As soon as I walked in the door, an employee named Ashe greeted me and my dogs. I knew within one minute of chatting with her that she was very knowledgeable and dog savvy. She was very kind and polite and helpful. She was respectful of my dogs and clearly understood their body language. While they were in the pet wash, I realized that I could probably use a licky mat to put on the side of the tub to make the experience more pleasant for them. Somehow, Ash read my mind and checked in on us. When I asked if they had anything like that, she ran and got it for me. Unexpectedly, a family who had arrived and was using the tubs for their own pets, lost control of a very small dog who was not wearing a collar. The dog bolted from the tub and ran out of the doors into the parking lot. The mother and child ran out to get the dog and several passersby appeared to be chasing her, which is the worst thing you can do with a loose dog who is running The amazing Ashe quickly made sure that the other employees were manning the store, and briskly walked outside, assessed the situation, did a wide arc so as not to pressure the little dog in any direction, and planted herself far ahead of the dog so she could block her from getting to the main road if that became necessary. In short, Ashe is a gem. She is not only a stellar employee, but I fear she is overqualified and I may need to hire her myself. I will be back as I always am, but probably more frequently due to your wonderful employees. Thank you!!

I was disappointed to see that this store continues to sell live animals rather than partner with…read morelocal rescues. During my visit, I saw guinea pigs, mice, turtles, and other animals for sale, including guinea pigs advertised at 25% off. It was difficult to see living animals displayed and discounted like retail merchandise. Many of the animals were alone in small glass enclosures with little opportunity for enrichment or normal behavior. There are thousands and thousands of small animals in rescues that need homes. Continuing to source animals from commercial breeders while so many adoptable animals already exist is a business choice, not a necessity. I hope Petco moves toward ending the sale of live animals and instead becomes a leader in adoption partnerships with local rescue organizations. Until then, I can't support this aspect of the business and encourage others to consider adopting rather than purchasing animals from retail stores.

During my visit, I saw birds, a guinea pig and other small animals in small enclosures. It seems like the store owner cares about animals. It's disappointing though that Red Hill Pet Center treats living beings as products to be bought and sold. There are thousands of birds, guinea pigs, mice, lizards, and other small animals waiting in rescues for homes. I would much rather see this business use its knowledge and reputation to partner with local rescue organizations and help place adoptable animals instead of purchasing from breeders. I hope the owner considers transitioning away from selling breeder-sourced animals. I would happily support a pet store that focused on supplies, education, and rescue partnerships rather than the retail sale of live animals.

They carry leads, harnesses, Teckleclub rain coats (the best!), toys, treats, dog & cat food (including our fave SmallBatch), and more. And everything is neatly arranged. I had a lovely conversation with the staff member about the best toys based on the size of our pups and their needs (our one pup is a toy destroyer!). Took home a seemingly-indestructible, sturdy lobster toy, and my pups love it. Of course the destroyer ripped a hole in it within an hour, but so it goes in our house. Even though our primary veterinarian removed most of the tumor, she recommended that we find a trusted oncologist who could monitor him for the rest of his life. We got recommended Dr. Kelley Zimmerman, and omg, from our first appointment, I knew she was the right person to take care of my boy. She is so kind, thoughtful, compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled, and incredibly understanding. I know Milo has been receiving the best care possible ever since she became his oncologist. She performed multiple tests on him to make sure he doesn't have cancer anywhere else, she listened carefully to all of my concerns, and answered every one of our questions. She thoroughly explained Milo's diagnosis, what is happening in his body, and all of our treatment options. She also gave us clear instructions on what to do if we ever suspect the cancer has returned before we are able to schedule an appointment with her. All of her guidance gave me so much peace of mind. We are incredibly blessed to have her as Milo's doctor. There aren't enough words to describe how grateful we are for everything she and her team have done for us. Nobody wants to go to ER Nobody wants to wait for hours…read moreNobody wants to pay a lot of money But unfortunately sometimes we cant avoid it. This facility is very clean and nicely laid out with large waiting area. The staff are friendly and empathetic even though their jobs are very difficult and demanding. One thing that can be done better is prioritizing tests (not treatments). My dog had bloody diarrhea, they had to partially sedate her twice, once for xray and once for ultrasound. Both could have happened together if planning was better. Again just the test and not consultation. Hope nobody ever has to go to ER (for people or animals) but the staff here do handle things good and make it less painful.
