They do specialized testing in different areas according to the pet's needs. Both of the visits have been informative and pleasant. Although the outcome for my cat, Dirk (passed away on 3/15/26), was not what I had hoped for, I truly appreciate the level of care, compassion, and professionalism both teams showed throughout the process. From the very beginning, they made sure not only that Dirk was being cared for, but that I was supported as well during a very difficult time. Every interaction felt thoughtful and genuine. The staff took the time to answer questions, walk me through options, and ensure I felt informed and not alone in the decisions I had to make. What meant the most to me, though, was what happened after. I received (handwritten) signed condolence cards from their staff. That small but meaningful gesture spoke volumes about the kind of people they are. It showed that they truly care - not just about the pets they treat, but about the families who love them. We had a very disappointing experience here. My dog got some very expensive surgery and we were told she was doing great at follow-up visit. She started having issues again but they were not concerned at all. She was still in recovery so we needed to give it time. Took her back when things got worse (still in surgical recovery period) and it was the worst experience ever. We had no choice and we lost our dog and we got our heart ripped out all in the same day. Our beloved dog, Sky, was only 5 years old. He had been healthy his entire life until developing pancreatitis two weeks before we were referred to this specialty hospital. The experience we had with this clinic was one of the most devastating and disturbing experiences our family has ever endured. From the moment we arrived, we felt pressured into making a $14,000 surgical decision with virtually no opportunity to slow down, process the information, or seek a second opinion. We were told our dog had a pancreatic abscess and required immediate surgery. The message was clear: surgery needed to happen right away. The surgery was $18,000 but VCA covered $4000 from a charity. What stood out to us from the beginning was how often money was discussed. Instead of focusing on helping us understand all available options, we were repeatedly asked about our budget and how much we were willing to spend. We ultimately agreed to the surgery because we were led to believe it was necessary to save Sky's life. We were given an extremely optimistic outlook and were told that after surgery he will live another 15 years. Four days later, he was dead. What makes this even more difficult to accept is that an ultrasound performed by our regular veterinarian only two days earlier reportedly did not identify any pancreatic abscess. We were then told that an abscess had appeared and become so severe within a matter of days that emergency surgery was required. We still do not understand how such a dramatic change occurred or why we were never encouraged to obtain an independent second opinion before proceeding with a major surgery. After surgery, the focus on finances continued. During Sky's hospitalization, we were repeatedly asked about our budget and how long we could afford to keep him there. We explained that we intended to transfer him to our regular veterinarian on Thursday because the cost of continued hospitalization at the specialty clinic was becoming financially overwhelming. Then, on the very morning we planned to transfer him, we received a call informing us that Sky was dying. When I arrived at the hospital, I felt intense pressure to euthanize him immediately. I was strongly discouraged from transferring him elsewhere or obtaining another opinion. After days of conversations centered around our financial limits and our plan to move him to a more affordable facility, we were suddenly told that he was in liver failure and that euthanasia was the only option. The timing of these events has never sat right with us. Financial discussions played far too large a role in our dog's care. We understand that veterinary medicine does not come with guarantees and that even the best doctors lose patients. That is not the issue. The issue is that we never felt like informed partners in Sky's treatment. We felt pressured into surgery. We felt pressured regarding costs. We felt pressured when discussing transfer options. And ultimately, we felt pressured when making end-of-life decisions. Sky deserved better. Our family deserved better. We entrusted this hospital with the life of a young dog who should have had many years ahead of him. Instead, we left with an empty leash, a broken heart, a $20,000 bill (surgery + before & after tests/treatment), and countless unanswered questions. I went in for a second opinion after already having an MRI done, but instead of reviewing it and giving answers, they pushed expensive tests and even suggested repeating the MRI with little explanation. I went in asking for basic stabilization overnight (IV fluids + glucose/ketone monitoring) to get my cat through to her primary vet in the morning. Instead it was "liability" language and a hard push into expensive packages: ~$6,000, then ~$5,000, with no real minimum stabilization option upfront. After they realized I wasnt going to purchase one of their packages, they gave me a $1000 dollar emergency stabilization form to sign which at first I thought was for continued care, but then realized this was for discharging. The message was clear: accept the full plan or you're leaving. Euthanasia was brought up far too early, and when I declined the package they framed it like I was "refusing care," even though they were the ones refusing to provide basics unless I paid for the full bundle. After going to 3 different ERs we finally ended up at this facility and met with the doctor who was extremely knowledgable and provided us with the kind of care you'd provide your own pet or loved one. Dr.megarry didn't estimate any unneeded work ups or procedures he actively gave us alternatives and worked with our budget to help our dog after a car hit and run. Our Marley was in great hands and I highly recommend this location if you're ever in need of vet emergency care. We left with peace of mind, medications, and a doctor who fully understood our needs and our dogs temperament. The facility was clean, organized and updated. After being hit by a car and rushed to VCA ER, Dr. Tarricone made the decision to perform FHO surgery, rather than a THR (total hip replacement). He was a healthy 100lb athletic dog. I was not given the option for THR and simply told he was doing the FHO. Subsequently, five DVMs have questioned this for a healthy 2 1/2 year old dog. It bafles me. And I had insurance, so cost was not a factor. Down the line he began to have horrific leg swelling. After treating him three times with prednisone, they finally opted to do some diagnostic testing when his leg split open and he was in the ICU for a week. Their best guess was IMPA and the next six months were nothing short of a nightmare. His open wounds harbored myriad bacteria and the immuno suppressives were wreaking havoc on his body. Slowly, he lost all use of his back legs. Two outside DVMs and a visit to Uof Florida, and everyone who looked at this records and x-rays and more diagnostic, agreed that the IMPA was a misdiagnosis and that there was most likely a spinal injury or thrombosis. THREE veterinarians and a university staff. The thrice weekly VCA vet visits often included waiting 1-2 hours just to have his blood taken and almost cost me my job. The staff is horrid, with the exception of Dianna, Gianna and Alex, they are cold, rude and collecting money is clearly their main objective. The physical, emotional and financial toll that this took on me, my dog and my life is incalculable. read more

