly recommended, easy to work with, and great staff! Our main contact Amanda was very patient and diligent in documenting every single detail I requested and made sure everything turned out exactly how I envisioned. We originally were going to buy the alcohol ourselves, but they offer a fantastic bartender/alcohol option that saved us time and money. They have lots of menu options to choose from. We went with their signature chicken dish for the main dish, and splurged on the chocolate covered strawberries for extra fun for our guests. Every course was delicious and served on schedule, yet the servers did a great job of staying out of the way and were hardly noticed. Leah and Nikka were amazing! I just had my wedding last month at Leo Carrillo Ranch and everything was perfect to a T. My family and I did our own flowers and centerpieces; we dropped off these items (including homemade cookies with names on them to serve as "placards"), as well as seating charts, and Leah and Nikka were able to set everything up for us. Our family and guests had an amazing time, and loved the intimate set up at our venue. We were recommended to Leo Carrillo by a friends who's wedding we attended last year, and are so happy to decided to have our special day there as well. Food was AMAZING - our guests could not stop talking about the quality. Personal Touch Dining's quality of food is so much higher than what most people are use to (and expect) from wedding food. It tastes fresh, made to order, and not like it's been sitting in a warming try all day. One detail that really stood out in my mind was when the ceremony ended, and all of the guests moved to the cocktail hour area where they would be served appetizers. Our family was instructed to stay in the ceremony area to take family photos before heading off to the cocktail hour. As soon as the guests cleared the area, I noticed that servers came out immediately with trays of appetizers and served directly to our family. They were very responsive and helpful when it came to getting quotes or even pointing us in the right direction when looking for last minute additions. PTD was an absolute joy to work with for our wedding! We got married at Scripps Seaside Forum and they were on a list of about 20 other caterers to pick from. We chose them for a few reasons: 1) All inclusive packages where they also provide not only the food, but dessert, and all the rentals. 2) How quick they were to respond via email and so easy and kind to work with. 3)The menu selection, price point, and presentation. We were so excited to work with them! They made our wedding planning experience easy and fun. I worked closely with Annalisa. Sam also assisted. We had a delicious tasting and decided on the grilled cheese, bacon wrapped dates, ahi poke tacos, and grilled shrimp for our appetizers. The were also running a special for the 4 appetizer to be complimentary! The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because we were really disappointed after our wedding and hearing from too many guests that did not get to see or taste any or all 4 of the appetizers. Personally I feel like food is one of the most important aspects to a wedding. We were so confident with the quality of our menu choice. I never thought I needed to stress and worry about the quantity. However, now when I think about other weddings, it's very common to only see 1-2 types of appetizers and get some or none at all. I wish I would have stressed the importance to us that we want guest at the point of turning servers away if they feel too full. We just fell in love so much with the food that we really wish our guests got to enjoy it too. They definitely made sure to cater to my husband and I for our private moment where they provided us a full plate of appetizers which were absolutely delicious. For dinner, we wanted to mix it up and do stations. We went with their short rib and potatoes and let me tell you guests are still raving about this dish. This was on their original menu, and for our other two stations, they were great at being flexible and letting us create a taco station and a flatbread and salad station. Both good, but nothing as great as their menu selection of the short rib. Take our advice, don't customize the menu and stick to what they make best! Another suggestion is if you do stations and want the tables to look complete with chargers, just be aware guests will have to juggle 3 different plates and figure out where to put it at the table. Some guests I think found it a little funny trying to make a square plate, bowl and round plate all work with the charger. They managed. We are so grateful for the staff providing my husband and I personally more than enough appetizers for our private moment after the ceremony, and again at our dinner table, and they were kind enough to already bring us our dinner. We also asked for meals to go. I can't express enough how absolutely beautiful the venue looked and it mainly all had to do with PTD. All the tables, chairs, vintage furniture, bar, drapery, lighting, etc, was all provided by them. Without them and their staff, there would have been no wedding. PTD is not just a fabulous catering company, but a one stop shop! I wish for everyone to discover them and use them for their special occasion! read more

