Date of visit - September 6. Booking my spot over the phone was very simple. Parking can be simple - I parked across the street in front of the luxury apartments. There might be parking in the neighborhood, but arrive early just in case. Perspire Sauna did tabling at a gym I used to go to some months ago and I had wanted to try it out for a while. Figuring it would be good to go for a ladies' day out, I planned this for my friend and I. To start, it's very modern looking inside, and quiet. It kind of reminds me of a One Medical office. For first timers, the cost is only $30 for your first session and if you share a room with a friend/spouse/partner or whoever, the add on services are only charged per room, not per person. Once inside of the room you can choose whatever channel you want and go inside the sauna. I like that if you need to take a breather you can just exit the sauna room. It's still a private space. Sweating is inevitable. Take breaks when you need to if you can't handle the heat. I noticed the pain from menstrual cramps was alleviated during my session, which was perfect for that time of the month as someone who does their best not to take pain medication. I also added in Halo-therapy - only $15 extra -, which is supposed to help in improving respiratory function, though I imagine this only works if you do it on a consistent basis. The associate told me how to control it in the room, but tbh I don't know if it was actually working. Would I come again? Sure! I did a 6pm session, and it was a relaxing experience. I was introduced to this place through Yelp, and I am so glad that I was. It has completely changed my idea on saunas. My boyfriend and I immediately came back the next week and talked about the experience all week. Normal saunas are stuffy, difficult to breathe in, and all around very uncomfortable. I've never been able to withstand one long enough to even feel any benefits. This is completely different. Yes, the room is hot. But it's a very different heat that warms you up more than the air. You'll begin sweating before you know it, letting go of many toxins. I'm not usually one that sweats much, so it was a wild time to see so much sweat on myself! The experience is wonderful for many reasons. The first being the television that you can watch while inside. My boyfriend and I watched a season finale of our show on our last visit and time flew by so quickly! It's a great distraction from any uncomfort. The red light therapy is an added and very welcome bonus, alongside the colored light that you can change solely based on your preference. The eucalyptus towels after the session feel incredible on your face and help cool you down as well. I've tried many health trends and can spot a fad a mile away, but this is something that you can actually experience benefits from- even after one session. My boyfriend's back was hurting less and we both slept fantastic after both sessions. I can only imagine what consistent use could do. Discovered this place through a Yelp Elite experience and missed it so much that I came back for a promo membership! Unlimited sessions for one week = daily stress relief (my dream). I have a sauna at my local gym, but as you can imagine it's nowhere near as nice, private, and clean as this place. The staff is so kind and attentive in making sure each room is prepped / cleaned thoroughly before your session. The room has a tv with premium streaming services so I can catch up on anime or listen to my favorite artist. 40 minutes is the perfect amount of time to get your sweat on with little breaks in between. I always set it to the highest temperature (170 degrees Fahrenheit) and it feels like a warm hug and the perfect place for a stretch after the gym. read more

The smell when you walk in is so refreshing! I went here for a yelp elite event but this is my super honest opinion. They have a 20$ intro offer which is a steal for a relaxing time. Everything is super clean and hygienic. You have the option of watching TV, using red light (medical grade red light therapy) and changing the temperature, colors and overall vibes. The infrared sauna itself is a bit small but because it's pretty hot in there I don't know if you can lie down anyway. While the rooms are spacious enough for 1-2 people, I would say the sound proofing could using some work to make the experience more relaxing. I especially loved the cold eucalyptus towel afterwards as it was such a refreshing contrast to the heat and I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I've had the opportunity to come here twice now, and each time has been so peaceful and relaxing! First time I came with my partner. Second time I came by myself. First time - we got the lay of the land - shout out to Shawntrell for being so kind and informative. I love having our own private room, temperature control (it goes up to 170F), red light therapy, LED color therapy, AND TV in the room? TV was a pleasant and truly next level experience lol the sound goes into the sauna box. There are multiple apps like Hulu, Netflix, and even YouTube Premium- the fact that we don't have to watch ads during our sauna experience is truly everything lol. I am used to the normal saunas, but I was pleased that infrared saunas still broke me out in a good sweat! They accommodate for everything you need - you get a floor towel, body towel, and face towel. You also get a cool eucalyptus towel to use at the end - and this might even be my favorite part of even coming here! The small details go a long way :) 40 minute sessions can be long enough to watch an episode of something. It's going to be hard to sauna at other places now lol I will get bored without TV not to mention surrounded by strangers instead of having the peace and quiet time to myself. There's also a water bottle refill