This predatory approach to veterinary medicine is archaic and takes advantage of frightened and stressed owners. They will run every test you don't need - multiple times - $50 for every blood pressure reading - charges for "vet tech", very uncomfortable facility, poorly ventilated, grimly decorated, and unethical/unempathetic behaviors from staff. PRO EUTHANASIA!!! Nobody wants their pet to die. Especially not there. They will take your money and then ask for more via the "vet tech". We had to take our pet to the E-vet for an emergency condition at 10pm. They were super helpful and compassionate with our situation. They helped our pet stay calm and comfortable through this difficult end of life emergency attack. Ultimately that night, they helped us by euthanizing our pet, and it was a peaceful and professionally done. They used Monarch pet services for cremation. Monarch did a great job with honoring our pet and delivering him back to us with a super impressive package and tribute memorabilia. These "vets" were real quick to take $5,000 from me as a deposit, but even quicker to give up on my dog and tell me to euthanize her after they over sedated and nearly killed my dog. These hacks caused my dog to have a bad reaction and then gave me the option of euthanizing her AND saying you've used up all $5K of your deposit, if we had not been there they would have euthanized her themselves, now the dog is 100% fine, walking around and eating. I've used Pet Emergency before, and they have always helped. I brought this particular girl, Mariah, to them because she was having seizures. Mariah wasn't critical, and they referred me back to my usual vet, All Creatures. As Mariah further declined, I was referred to a Neurologist. At 3am ish a couple of days later, a day before her appointment with the neurologist, Mariah crashed. She had a full on seizure. She was lying in her bed moaning. I called Pet Emergency asking if I brought her in, would they euthanize immediately. The person on the phone was a vet tech. I asked if, when I brought her there, they will take my info and make me wait in the parking lot like they usually do with patients? If I can go in, can the doctor come to one of the front rooms and euthanize her immediately in my presence? No, Mariah would have to be brought into the back. The doctor couldn't meet me in one of the rooms to meet with owners. I assumed they were going to do bloodwork. I wanted her euthanized straightaway. She's half dead already. Well, they have to run an IV to administer the drugs. They can run the IV in the room with me! The tech could hear my dog moaning. She did not say "oh, just bring her in." Their procedures are more important than putting an animal in pain out of her misery. I called Dr. Bressman from All Creatures at home. He met me at his hospital. I didn't ask Dr. Rich how much Mariah suffered before I was able to get to him. I'm better off not knowing. read more

We were vacationing in Florida when we had to take our two dogs here at 6:30 AM. A vet tech came outside and interviewed us to triage our case. Within 15 minutes our dogs were taken. They spent about 80 minutes being treated by the vet, who personally came out to update us on the condition of our dogs and to answer any questions we had. Everything was excellent- the staff really seemed to care about our two dogs, service was fast and thorough. It cost us approx. $700 for the visit, but when you consider that was for two dogs and almost an hour and a half of time spent with them that really is pretty reasonable. She tried to tell me my cat tested positive for Panleukopenia when she took him in the back, charged me $70 for a test and a bunch of unnecessary medication. I come to find out through other people that she sends the tests out to a lab and they are not performed in house. Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Nancy Mattee (others refer to her as the colored hair vet) was deeply disappointing. We found her to be unkind and unprofessional, lacking the bedside manner that is so crucial during difficult times. It was especially disheartening to feel dismissed during a period when we were vulnerable and worried about our beloved dog. We made a very hard decision to remove our dog from the care of Pet Emergency of Martin County. Thankfully, we were able to transfer our dog to another hospital, where the staff was compassionate and caring. They provided the support we desperately needed and were instrumental in keeping our dog alive. We encourage others to read Dr. Mattee's responses to patient reviews to get an idea of her approach. It's sad to think that this is what some people might encounter in our community. Had we followed her advice, the outcome for our dog could have been dire. Terrible experience. Do not bring your pet here! I brought my cat here who was in pain and shock from being hit by a car. First off, they do not let you come in. Then I said please give him pain medicine, and the guy said if the vet thinks it's necessary, then the vet came out to talk to me, and although I told him the cat was peeing blood and dragging his leg, he focused on the color of his gums. He said he looks anemic. He gave me an estimate of 752.00 for office visit, pain med. And x ray. The vet said his hip was dislocated and maybe needs surgery 2000. Maybe that won't work. I asked for pain med. So I can bring him home and not have to make a rush decision. Now he says your cat is broken you can't take him home and let him sit. I asked to go inside and see him and they said no. Completely without compassion both the vet and his assistant. I paid my bill took my cat to my vet. He had to be put to sleep. A completely awful experience. The animals are just a number and dollar sign. read more