They were very responsive from the beginning and continued to blow us away as time passed. They set up a wonderful tasting, which felt very much like a private dinner. They had a lot for us to choose from both for food options and rentals and they provided great insight. The food was incredible, both at the tasting and the wedding itself. We even went with the ice cream sundae bar which our guests loved! The staff at our wedding were outstanding, they were very welcoming and attentive to us and our guests all night long. My fiancee and I paid for our whole wedding and we researched caterers more than any other vendor! One of my bridesmaids works in the industry and once I told her about the steal we were getting with PTD her enthusiasm reinforced our decision to book with them. We hired PTD for our recent wedding and they met and exceeded ALL our expectations!! Everyone said they really liked EVERYTHING and were surprised that we actually had good wedding food. We got tray passed appetizers: fresh fruit shooters, peanut chicken kabobs, and mango quesadillas and for dinner we had: stuffed chicken, seasonal vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes with french and olive bread on each of the tables. Everything between the initial tasting, the complimentary "to-go" box of chocolate chip cookies after every visit, providing complimentary linens (floor length), napkins, and other extras that most others definitely did not provide helped make our choice an easy one. They even let us borrow a cupcake stand for an amazing display my friend made for us. Our day-of event manager (Becca) provided wonderful and energetic service throughout the entire day and accommodated to all of our needs even making sure we had food plates ready before our guest started to eat. The catering staff/bartender was friendly and personable as well as dressed professionally. Personal Touch did a great job with our wedding. They helped us work through all the changes that inevitably happen with weddings. And they were good about communicating with us. The guests really enjoyed the food, and we were very pleased with that. My husband and I both agree that we have rarely, if ever, attended a wedding where the food was even remotely memorable. This was not the case with our wedding! I thought the catering staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our event as well. My only complaint is that the licensed bartenders of Personal Touch did not prepare our signature cocktails according to our instructions. We had provided some pretty pricey blackberry garnishes that were supposed to be muddled into the drinks. My emails communicated the preparation of this cocktail in detail. But instead of a blackberry and mint flavored vodka cocktail, our guests got vodka soda's with no flavor and whole blackberries and mint leaves floating around in them :(. But like I said, the catering portion I was very happy with, and I would still recommend Personal Touch. They provided me with good food at a decent price. Alright let's just get this out of the way I'm no expert yet but I've been to a few wedding and the food is always just eh. Usually it's dried up sides and some sort of chicken drenched in a sauce. You're not getting that with personal touch dining. Our wedding venue Mt Woodson has a working contract with Personal Touch Dining and they couldn't have chosen a better place. Maybe my wife and I also chose the perfect menu? I'll go with both of those answers. For the tasting they put us into a room and it was like a dining room set up and it was a lot of fun. We decided on the chicken and waffles (started as a joke ended up being amazing), the andouille sausage, and a bisque shooter. From what I saw the appetizers couldn't stay on the trays because they were flying away. Our main entree was a lanky crusted chicken and the tri tip. It was served with seasonal vegetables and rice. What can I say about the tri tip? Everyone I spoke to couldnt stop raving about it. I think Personal Touch might have to put out a recipe book just on the tri tip. We also ordered churros and cookies for a dessert option with our wedding cake. Dear lord for our tasting I thought the cookies were good during our tasting but they must have been something else because I didn't even get to see them. I disappeared for 5 minutes and they were all gone. I almost started a conspiracy theory because I didn't even get to see them. My friends and even DJ said they saw the cookies and they were flying off the shelf. Long story short really good cookies apparently. I hired Personal Touch for my rentals and catering for my wedding. I was very happy with the way everything came out. I used the chic buffet, which includes appetizers and a buffet dinner. The food was all very good, my guests were all happy and I got several comments about how good it was- in particular the almond crusted chicken and grilled vegetables. I was even able to serve my vegan, vegetarian, gluten-allergic and children without a problem. My rentals were also wonderful, they set up and turned over the space from ceremony to reception flawlessly. They didn't pressure us to hurry up pictures of anything. We rented everything from small tables for an advice to the couple board to dinner tables and lights for the outdoor patio. I found the servers and the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We also used them for bar staff, but supplied out own alcohol. They were very good and helpful to all of our guests. My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that my account was switched between three different people in the 6-7 months of planning. We started with Lauren, who was wonderful. She arranged our tasting and initial plans. A few months later I was switched to Iman. She was also very nice, but I'm not sure if she just got busy with other weddings about a six weeks before, but I had emailed and asked for a quote on the lighting and it took her almost a month to get the invoice back to me. The lights were included and were about $800 extra. It wasn't a great surprise for two weeks before the wedding. If I had 6 weeks I would have been able to look around for other options, but 2 weeks didn't leave any time for that. Lastly, neither Iman or Lauren were actually at the event. I actually don't remember the gentleman who was running it. He was very nice and capable, and as I said, everything turned out great, but it would have been nice to see a familiar face to feel like the people I had been working with and communicating with all this time would be there to oversee it and make sure everything was done as we talked about. Overall, I was very happy with Personal Touch. They made everything easy, especially the day of the wedding. The food was good, the rentals looked great. Everyone there was pleasant, nice to work with and professional. I would use them again for another large event. read more