station. Everything feels very clean here like the bathrooms and the sauna rooms themselves. I wish there was a shower here - that is my only feedback! What a perfect way to relax at the end of the week! I had never been to an infrared sauna before and had no idea what to expect. I'm a perpetual cynic so I went in with the mindset "they're just gonna shine a light on me, like I'm a turtle, how great could it really be?" And then holy moly did I eat my words. I've been in saunas before and I've always found them refreshing enough but extremely arduous. Traditional saunas always feel a little claustrophobic and stuffy, I guess. It's nice to sweat, but at what cost? Infrared saunas actually do as advertised and let you sweat it out without crushing you into a blob of condensed steam! Genuinely it was such a relaxing experience, which is not how I would describe any other sauna. I was able to stay in the sauna for a continuous 35 minutes and I kept turning up the heat! The last 15 minutes were spent at 166* F, which I didn't know was even survivable. The infrared really lets you experience high heat without really feeling the heat. Obviously this means you should listen to your body carefully because other signifiers of stress are less apparent, but you can really get more out of the experience for the same reasons. Here's what I wish I knew going in, beyond the whole "drink lots of water before hand" (which I did! And I was really glad I did! Definitely drink water before hand!): 1) if you have long hair, like I do, you're gonna want to put it up in a bun. I went in with a braid and was kind of annoyed by how my hair stuck to my back. In hindsight this seems obvious, but I didn't realize it until I was trying to tie my braid into a knot in an attempt to get it off my back. 2) you are encouraged to bring your own water. This is another thing that is kind of obvious but I needed it spelled out. I bought an electrolyte drink there because I neglected to bring a water bottle. The drink was refreshing! I got the grapefruit flavor and thought it was pleasant! However, that was a $5 drink and that's a little pricey for a canned non-alcoholic drink imo. It was also not quite enough of a drink by volume to comfortably get me through the experience. I'm going to come back and bring a massive water bottle and a claw clip! I felt so good after my session, practically giddy. And my complexion definitely cleared up (I struggle with acne and that why I keep throwing myself at saunas without having ever really loved them, until now). read more

First came here as part of a Yelp elite event, but have now signed up for a monthly membership. I typically cannot sit in saunas for longer than a few minutes. I'm a total baby and the hot steam or air just suffocates me. The infrared sauna is different, I'm not well versed in the science of it so you'll have to read up on your own for that. You get a private room and can control the temp (I've started with 130-140), lights, etc. They provide towels and there is a TV in the room so 40 minutes passes by in the blink of an eye if you have a good show to watch. It has eased some of the aches in my muscles, my skin looks fresh. I plan to go 1x a week to see if there are long term benefits. Bring water and hydrate both before and after! read more

Was excited about this event when it popped up on an Yelp Elite Event. I'd been looking for a place like this ever since I moved back home. I had a regular place in SoCal I went too. My knee pain was also acting up so this therapy I know would help Made the reservation on line as directed, but I didn't see the option to add, later found it in profile. Called to make sure about the +1 and I think Karma(?) was her name was really helpful. Made sure the +1 was added. This place is easy to find as its on Shattuck proper, closer toward Ashby and got parking fairly easy. Side street or on Shattuck. Greeting lovely by the front desk, calm young lady. Spacious front, and some cool merch, candles, and hydrating drink/electrolytes packets to add to H2O as well as a cooler. My guy hadn't been to a IFR studio so when she showed us to our room gave us good run down of the room and explained the different temps. There is a small TV that had soothing scene scenery, the music just plays in the unit as not to disturb others. She told us Hulu and Netflix was available, but one is there to relax. We just left it on the nature scenery. There is a card that explains the health benefits of the different colors. After my session (40) there is a nice cool towel infused with eucalyptus oil to help cool your body and invigorate. The benefits of this are felt for days after. My knee however was feeling better right away. Will be looking into their membership. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews, but Perspire has done me such a world of good, I can't help but spread the word. TLDR: I've been dealing with some serious health issues for over two years and the consequences have been bountiful. Narrowing it down for the sake of this review, for most of the last year, the handful of hours I've been awake each day (often sleeping upwards of 16 hours), meant that my full range generally stretched not far beyond to the couch. Super active my whole life prior, I didn't realize that part of the reason my cognition was getting so bad ("brain fog", as we like to call it these days) was because I wasn't using my body and therefore much of my neural circuitry was going unused. Avoiding using this space to expound on the insights of somatic, psychology, reaffirmed through my experience, my extreme lethargy cut me off from another vital tool for healing: Perspiration! If you know, or suspect, that your body needs to rid itself from biotoxins or any type: mold, heavy metals, parasites.. you name it, then you