We have had two emergency's with our Boykin spaniel mix Winnie related to allergic reactions and ear infections. When you have a whimpering, howling dog on a Sunday afternoon making it clear they are in pain, your options are limited. Thankfully Pet Emergency has come through. For the service they provide the price is on the reasonable side of expensive. Lab work, blood work, prescriptions, vet visit, it's all bundled in one single price. With a regular vet the full treatment visit might run $800-$1,000 but on the two visits, both were at $500 or $300 depending on the services provided, which seemed fair. You wait in your car for a vet tech to triage, keep you posted on the wait time and escort your beloved pup to an indoor facility, bring them back and hand you the bill. This is less stressful for pup and pup parent. It's obvious in the kind demeanor of the vet techs and nurses that they love what they do. The phone consult with the vet was informative, not rushed and gave me the information that I needed to make an informed decision. I was impressed that they took a different approach on the second visit that cleared up the infection and set us on a course of preventative care that will hopefully avoid future emergencies. We have high standards in ER vet care. When we lived in IL, we saw the vet that treats area police dogs exclusively. They have an ambulance to provide mobilized care onsite in the event the police dog is injured. They participate in going home ceremonies for pups killed in the line of duty. They provide innovative, best in class treatment at an affordable rate and are committed to keeping costs as low as possible for pet parents. No wonder they have a waiting list to join their practice. Pet Emergency is on par with the level of care we received with the best in class IL provider. Like them, they prefer to obtain recent records from other vet providers to give the best targeted care possible for your pet but they are also not afraid to take a different approach, which they did with our pup to better results. My only wish is that Pet Emergency of Martin County had a day practice. Sometimes the wait might be long because the service is needed by many, but the time goes by when you are in your own car vs. some waiting room. Our pup was less stressed and happy to snuggle up in my lap comfortably while waiting for care. read more

Being that this is an emergency hospital and there are different doctors there, I'm sure it makes a huge difference on your experience depending on the Dr. You get. I was not so lucky. First thing you should know is they won't let you come inside. They make you wait in your car and they come to your car and get your pet. My guess is so they can see what kind of car you drive so they can charge you accordingly. I found a litter of kittens and a couple of them started to decline. I took them to Pet Emergency of Martin and immediately after taking the kittens in, the Dr. (And I use that term loosely) examining the kittens ran back outside to tell me they had rabies, which was false. She asked me if we have been bitten by any of them (scare tactics) and rambling off prices of what all the tests and treatments would cost. Obviously I didn't feel comfortable there so I asked them to bring them back to me and after paying the "exam" fee I took them somewhere else. After being seen by my vet of over 25 years whom I trust with all my animals and discussing with several rescues, the kittens most likely had panleuk which is very common in kittens. Unfortunately those 2 kittens did not survive but all other 8 and mom did and they are thriving. No rabies in sight !! read more