I was disappointed that I was misinformed by someone over the phone when I called to confirm if they had a fluroscopy machine (was told yes, but the answer is really no but they are working towards getting one) Anyhow, we ended up going for a consult and Dr Veytsman and the assistant were really terrific. They answered what they could for me and were honest about the limitations due to not having the fluroscopy/specialist available at this location. 7 years ago Dr. Roy and is amazing staff saved our dog KD's life. He removed a life threatening tumor from her colon. The staff provided around the clock specialty care. My Great Dane attacked my chihuahua recently, she had really deep wounds and we took her to this hospital since it was the closest and the only one that was open at that time. We visited twice, the first visit. The doctor told us she might need surgery for this, but it was insanely expensive. The total was a whopping $2,500! We still paid for the medicine but it was $400 just to take her home with open wounds, the cone was $80. The bandage was rubbing against her scabs, causing more pain. The second visit was horrible. We brought her back to finally do the surgery since we didn't know what else to do, the staff were very rude. Sassing us. She told us to not even go to our regular doctor about this and go to some surgeon. We just wanted our dog to feel better. The surgeon wasn't there that day so they put some ointment on her scabs and bandage, somehow the wrapping shimmied down from her wounds. We took her home and at this point, we were stressing out. We actually had an appointment with our regular doctor the next day, we took her only to find out... SHE DIDNT NEED SURGERY. The doctor told us if we did get her stitched up, the wounds would open up again and make things even worse. We were about to pay FREAKING $2,500 just for the wounds to open up again!? Give me a break! The regular doctors had the scabs cleaned up and they'll check up on her again then it'll heal on its own. This place is a total scam, don't go here if you can read more

Anytime your pet has an issue there is anxiety. When I could not get our dog seen by the local vet for a week (I am still upset about this), Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists opened their doors. Our dog Tabitha began hacking more last night and we took her in early this morning. Very impressed with the reception staff, nurses, and Dr's. Dr. Tucker was stunning. Very detailed examination and treated for Kennel Cough. So happy it was not too serious. Lastly, I thought the price was fitting. I did not feel overcharged like one reviewer noted. My almost ten year old Wheaten Terrier was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor just underneath her lower jaw. It was suggested by my vet to have it removed immediately. I had heard about this hospital and so I came for a second opinion. As soon as I entered I felt comfortable about the procedure. Everyone was extremely professional from the front desk etc. When I met with Dr. Terricone, told him my concerns and course of treatment, he took his time in explaining to me exactly what was going to happening during the procedure. My dog stayed overnight and I was given updates as to her progress whenever I contacted the facility. I only wish that human hospital would treat their patients as well as my pet was treated here. My pet is doing fine now and hopefully will be with us for several more years. read more

Staff was laughing and carrying on while people bring animals in for emergencies that aren't laughing matters. And my dog was misdiagnosed. If I left him in their care, they would have done an unnecessary surgery for God only knows how much. I took my dog home and he is doing fine. They talked to us about our payment in a way that was cold, unfeeling & completely inhumane. One if the 2 women sneered at us for not having pet insurance. During an emergency, as a vet you listen to the problem and you come up with a solution especially if you do not know the health history of the pet. If a patient asked that you get the chart of the pet to be familiar with the past history, you listen and understand the stress the pet owner may be going through. PB Veterinary Specialist FAILED to do so, especially Dr. Seth Ghantous. I can see with the size of the facility how making money is more important than a pet emergency. Dr. Seth Ghantous did not seem to be happy working a night shift and had a real bad attitude. Why blame an old man whom should be retired and have his license suspended? read more