owe it to yourself to give these infrared saunas a shot. I had an outdated notion that I wasn't going to enjoy it--not find it as relaxing nor rejuvenating than the old school options. I couldn't have been more wrong I'm healing from a number of serious conditions related to mold toxicity and coming to Perspire 2-4/week has been THE best thing I've done for my health. Every time I walk out I feel like a version of myself I had almost completely lost. I'm sharper, less edgy, quicker to smile and laugh, and even playful. My energy is elevated and I feel far less troubled by the concerns of modern living than before I walked in. The staff is courteous, friendly, and professional . If you decide to make a thing out of it and go several times a week, you'll definitely start to notice the benefits quicker and get a lot more bang for your buck with a monthly unlimited pass. There's a lot more I could say but if you have a positive first experience and go back for a second , try the Halotherapy. For an additional cost a machine sprays a fine saline mist into the air. Each time we have been, it's felt like a brand new sauna. Additiionally, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The actual sauna experience was unlike any sauna i've been in. The infrared sauna was much better than the regular type of sauna that just makes the room hot and humid. Infrared penetrates your skin and heats you from the inside out. It really helps remove any toxins or impurities. While the session seems like a long time to spend in a sauna, my partner and I utilized the tv they have in the room and it made the session fly by! This is a clean and pleasant IR sauna franchise with, unfortunately, some pretty shady billing practices. "Promo" rates turn into big monthly bills, and if you try to cancel you are urged to "pause," after which billing silently resumes. We had a very rough (and expensive!) lesson in this. We couldn't figure out why a supposedly local studio was doing such sharp business practice, but after looking into it we realized they are a national chain. So if you are invited to join on a promotional rate, just know who you're dealing with, and watch your wallet. Sessions are usually 40 minutes each and I found it easy to book one of their 7 small private rooms or "studios" online, as there was plenty of availability. Each room or allows you to control the heat and there's a TV to keep you entertained during a session. After your session, you can cool down with their soothing eucalyptus towel (hydrating beverages are available to purchase as well). i went for my health , during serious medical treatment, on advice from my doctor. At the most critical time in my treatment i was not allowed access because of a glitch in their computer system . The manageress had assured me previously that she had remedied my account so there would be no problem , i rented a car specifically to enable me to get to studio during this time ,at great cost.i was treated like a liar and denied access by her staff . i begged desperately to contact the manageress . Had a great first time experience over the weekend! I arrived about 10 minutes early to my appointment, but I was seen right away. The staff that was working at the front desk was informative, and gave us instructions of how to control the sauna's temperature, the TV, and where to put our used towels when we are finished. The facility was also clean, and everything was spotless. I also enjoyed the red infrared light therapy, and was able to get a good sweat in. The 40 minutes went by relatively quick, and they had a tv available where you can watch shows on Netflix, Hulu, or Youtube. I honestly have never written a bad review for a business before, but I feel so misled by this place. I feel like everybody should have a warning. I signed up for the membership when I was diagnosed with Bell's palsy I have continued to be a challenge and I wasn't able to go enough to make the membership worth it but I was trying to figure out the best time to cancel. I called this location and talked to somebody on the phone who told me that after canceling my membership I would have 60 days to use my leftover sessions because of that, I decided I was going to spread them out, but after going one other time when I went into the app to book, my next one I was blocked. I called the location to try to book over the phone because I figured it was just an inconsistency with the app but they told me that there was no such 60 day policy and I should've said that in my cancellation email if the woman had said that to me over the phone. Hadn't said anything when I was submitting my cancellation email because the woman on the phone made it sound like it was totally standard practice so I didn't think there was anything unique to note. I should she read their policies - absolutely - but unfortunately I trusted the rep. When I explained all of this to the woman on the phone, she told me that they were recorded all of the calls so she could actually go back into the call transcript and then she would honor whatever the woman said and email me. I loved this idea and thanked her because I felt totally certain in what we had talked about and that the transcript / recording would allow me to use the sessions. I gave her the exact call time so she could easily find it and she said she'd get back to me. The woman didn't ever get back to me. When I called again to follow up the new person on the phone knew nothing about any of this. I'm so exhausted chasing these people around to just have them honor what the first person promised. So much disconnected communication and not trustworthy at all :( I'm so disappointed because I actually really liked the sessions and was hoping to be able to rejoin once I was able to travel to the location more again. read more
