    Ceviche Peru 51

The food is amazing! We ordered anticuchos (grilled cow heart kabob) and Ceviche Peru 51, which is the same as the Ceviche Norteño but with some fried seafood on the side. The anticuchos were super flavorful and tender, and the ceviche had a very nice texture (and generous portion). All the sides were great too! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the sauces - all of them were pretty heavy on the mayo and not super distinctly flavored. The desserts looked delicious and we wanted to order one but were too full. Definitely next time! It's a small place, but it was pretty nice to sit down and eat there. Our server was really friendly and helpful.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is the best Peruvian restaurant in the valley. Having lived in Peru for a few years and gone back several times, Peruvian food has a special place in my heart. There's nowhere that does it like this place. The ceviche, the fresh fruit juice, the lomo saltado, the pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), the passion fruit cheese cake, the chicha morada, the arroz con leche, all the dipping sauces, the rice, the fries, and every other dish I've tried here transports me back. This is truly a family owned and operated business. I was chatting with the staff and learned that three generations of the same extended family work here. The restaurant itself is a good size with a decent amount of seating. If you're going with a big party, I'd recommend calling ahead to make a reservation. The photos of Peru and the Nazca lines painted on the walls are a nice touch. They always have good specials going on and they even have nearby delivery. Run, don't walk, to this place!

Delicious and authentic food. I have never had Peruvian food, but this was a wonderful introduction. Ceviche was fresh and citrusy without an overwhelming lime flavor. The lomo saltado was so flavorful it was hard to stop eating it. Service was pleasant and the food was prepared in a timely manner. I look forward to coming back!

This place is a gem and serving completely legit Peruvian food. It is exactly what it looks like...little hole in the wall, Peruvian place that is cooking up absolutely wonderful tasting authentic Peruvian dishes. No joke. If you are in any way familiar with Peruvian food, you will be very glad you found this place!

We ordered la Jalea and el Arroz con Mariscos, and they were both SO GOOD! The seafood was perfect and really fresh!

Pollo a la brasa and arroz caufa

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best chicken I've ever had. I've been here twice in the last two weeks and it was amazing both times. I got the pollo a la brasa the first time and the same thing with arroz caufa the second time. Honestly, it was so good. Don't let the sparse decor scare you. This is your classic hole in the wall restaurant with amazingly delicious food!

It was a little pricey. Too crowded and noisy. Service was slow, and the food was not memorable.

The only problem was that the meat was really tough, like, hurt my jaw to chew, tough. My husband had the 1/4 pollo a la brasa. It was well cooked, still moist, and well seasoned. The fries were pretty limp though. I ordered a side of fried ripe plantains and they were delicious. They were perfectly ripe and cooked all the way through with the right caramelization. Service was really lacking. They have "Help Wanted" signs and they really needed the help. It took about 20 minutes to get the entres and another 10-15 minutes to get the plantains and drinks. The floor and the tables were dirty. Hopefully they'll be able to hire help soon.

Beware of this restaurant, extremely dishonest management…read more The management at this location deserves zero stars. If you are using a coupon, be prepared to be misled and treated poorly. We used a Starving Student coupon before at the Provo location without any issues. This time, we used the same coupon at the Orem location. The deal clearly states Buy 1 entrée, get 1 free (saving $17.99), as shown in the screenshots. We ordered two half-chicken entrées. The cashier scanned the coupon, charged us, and told us the wait time would be about 20 minutes. At no point were we told there were any restrictions. After waiting 20 minutes, the cashier brought out the food and then informed us that "the boss's mom said" that because we used a coupon, we were only allowed ¼ chicken, not half. This was never disclosed when we ordered, and directly contradicts both the coupon and our previous experience at the Provo location. We were told this was a "new rule." This is misleading, dishonest, and false advertising. I asked to speak directly with the boss's mom, but she refused to come out and instead hid in the kitchen, sending the employee to act as a mediator. We were then told she "doesn't speak English." Ironically, my husband speaks Spanish and suddenly she was "too busy" to speak to us at all. This is an unacceptable way to treat customers. The cashier at the front was the only helpful and professional person there. She even disagreed with the situation, but could not approve a refund without a manager. She had to call twice before we finally received our refund. Bottom line: If you don't want to honor a deal, don't offer it. This is false advertising and completely unethical. Hiding in the kitchen instead of addressing customers is unprofessional and embarrassing for a business. This restaurant should either honor the Starving Student deal as advertised or remove it entirely. I'm posting this so others don't go through the same experience. I will not support a business that operates like this. This review will also be sent directly to the restaurant's management team and to Starving Student's management.

Food: 4/5 Dessert (Bonus!): 4/5…read moreService: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 This is going to be a long one, apologies in advance. For food, the calmari frita it was called but it was squid, some kind of white fish, shrimp along with fried, thinly sliced red onion, bell pepper and jalapeño. GET THIS, one of the best things of the night! When you do get it, make sure you get bites of the chopped veggie mixture that's buried under all the fried goodness, thank me later. Main course, we got the Parillada de Buenos Aires, this is where the issues start, our waiter said we were able to sub out a couple of the items on platter as tripe and sweetbreads (the glands of a veal if you weren't aware) are not things we enjoy. So we swapped them out for a chicken milenesa and a grilled chicken breast. It also came with 1 each of the sides that were pretty basic, and honestly lacked flavor in comparison (rice, potato salad, house salad, mashed potatoes and roasted veggies). Then the meats it comes with, a half chicken, a 12 oz skirt steak, 4 short ribs, some other grilled cut of meat (menu doesn't specify what kind) and a variety of sausages. The waiter, through super nice, totally messed up the substitutions. He brought them out but from the time ordered to the time we ate was about an hour, and for the correct food to come out took even longer. The food itself was pretty good, meats had great flavor and the milenesa when it came out was hot and juicy. The meats didn't need any dipping sauce because they were that well seasoned. Dessert we had the lemon "cheesecake" which was just a lemon cake with a cream cheese type frosting, not at all what you think of with a cheesecake.

When I got there, the restaurant was clean and well organized, and there were not many customers at the time, which made the atmosphere feel calm and relaxed. The service was average. It wasn't unfriendly, but it also wasn't particularly warm or memorable. I ordered the arroz chaufa, and in terms of flavor I have to say it was very tasty. The rice itself had great seasoning and a really nice flavor. However, the dish was a bit disappointing because it was almost entirely rice--the chicken was practically nonexistent. For a dish like this, you expect a better balance of ingredients, and unfortunately the main protein was missing. Sadly, this made the overall experience not the best, especially considering the positive recommendations I had heard before visiting. I hope they can improve the consistency of their dishes and the proportion of ingredients, because the flavor of the rice shows that the kitchen has the potential to deliver a much better experience.