Just had to take my boy Panda in for what we think is a soft tissue injury. They were extremely accommodating and all the staff were very loving. He received better treatment here than he does at his primary vet. I am very impressed with how they handled two stressed out owners and were compassionate to our anxiety. We think Panda will be okay. Just be aware, if your animal poops in their facility it's an $11 fee, which I don't blame them at all, it made me chuckle since Panda is notorious for pooping in foreign places. Having had dogs all my life, when I speak to a vet, within the first 60 seconds I can accurately gauge his/her abilities. Last night we had the scare of our lives with our 2 year old dog Zoey. Dr Shepard and his team went above and beyond to help Zoey. Although we couldn't afford emergency surgery he gave her fluids and medications to get her through the night and he gave us resources to call for her. Even after a long night of work Dr Shepard called this afternoon to check on Zoey and make sure she was doing ok and got in to somewhere for Zoey to have the life saving surgery she needed. HORRIBLE!! SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!! When we arrived to the Pet Emergency section we waited 10-15 minutes for someone to attend us. Nobody ever came out to attend us until after 10 minutes! Later on they took our dog and we got a phone call saying that we should wait PATIENTLY for someone to call us and be told the estimated price for the visit. After 2 HOURS OF WAITING no one came to give us an update while other patients that came after us were leaving. We called over one of the workers to ask if they have any updates and they told us to wait SHORTLY and PATIENTLY for someone to attend us and who would of known that shortly and patiently meant waiting an hour!! Our three year old yellow Lab hurt her paw playing in the backyard. We brought her to this emergency vet, and everybody was kind and caring. We went home with a treatment plan that worked for us and our dog. I have been to several emergency vets over the years (I've owned a lot of dogs), and none of them will be inexpensive. It was not all about the tests--they observed how the dog felt and commented on his personality. Our family Dog will be missed since the doctor was stubborn and didn't want to listen that she had bloat. Don't bring your dog here. Find somewhere else. We brought our Dog in after it was extremely sick and vomiting late at night. We thought it was bloat as we have had friends dogs that had the same thing. The lady with colored hair was the doctor, she was the one who was positive it wasn't bloat!! No x rays where taken and the dog was sent home. Later that day the dog became even worse so we brought her to another vet that we had better experience with previously now that it was daytime. Within minutes of being there the dog was x rayed and she had severe bloat. But it was to late and the bloat had pushed on the other organs to much and she passed away minutes later. After reading the other reviews it seem the lady with colored hair is the problem. I agree dogs get sick and pass. But to tell the doctor what the problem is and they say no and don't check for it. Well. That's just being a terrible doctor in my opinion. read more

My minpin was bit by our other dog and she was running around playing but bleeding so we took her to this place and they basically bargained for over an hour for 3,000 or they couldn't treat her. I finally got them to agree to 1,000 and they told me to apply for credit when they credit was approved they went up to 2,000. When I attempted to leave with my dog they brought her out worst than she was before we got there. I had to leave her there. Had a great experience here with Dr Holtsinger and staff. We are fostering a Frenchie, Todd, who had major respiratory problems. He underwent surgery on his soft palate almost 2 weeks ago and although he had some complications he came around and is doing very well now. We live 90 minutes away from clinic and we were welcome at any time we could make it up there, as he was there for 4 days. This is a very nice facility. The doctors are very knowledgable and the best thing about this facility is that they are open on weeekends! I was able to pick up an emergency ration of a medicated dog food for my pup. Other emergency clinics did not have food or were not open in the area. Our interaction with this wonderful facility began about 20 minutes after our dog was bitten by a 4 ft Rattlesnake. I called ahead and the second we walked in the door she was whisked away for top notch treatment from Dr. Miller. After an unfortunate incident the next day at our regular veterinarians our dog escaped and was on the run for close to 12 hours. Once we found her we arrived back at the ER at 1am to another group of fantastic doctors and staff. They have cared for our girl for days, she has steadily improved and I will HIGHLY recommend this hospital! Dr.'s Mettee, Miller, West, Hanson and techs Casey, Steven and Felix gave us peace of mind throughout an incredibly difficult few days. The staffs' bedside manner is refreshing! read more
