They were all in all delicious. What stood out: The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the potatoes and corn were spot on, and the crab was oh so good. One boil was the house blend (mild heat) and the other was the butter and garlic (no heat). The only bummer was that they were out of a few proteins. The setting is very child friendly and it's very casual. There's multiple tvs on which help distract the kiddos while waiting for the food. I had not been to Kickin Seafood for quite some time, and I was disappointed with my recent visit. They changed all the decorations inside the restaurant. Now there are random scratch marks all over the walls, and honestly it looks very bad and low class. I would rather they kept the walls clean and simple with one color. The restaurant now feels cheap and dirty. In fact, the overall cleanliness was disappointing. I ordered a seafood bag and a gumbo soup. The gumbo used to be my favorite, but this time it was terrible. Even before tasting it, the color looked bad--like dirty waste water. After one bite, I could tell all the important flavors were missing. I could not continue eating it. The seafood bag was okay, but not great. Yes, the prices are lower, but it does not feel like a good value. Cheap prices are not everything. I would rather pay a little more for good food and a better dining experience. Finally came here with some friends on a Friday night. The restaurant was full and there were a lot of people waiting to be seated in the lobby as well. Our friends arrived earlier and were able to get us a table! Our server was very nice and friendly. My husband and I ordered a combo one dinner and the hush puppies as an appetizer. The dinner came out before the appetizer. After watching other tables, it seemed like that was the case for them as well. The hush puppies were burnt and dry, unfortunately! I have lived in the south and love a good hush puppy but wouldn't order these again. I was disappointed! The seafood boil was fresh and flavorful. However, it wasn't super hot when it came out to us. Not sure why. The clams were delicious and my favorite. The shrimp were big and I would order them with no head next time to make it easier to eat. Absolutely amazing!!! Definitely enjoyed and loved this seafood boil. I been to the Kickin in Layton several times and loved them but they changed to a buffet style which sucked so I was excited to come here to the one in Orem. The service was magnificent and all the servers was friendly and amazing. The ambiance was nice and calm and you felt taken care of. I will definitely return. Came here on Sunday 8/31 and it was so freaking goood! Our server who I can't remember his name but he had blonde hair up to his shoulders and a hat was the best! He knew when to check up on us and gave us the perfect amount of space to dig our faces! Service was 10/10 ask for him! Our first time here and it was a great experience. The waiter was super funny and friendly, he helped us figure out the right combination of things with a variety of spice levels. Been curious about this place for the dine-in experience - and it was a good first-time experience! Met a friend there for a late lunch/early dinner so we were the only ones there between those odd hours but we received really great service! The waitress was attentive and abided by our every wish. I had their seafood boil for the first time about 1.5+ years ago, but it was when they were doing only take out in the beginning/middle of the pandemic. I have to say the dine-in experience was way better. Their shrimps (seafood boil) with head-on were quite bigger than expected and compared to other seafood boils I've had (in Salt Lake County) so that was a pleasant surprise! Their kickin' style sauce (a mixture of all the sauces) on medium heat has a good flavor - really enjoyed it. We also had the raw oysters and sweet potato fries for appetizers. Great spacious atmosphere, where you can also settle in for an hour or so and still keep a distance (one or two tables away) from other patrons. Will definitely come back here as it's close to home. We need more places like this in Utah County! read more

Wanted fish for Good Friday and this establishment had a 4 star rating. Got here early a little after 5 to avoid the dinner rush. Sat down quickly and service was great even as many started to arrive. Not thrilled with the food options or the ability to substitute but my order included two appetizers, the Calamari which was golden, not greasy & the seafood gumbo was large bowl ordered without rice. It looked like a good choice with plenty of vegetables but found it hard to find the seafood other than a few tiny shrimp embryos & after enjoying excellent gumbo in New Orleans, it was difficult to call this gumbo & they hand out tiny cheap plastic spoons for the gumbo, if you come bring a spoon. The main meal was option 1 & my choices were 2 portions of shimp and 1 of mussels. I did enjoy the meal and had some to bring home. The corn was over cooked but the garlic bread (extra cost) sausage and potatoes were ok! Could have used scissors for de-shelling the shrimp but didn't realize they were available until on our way out. Place is ok, they would do well to provide ala cart in the future so patrons can make their own choices. read more

My husband and I usually go to a cajun seafood broil in salt lake but we didn't want to drive all the way to salt lake to eat. We decided to try this place, I noticed most of the recent reviews were good so we decided to check it out. Service was quick we got our food soon after ordering. We got the medium spice but we both agreed we could have gone up a level the fries were good and so was calamari. The aesthetic was not what I expected but it was kind of cool to see all the names of people who have come before. Over all we enjoyed our selfs and the food really hit the spot. First off, we love this place. We are HUGE seafood fans and love spicy food. We are always greeted promptly and treated with respect (which is rare in the food industry these days). We love to get the #4 combo deal with lobster, shrimp and crawfish as our mains and then the sausage, corn & potatoes on the side. We always choose the kickin style sauce with medium heat for the boil and then we get side cups of the kickin style sauce in spicy for extra flavor. We always leave happy and stuffed for hours. We've never had a bad experience here & Edgar is usually our server and he's such a sweetheart & does his job the way everyone should. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you love spicy seafood! We almost didn't go in the restaurant cause of the bad reviews, but there were no other place open on a Sunday. I'm glad we went in to try it! The kickin's style sauce was so good. We came here to try the Po Boys, and did not disappoint. Often times, the po boy is on mediocre bread, but not this place. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It has a good chew to it as well. The fries were really good as well, both the cajun and sweet potato fries. The fried shrimp inside the sandwich were not overcooked, and the breading on the shrimp was very crispy as well. The remoulade sauce that came on the sandwich was a little spicy, which was great. We did not wait long for the food to come out out and the server was very nice and happy, which is always good to see. Everyone else there was having the seafood boil, so I assume those are good too, I just wanted a po boy. I'd recommend this place to any of my friends. read more

First impressions were okay and I'm hoping I can come back another day to a better meal. If I find the time to come back here another day, I really want to try the bagged seafood and see for myself if there's something here that I can get attached to. Wow! Truly kickin! This is located behind Trader Joe's in orem. The place can seem oddly place but it truly is a hidden jem. They have been open for over a year and it gives me South Carolina vibes! You know... I think many of the low reviews are from uncultured locals that have no sense for diverse taste. Yes it sounds weird, but why not try it? We tried it for the first time in LA.... we had never been to a place where the tablecloth is a sheet of paper, then your food comes out in bags and thrown on the table and you eat with your hands. Just primitive, right? Well so glad we did. I am obsessed now and have gotten so many friends and family members hooked as well. I always get crab legs or shrimp with the everything sauce and mild. So damn good. And the server, Eric, was awesome. We do wish they served the garlic noodles, so look into that. Thanks! We even bought an additional side of the sauce so we can make it at home. These guys have only been open for 6 months they said. If they keep up the good work they will be destined to grow. Upon walking in on a Thursday evening in February we were promptly greeted and seated in comfortable booths, with pleasant wood decor. The waiter named Edgar was very personable and tended to us with extreme kindness and attentiveness we really enjoyed his enthusiasm in doing his job. Service is terrible, took forever to get seated, took forever to just get water (mind the fact that I had to ask for it while ordering), annnnd then the food arrived... I understand this is Utah. I also understand (and have experienced) that even frozen seafood can be cooked "decently"... this place missed that memo. Expect overcooked shrimp/crawfish/basically everything, except for the Cajun fries. Those might have been the best part.
